HT1414 iPad will not power up

My iPad will not power up. What could be the problem? I've ruled out the AC power adapter.

it's possible that your battery has gotten sick, or maybe the software or sensor associated with the battery/power is having issues. If it won't power up then you may need to take it to your local apple store and see what they say. just know that if your ipad is out of warranty then it may not be a free fix.

Try putting it into recovery mode.
Connect iPad to your computer via USB while it's turned on.
Open iTunes
Hold the iPad's Sleep/Wake switch (power button on the top of the iPad) down until the "power off" slider appears.
Power off the iPad completely (wait for the progress spinner to disappear).
Hold the Sleep/Wake switch AND the Home button down for a full 10 seconds.
After 10 seconds (the second time you'll see the Apple logo on the screen) release the Sleep/Wake switch while still holding the Home button.
Continue to hold the Home button for another 10 seconds until the USB connection image appears on the iPad's screen, then release the Home button.
A pop-up message will appear on iTunes saying it has detected an iPad in recovery mode, you must restore...
Click on the "Restore" button and the process will begin.

See if this fixes it. Reboot and let the iPad start up, then try to power down.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

My iPad will not power down. It automatically restarts and drains the battery because it is on all the time.

My IPad will not power down and stay off. It powers down and then restarts after a few seconds. Since it is on all of the time, it drains the battery between uses.

Then I think it is time to take to an Apple store to be checked. Make an appointment at your closest store. You can keep it plugged in to maintain the battery until you get it checked.

I'm sure you've tried the hard reset using the home and power button? If that won't work, next check your cables. If you own a iPod, or iPhone and have mixed up the sync cables, that can sometimes cause an issue depending on how old they are. If that doesn't work, I'd try a different computer with iTunes on it, if you have it, or a buddy to see if it recognized then.
