I have a Iphone3G with ios 4.2.1. Downloading not so good you have got to have at least ios 4.3 for most apps. People saying there is no more updated for them because too old. Can a iphone3G's ios be updated still? Is it safe and could I be able to use it the same day? plus would be better if using app store and it only pulls up app with your ios, so not having to search so much then start over if not compatible with phone... IPhone3G...every app is crashing

Hi all,
I have an iPhone3G...since yesterday every app (not the "default" ones) is crashing just after launch.
I tried a reset keeping pressed home button + sleep button but nothing was solved...
Any ideas?

If all Apps are crashing:
1) Restart the iPod Touch. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430

3) Reset All Settings. Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings.
4) Restore the iOS. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414

Can I use icloud to find my iphone3g?

We just gave our daughter our old iPhone3G running 4.2 How can we set it up so we can log into icloud on a computer, and locate it using the Find my Iphone service? I used to be able to do this when I used it and had a Mobile me account a year or two back. Surely there is a clever workaround out there to let us 'find our iphone3g'.

If you have already setup 'Find My iPod' you can try that, if you did not set it up prior to losing the iPod you can't.

How do I delete an icloud account from a used iphone3gs?

I bought a used apple iphone3gs. When I try to download an app, it asks for the other persons password. I made an account for myself, but it doesn't seem to recognise that when I'm trying to get new apps. Can I delete that persons account without having their password, if so how? Thanks so much!

App updates have nothing to do with the iCloud account, but if you want to delete that just go to Settings>iCloud and tap Delete Account (this only deletes it from the phone, not from iCloud).
You're getting the prompt for the other person's password when you update apps because there must be app(s) on your phone that were purchased with their ID. (Apps and their updates are permanently tied to the ID used to purchase them.) The only way to stop this is to delete this (these) app(s) from your phone (and from iTunes) and repurchase them with your ID. Aslo verify that your ID is set in Settings>iTunes & App Stores. If not, tap the ID shown, sign out, then sign back in with your ID.

That is usually a symptom thet the phone was hacked or jailbroken. Was it?

Once I connect the phone to a power source, in a couple of minutes it's ready to roll again, and displaying a "full battery" icon.
The phone is almost always fully charged when this happens, and I don't get a crash when the phone is plugged into a power source.
Took my iphone to apple store, they informed that battery is very good and there is no need for replacement. Might be there is a problem with iphone motherboard. But they can't repair it as my 3GS crossed warranty.
Where should I go to repair this. Within 2 years...this 32GB 3GS is almost garbage for me with no support from apple. I am ready to send it to apple for repairs and pay the repair charges.
I tried everything... deep reset ... factory settings .... nothing is working... Apple staff pl. take care of your customers ...

How can I create an iPhone3g ringtone from a recorded MP3

I've recorded my daughters voice as an mp3 file (about 10 seconds long) and want to use it as a ringtone on my iPhone3G but cannot figure out how I do this. I'm using iTunes8 and all the instructions I've found on creating ringtones will not work as menu options simply aren't there and no amount of messing around with the file will allow me to drop it into the ringtones folder on my library. This is infuriating as is the apple support site 8-(

The easiest way I found was by using http://audiko.net/en.html. You just upload any MP3, trim it by dragging the handles to what you want and then download it to your PC. Then, you can just drag it to the Ringtones section in iTunes.

Yes, if it has been jailbroken, then there is probably nothing that you can do and you will never be able to use it, so ditch it and buy a new phone.
If it's an iPhone 3g, then it is a very old phone anyway and you shoud consider buying a new one.

Well, if you've indeed tried EVERYTHING, then you'll need to bring your phone to Apple for evaluation.

Only compatible SIM cards from a supported carrier may be used to activate iPhone. Please insert the SIM card that came with your iPhone or visit a supported carrier's store to recieve a replacement SIM." I can't do anything with my phone! How do I get it to change back to normal? BTW, I don't if this helps, but I'm from the Philippines and my sim card is Smart.

Well yesterday I finally broke down and called apple service... I spent $29 and 1.5 hours on the phone, but the operator was finally able to fix my ipod. There was an issue with the itunes update, and it had corrupted. After uninstalling, installing, and updating several drivers, programs, and resolving other issues, my iPod finally works. Even better, the operator gave me a way to contact him again if I am having issues, free of charge. I would have much rather fixed this myself without spending the additional money, but I'll admit there was no way I could've done what he did, as there were certain orders to uninstalling Apple programs. My advice? Bite the bullet and call. They will get your iPad working again. (:

Sync - FROM a full iPhone3Gs, TO a empty/clean/new install, of iTunes

I had problems with sync between iTunes-iPhone3Gs from day 1.
I have been using iTunes for the last 5-6 years, for my music-libery without any serious problem. The 1 day i connectet my iPhone, all seems to go/sync well. But allready the next day, i got problem with syncing the iPhone. I had to rename my iPhone, before i could sync again. I had this problem for some time(with 8-9 new names after all) and today i turned on my PC and everything in iTunes WAS: WIPED - EMPTY - CLEAN!!?
Well i cleaned out all "left-overs" of iTunes-Files, and made at new clean install(of iTunes - Last Version)
My problem is ....i cant find any ways to: sync my full iPhone over to empty iTunes( = load-off all my stuff FROM the iPhone TO iTunes on my PC)
and plz ..read what i ask for! - I KNOW, i can sync iTunes to my iPhone(but thats NOT what i ask for!) - the OTHER way arrround: FROM the iPhone, TO iTunes ...HOW is that done?!?
No matter how i try(to load all my: app's , programs, music, pictures, films ect. ect) ..it tell me, that it will copy all the stuff from iTunes(read that: Nothing) to my iPhone ..and I stop there ..because it really mean that it will wipe my iPhone too, if I proceed.
Since i had enough(when I lost all my music, thanks to a iTune-failure) i really dont wanna loose any more by making a "sync-wipe" to my iPhone!
For crying out loud... why do Apple make this so hard to work/figure out?? - this should be an easy task to save all my stuff and savings from my iPhone, into iTunes ...but NO ...it seem like the only thing it alows, is syncing FROM iTunes ..and since my iTunes is emty ..my iPhone will also end up emty, after a sync....!

Thats sad - I really liked the phone ..the way it worked and the wide range of apps, that made it possible to tailoring the interface, to a degree beone my imagination.
But the fact, that because of "the potential" of someone maybe "stealing music", they throws the phone in chains ..and give this phone and an extra disadvantage compared to other mobiles?!?
To be honest - I'd rather lose the ability to listen to music on the iPhone than to end up with worse backup options.
This is primarily a phone - not an mp3(4)-player (apple has their ipod for that!) and it's grotesque to see how Apple choose to destroy the usability, just to ensure an unnecessary sideshow on the phone. That said - this is only a problem found on iPhone(Apple-product) - All other company has fully functioning solutions without it imposes restrictions on the phone usability - if Apple has a problem with this, they should prefer to remove music from the iphone, but to destroy the backup options with so many disabilities.
Music... That made me think alot!
I have(at home) more than 2000 CD's of music and those CD's, have ALL been bougth from legal stores/shops and should and should therefore be regarded as legal. I chose to copy all my music onto my private NAS Server, so everyone in my house can use it - Still fully legal(where I come from) because I own the music in CD's.
But because I did not buy music through itunes, itunes can not register or check if my music is legal. So I guess.. that itunes will probably judge me as a music thief, or what?!?
