  • Can't restore iphone 4s after ios7 update, pc keeps eating hd memory, but not restoring?!

I have an iphone 4s and just updated to ios7. However after the update, when I tried to restore my old settings from the backup (which is on my pc), the iphone started eating hd memory until I was left with 28kilobytes of free space. Naturally, I got the low disk space error and the process stopped. Now I can't restore my settings on the updated iphone and I have no memory left on C:\
    Please help!

Iphone 5 locked into an Apple screen this morning.
Followed like 5 different suggestions from this forum, regarding connecting to Itunes and restoring.
All attempts on Windows and MAC, Itunes is up to date.
Itunes extracts the software, contacts apple for verification, an then " Notification of error 40".
I have tried this like 15 times now, and nothing is working.
Any real help, beside following an article that I probably already attempted would be appreciated.
    thank you

  • I can't restore my ipod after trip to factory

Half a year ago my 80GB Ipod classic quit working. I had just bought it for Christmas 2008. I was stuck on the main menu and the select button would not work. I could use the wheel to move up and down the menu, but I couldn't select anything.
I mailed the ipod to Apple and they returned it saying that I had dropped the device and that that had caused the damage. They wouldn't fix it. With a year until my store warrant went into effect, I wanted to try and fix it myself.
I plugged the newly returned ipod into my laptop (Windows Vista, Toshiba). A screen said "Restore with Itunes." When I plugged it in, instead of the typical 'sync' page, a very basic, technical looking white screen appears. All it says is Do not Disconnect, with a battery symbol in the top right corner and the flashing 'no smoking' thing.
If I plug in the ipod and then try to open itunes, itunes won't open. It freezes. If I have itunes open and then plug it in, itunes freezes again.
I unplugged the device, and turned it off "Held Menu and Select." I've put it in disk mode. I've done the "Prev+Select" reset mode, but nothing resets my ipod. When i'm not fooling with it, I only get the "Apple" logo screen. I can't return to the Ipod menu that I saw before I sent in my device.
I think the factory erased my ipod software, and i can't restore it.
    Any help?

From what iPod's conclusion was and from your symptons after iPod's repair attempt, it sounds like it was dropped and the hard drive is damaged. The hard drive would likely cause iTunes to freeze because part of the iPod still is working but the hard drive is not and it's causing iTunes to not know what to do. Same reason why it won't reset. You can bring it to Best Buy for a COD estimate + repair. I believe it's $34.95 non-refundable deposit to send it to a Best Buy Service Center. If you approve the estimate, the $34.95 would be applied to that total. If you deny the estimate, the $34.95 would be kept by Best Buy to cover shipping and diagnostic charges.
The hard drive and labor probably wouldn't be that bad. Since the warranty is VOID, you might consider purchasing an iPod hard drive off the internet (Use Google and your specific iPod model) and then research how to replace it if you prefer not having us repair it for you.
    Hope this helped.

  • HT1414 I can't restore my ipod.

I plugged my new ipod touch into my computer to back up some photos and music and then my itunes told me i had to update and restore it. So I followed the steps my itunes told me to and nothing happened. My ipod is displaying a constant image telling me to plug it into my itunes and i can no longer use my ipod. So I plug it into itunes, followed the steps and nothing is happening. I have done this several times with no result and I'm getting really frustrated. I also think i have lost all of my music but have manage to get my photos back of a private sync on facebook. My itunes is also telling me that my ipod is in recovery mode but i'm not sure what that means.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore. The blue is a lng for recovery mode
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
    iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • Can't restore my backup after loading update !!!!

I backed up my phone yesterday before loading the update.  After loading the update, I got an error saying I couldn't restore my phone since I didn't have enough storage.  After THREE hours with Apple Care and 5 RESTORES, they still couldn't get my backup restored.....so I have lost over 1,000 photos not to mention everything else I've got on my phone for the last two years.   Apple tells me that since the update was larger than the previous update,  it took up too much room, and since I was close to capacity on the phone, my backup is TOO large......after THREE hours, they pretty much insinuated it was MY FAULT for having my phone at capacity.......there is no warning anywhere about the update taking up too much space and to NOT do the update if your phone was almost full.  Does anyone have ANY suggestions how to be able to get my backup smaller so I can get it back on my phone???  Apple Care said it isn't possible and I can bo buy a phone with more storage....to the tune of $800.00.

  • Can't restore my iphone after failed update.

I just updated my Iphone 4 to IOS 7.0.3, it worked for a few hours then put itself into recovery mode. I tried to restore it through iTunes, and it says that I have to restore and update my iPhone. I did that and now it is saying that it cannot restore my iphone due to error 21. I've changed USB ports, and even tried restoring it on another computer. But it is still stuck in recovery mode. And can't do anything, my Itunes is up to date, so is my computer. And i have no firewall up at the moment to stop it. How do i fix this?

  • Can't restore backup up after latest update in operating system

after latest ipad update I canot restore backup.  Ipad version is 7.0.6 (11B651)  ITunes version 11.1.5.5
It attempts to restore from backup for about 30 minutes then stops and displays a message "ITunes cannot restore backup it is not compatable with IPad being restored

Since your profile above mentions iOS 5.1.1, I wonder if you are trying to restore to an original iPad.
If not, I wonder if you are trying to restore to some iPad that is not running iOS 7.0.6.  You cannot do that.

  • Lost all my documents on my iPad after an update, what should I do?

I use my iPad instead of paper to perform tests on the associates I work with that are required using the Adobe app.  I came in this morning and my iPad was automatically updating and now that the update is complete, I have lost all of the checks that were done.  Not only that the iPad is requesting me to log into my itunes account to access every app and once I enter the information accurately it just shuts the app down.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

You will need to download the apps from the App Store. As long as you're using the same Apple ID, you won't be charged again.

  • My Macbook drive was replaced. If I sync my IPod Touch I'll lose all the old data on my IPod. Can I restore my iPod data to my computer?

My Macbook drive was replaced. If I sync my IPod Touch I'll lose all the old data on my IPod. What do you do when you buy a new computer or have a new hard drive?  Can I restore my iPod data to my computer?

See this article for details: How to back up your data and set up as a new device
    Or do this:
Make sure your Mac is authorized in iTunes. Disable autosync in itunes, connect your ipod, right click on it in the device list and choose backup.
This will save data, pictures and settings to itunes. See what's included in this backup here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Transfer your purchases the same way to copy all apps and bought media from the Store to your MacBook.
Set up at least one contact and event on your computer to be able the merge your calendars and contacts after your ipod got wiped during the first sync.
The rest of the data can be restored from the backup you made.
    Restoring: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

You may have the accessibility VoiceOver feature or another one turned on.
Triple click the home button and try going to Settings>General>Accessibility and turn VoiceOver off and any others off. You may have to use three fingers to scroll the screen to get there. If problems see the following for how to turn off via iTunes:
iPhone: Configuring accessibility features (including VoiceOver and Zoom)

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

If you can access the device: Tap Settings -> General -> Reset -> Erase All Content and Settings.
If you can't do that then you need to Restore it as New:

You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.
Also, see iTunes- Restoring iOS software.
You can also try using DFU mode:
Placing your device into recovery (DFU) mode:
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
       1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the
other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
       2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds
until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
                  * If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the
Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off,
release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
      3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the
device. The device should turn on. Note: If you see the battery charge warning,
let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some
charge, and then start with step 2 again.
      4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen.
When this screen appears you can release the Home button:
      5. If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:
      6. Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
    Additional Information:
If you have a problem getting into recovery mode then try: RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode.
Note: When using recovery mode, you can only restore the device. All user content on the device will be erased, but if you had previously synced with iTunes on this computer, you can restore from a previous backup. See this article for more information.

please how can I restore my ipod touch 2g from a firmware that I own already on my computer and without any time need to download via itunes

You should probably disable the autosync functionality first by going to Edit -> Preferences, clicking the Devices tab, and enabilng the prevent iPods,iPhones, and iPads from automatically syncing option.
Next, authorize the new computer with your iTunes Account.  In iTunes, choose Store -> Authorize This Computer and enter in the correct credentials.
If possible, either copy a backup file from your old computer to your new one or create a new backup of your iPod in iTunes before letting it sync.  To do this, right->click on your iPod Touch from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes and choose Backup. You might also want to take a look at this article to see what it all included in the backup.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766
Now onto synced content such as music, videos, photos, etc.  For iTunes purchases you can copy them back into iTunes by choosing File -> Transfer Purchases.  For all other nonpurchased iTunes content, see this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering different software availbable to assist you with this task.
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2452022?start=0&tstart=0
Once the backup has been made and all other synced content such as music, videos, and photos are back in your iTunes library, restore your iPod from that backup you made earlier.  Here is more on backing up and restoring your iPod.
