Attempt to restore your iOS device two more times. If the issue is still unresolved, the device may need service.
The "device may need service" means a hardware problem. In that case make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

After I update my ipod touch 4g from ios 5.1 to 6.1.5 its always keeping restart until it die. can anyone help?
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

i have a ipod touch and want to update from ios 4.3.5 to ios 6.0.1(the newest). how do i do that without losing the progress in my games that i downloaded from appstore? Pls Help!
Backing up saves your settings and other stuff on core apps but it doesnt save your appdata(that's is the main thing i am looking for) so it wont restore that when i restore it from the backup i create and this article too says it http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4972 so i would like too know how do i keep my data stored in apps from the appstore if there is any way to keep the data. Thanks anyway. If anyone else knows a way then please help as i accidentally clicked on this solved my question. :|

IOS 5.0 update for iPod touch: restore from backup?
I downloaded the iOS 5.0 for iPod touch and everything got backed up beforehand. Apparently my backups are encrypted and a password is needed to use a backup and restore everything back. I don't know what that password is! Can anyone help?
If you don't know the password, you'll have to set it up "as new device" and start all over again without using the backup. If you did not encrypt your backup and this somehow happened after the update, try to put in one of the password you use on your device, for example the screen lock password or your iTunes account code.
There have been cases in the forum, where users were able to unlock the backup by trying this method, after their backup got encrypted during the update process for an unknown reason.

Unable to update apps-Ipod touch with 5.0.1
Apparently I haven't updated my apps in a long time, as I have 23 apps needing updates, and they are all failing. I get a generic error "(title) cannot be downloaded at this time" and retry/done buttons. Retry does nothing-the download just fails again.
I have tried logging out of my itunes account, rebooting, and re-logging in without success. I have also tried downloading other free/paid apps and have not seen an issue. My account seems to be working fine. I have tried syncing with my mac, and no luck.
how do I get the downloads to cancel? I can't open any of the apps as they all have a bar showing download progress (or lack thereof). is there a way to download/update the apps w/a cable? This device is not eligible for the requested build: Also sometimes displayed as an "error 3194." If you receive this alert, update to the latest version of iTunes. Third-party security software or router security settings can also cause this issue. To resolve this, follow Troubleshooting security software issues.
Downgrading to a previous version of iOS is not supported. If you have installed software to perform unauthorized modifications to your iOS device, that software may have redirected connections to the update server (gs.apple.com) within the Hosts file. First you must uninstall the unauthorized modification software from the computer, then edit out the "gs.apple.com" redirect from the hosts file, and then restart the computer for the host file changes to take affect. For steps to edit the Hosts file and allow iTunes to communicate with the update server, see iTunes: Troubleshooting iTunes Store on your computer, iPhone, iPad, or iPod—follow steps under the heading Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store. If you do not uninstall the unauthorized modification software prior to editing the hosts file, that software may automatically modify the hosts file again on restart. Also, using an older or modified .ipsw file can cause this issue. Try moving the current .ipsw file, or try restoring in a new user to ensure that iTunes downloads a new .ipsw.
Error 3194: Resolve error 3194 by updating to the latest version of iTunes. "This device is not eligible for the requested build" in the updater logs confirms this is the root of the issue. For more Error 3194 steps see: This device is not eligible for the requested build above.

I want to install IPlayer, but when I do it as for an updated version. I have run all of the updates in I Tunes and taken Ipod back to factory settings to see if that works, but it doesn't.
Is anyone able to tell me if it is possible or not?
ThanksIf you have iTunes 10.5.x then you very likely have a 2G iPOd. Those can only go to 4.2.1. If yours is an 8 or 16 GB model without a camera it is a 2G iPod. TO idenify yours:

Hi,
I updated my iPod touch 3g from IOS 4.x to IOS 5 last week and since then my iPod makes troublle!
First of all, during the update I did not see any Problems. After the update, I mean the step where the data will be restored to the iPod, I synchronized some APPS at the same time, maybe that was a big mistake. My iPod makes hard resets many times in a loop until it frozes.
So the only thing I could do here is pressing the home button and the power switch at the same time until it gets rebooted. The sync started again and it looked like everything runs fine.
As I tried to use iMessage first time I realised the first Problem: I am unable to loginto iMessage with my Apple ID. My Apple ID runs fine, I can by Apps and so on. I also enabled iCloud to see that my Apple ID is ok. But logging into iMessage I put in my Apple credentials and Password, click on next, wait 3 seconds and the screen flips back. So this feature is not working.
Next issue I see is that randomly my iPod hard resets itself. Even if I don't do anything with my iPod I can see that it resets itself, booting with the apple icon. This happens minimum three times a day... (Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV), Kern_INVALID_ADDRESSat 0x00000000)
Today I tried YouTube, an internal Application which I cannot reinstall. It's not working anymore, starting YouTube says: Unable to connect to YouTube!
I have no clue whats going on here because email and web is working fine.
In my eyes I would like to reset the whole device to a state before running IOS5 and I would try the update again. But my Question is how to reinstall IOS5?
If IOS5 will not run smoothly on my iPod, I would prefer to backref to iOS4x.
Is there anyone who could help me out here?
Thanks,
DanielFound the rootcause. The battery was damaged and unable to have enough power to keep the device alive. After changing the device problem is solved.

So anyone who got the same problem help me please. Thank a lot. Hope some one will help me how to get throught this soon. I use Windows7 as a computer OS and the newest version of itune though.
Step 1 – Open the Terminal.app
Either by start typing Terminal on the Spotlight, or by going into Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal.
Step 2 – Open the hosts file
Open the hosts by typing on the Terminal that you have just opened:
view source
print?
1
$ sudo nano /private/etc/hosts
Type your user password when prompted.
Step 3 – Edit the hosts file
By deleting
#74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
#127.0.0.1 gs.apple.com
from your hosts file, save close and then reboot.
Or in Windows:
Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc, open hosts file in notepad and remove
#74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
#127.0.0.1 gs.apple.com
Save it and then reboot. -
Can't install iPhone 2.0 Software Update for iPod touch
I am trying to download the iPhone 2.0 Software Update for iPod touch from http://www.apple.com/ipodtouch/whatsnew.html so I can download apps for my new iPod touch. (Although it is pretty bogus that I should have to pay $10 for an upgrade on a brand new device so that I have the privilege to buy apps). I have iTunes 7.7 already installed.
When I click on the link https://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZFinance.woa/wa/touchLandingPage , I do not get a download, and iTunes does not open. Nothing happens if I open iTunes before trying this link either.
Instead, I get a brief page which says "One Momemt Please". Connecting to the iTunes Store. Loading... If iTunes doen't open, click the iTunes application in your Doc or Windows Task Bar" , then my browser is redirected to http://www.apple.com/itunes/affiliates/download/?itmsUrl=itmss%3A%2F%2Fphobos.ap ple.com%2FWebObjects%2FMZFinance.woa%2Fwa%2FtouchLandingPage%3Fign-mscache%3D1 which tells me to download iTunes... but I already have iTunes installed.
I installed (then uninstalled, reinstalled) the latest iTunes (7.7.0.43) and the problem persists. iTunes works fine for all other uses.
I have the problem with both Firefox (3.0) and Internet Explorer (6)
How can I download and install The iPhone 2.0 Software Update for iPod touch directly from iTunes? I cannot find it when I search for it. It is not listed in the App store.
(P.S. The web support form does not work when I tried to fill out a problem report for "Connection" issues. Although I filled in all form fields, it would not send the report, telling me I did not fill in a field.)The upgrade now appears directly in iTunes, so I do not need to access it from the web page. I see many others are encountering problems installing the upgrade, so I'll see how it goes...
There is no answer to the initial problem that iTunes install does not configure the browsers to handle the itmss:// protocol.
I still think Apple should not charge for this for a brand new iPod purchased just this week. -
When I went to update my iPod touch on iTunes, it said unable to update then the iPod shutdown and no longer showed connected in iTunes. I have tried holding down both buttons for up to 3 mins with no luck turning it on, even after a full charge. Help?

I tried updating my iPod touch to the newest update. But my iPod was unable to complete the update. Now my iPod doesn't turn on completely. The apple logo appears but then the screen goes blank. I've tried charging it, letting it discharge, I've tried things I found on the internet but nothing seems to be working. What can I do?

Can't update my IPod Touch because I have to enter in a passcode but it wont let me on my Ipod
Okay so I turn on my IPod Touch today and their is a message saying I need to plug it into ITunes. I plug it in but ITunes says that I need to enter in a passcode to my IPod because it is locked. You need to place your iPod in recovery mode and then restore the iPod via iTunes on your computer. For recovery mode see:
