HT1414 Logging into my password protected ipad?

I have an Ipad that is password protected.  After trying to login to itunes to restore it to factory default settings, it gives me an error message saying it cannot login to itunes because it is password protected.  My daughter did not know the password and tried to login multiple times after which it gave me the message that it MUST be connected to itunes (which I've also tried to do), what should I do to regain use of my ipad!!  I'm exasperated at this point! I'm not sure what version of IOS it is currently using since I cannot login to it to find out! Yay Apple, please tell me you haven't created a computer that is so security oriented that it now resembles a very fancy and expensive PAPERWEIGHT!

FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTune (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port. Do not release button until you see picture of iTune and plug (very important)
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTune has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTune.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...
Note: Data will be lost

On the page where you enter username and password after entering and pressing "Log in" the page just stays in place. If you look at the error log you see
"Warning: Unknown property 'border-radius'. Declaration dropped.

  • I open Gmail and it logs in without password protection, which I want.

How do I force password protection?

Try logging out and logging back into gmail, when you log back in make sure that the box is not checked to remember you. If that dosen't work then go to the password manager and remove gmail/google from there.

  • Can't log into Facebook app in iPad Air

I can't log in Facebook. I got the message "problem in logging, write your password again".

Followed your lastest instructions, wiped my ipad clean started over and everything seemed to fine.  I then went back into facebook on ipad (not app) and there was no place to log in just a spot to type in password all other acounts Twitter, etc. have both log in and password areas.
Most everything (apps) that uses facebook to play still work only some are not being recognized.
It makes no sense that some things work and some don't when the password is the same for all.
Very frustrating that I still have no control over logging into facebook!

  • Why can't I log into iCloud on my iPad?

When I go to the iCloud.com website on my iPad, I can't log into my iCloud account. The only options are to (a) set up iCloud, which has already been set up on all my devices, (b) Install Find My Phone, which is already installed on my iPad, or (c) Install Find My Friends, which is irrelevant. There is no login window.
A previous thread suggested that installing and using the Find My iPhone app would fix the problem, but it doing so changes nothing on my iPad. What am I missing?

You can use iCab Mobile to log into your iCloud.com account on the iPad. You must identify iCab as a desktop browser. I use iCab Mobile and I identify it as Fire Fox 4.0 for Mac. I can log into my account this way.
I do NOT have iCloud email so I'm not positive that you can log into the email this way, but IF I recall correctly from reading a couple of other posts, it will work.
If you want to take a chance, download iCab for $1.99 (I think). I can tell you this much - it is a superior browser to Safari on the iPad in just about anyway that you can imagine - even if you can't access your iCloud mail.

  • When I purchase apps they won't download anymore. The message says when I log into iTunes on my iPad it will be available for download but nothing is there to download.  What is my next step?

I am not able to download apps on my iPad any longer.  I get a message that says when I log into iTunes I will be able to download the app but there is nothing to download.  This just started happening, I never had this problem before.

If you are trying to download large apps over 3G on your iPad then there is 20 meg limit. In terms of iTunes on your computer try either Store > Check For Available Downloads or just (re-)download it from the store : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519 and then sync it to your iPad.

  • I can't log into Facebook using my iPad

Y can't I log into Facebook. Got new iPad and did the ISO7 update, now it won't work. Have reset it, deleted fb but still nothing

If cant log into Facebook, you will just have to go on to safari and do Facebook on there but also you could try deleting again, restarting your iPad and get the app again.
I really do hope this works :)
    good luck thanks

  • TS3694 unknown error logging into itunes account on ipad

    hi
i am having problems logging into my itunes account from my iPad - i keep getting the message: unknown error

Go to keychain access. Go to preferences. turn Online Certificate Status Protocol and Certificate Revocation List both to off.
You should now be able to log into iTunes.
The repairing of Keychain is a wasted step and has nothing to do with this issue. This is another issue.

  • Why can't I log into Facebook on my iPad?

Whenever I log into Facebook none of the post appear on the screen.

You might want to check with Facebook to make sure there isn't a problem on their end.

  • Please tell me why it takes so long to log into a site protected by 'Rapport' security software since the upgrade to 17.0.1. Also locks firefox temporarily

    When logging into:
    https://service.oneaccount.com/onlineV2/OSV2?event=login&pt=1
Rapport seems to hang the whole browser. This has only been a problem since you upgraded me to 17.0.1. Have just tried the same operation with Rapport running on IE8 and no problem, from hitting go to being in - 12 seconds and use of the browser. When can we expect a fix?

    Hi,
Please see http://www.trusteer.com/support/ for updating the current installation, and reporting issues.

  • Can someone unlock my password protected iPad / iPhone by syncing it to a computer other than mine ? ( i.e.  a computer where the devise was never synced before )

If some one finds my passward protedted iPhone / iPad and then connected it to iTunes to reinstall a fresh iOS and  unlock it can he/ she then uses my phone ?
I want to make sure to prevent anyone who finds my iPhone or iPad from using it. Is there a way? I have already protected it with a ten million combo password, I , have gps and 3G always on to use the Find iPhone App, and used a lock screen with my contact info and a promise of some $100 reward In case it was returned. If it can be cracked just by simply syncing it to iTunes and installing a fresh iOS then all these precautions means nothing from a security stand point.
    Thanks.

    Tonefox, Kappy,
Thank you both for your Comments.
While I don't won't to start a debate here, I must admit that I belong to a rare bread of apple fans: the obnoxiously critical bunch, the more I love a product the more critical I become towards that product, because I would like to see more and more improvement.
I would like to remind you that all the laptops that I have owned for the past decade had this simple security feature. And, yes, you won't be able to use them if you don't have the bios passcode. ( unless you know how to crack the bios, not easy)
I understand the car/ bike / washing machine argument. However, a laptop, a phone and an tv is diffrent. These can be protected because you can have that feature in their operating system, and have the operating system unalterable without the passcode( just like my old 2001 Dell laptop ). Comparing an iPhone to a car or a truck  might not be the best example.
We can all disagree with each others forever, but I guess I can confidently say that if your iPad gets stolen, you would, at least, want the SOB who stole it be totaly unable to make any use of it. Am I being unrealistic here too? Unless you are a total pacifist, I think you would agree with me.
    Thanks again for your comments.

  • Laptop cannot log into WRT120N Router, but ipad can...

    Confused about this one....
I connect to several different routers at 192.168.1.1 and the WRT120N stops me at the user/password screen.
I thought it was a router problem - so I flashed newest firmware to the unit...(yes - I was able to get into the boot loader screen on the unit) and then after upgrading, was stopped with the user name and password just not letting me past....
Then I used the setup CD - it configured the router and left a text file on the desktop with the configuration settings....those settings would not allow the laptop (using both Firefox and IE) to get past the login pop up.
I then tried access by using an ipad....got right into the setup screen of the router....
So - what is it on the laptop that does not allow access to the 120N router - but access to other routers....(ie the address is not blocked by a firewall)???
    Open to suggestions....
    B

I’ve read an article that this is common in the old firmware version and they strongly advised to perform a firmware upgrade. Before doing an upgrade, you need to reset the router button for exactly 10 seconds. • How can I log into my new (used) Ipad if the previous owner has the only log in information?  I purchased it through Glyde and have no information on the seller.

How can I activate my new (used) Ipad if the previous owner has the only log in information?  I purchased it through Glyde and have no information on the seller.

What you've run into is the activation lock. Previous owners are supposed to wipe their devices, and to do that they have to enter their apple ID's. If yours wasn't wiped then it was a careless owner, or the dark side is that whomever sold it, it wasn't theirs to sell.
Regardless, what Deggie says is your only recourse. Get your money back or own an unusable brick.

  • Unable to log into Adobe Viewer on iPad

I am typing in the correct Adobe ID and password - unable to authenticate - even though I have verified my account through email.  Some co-worker are having the same issue.

Could you please try login at https://files.acrobat.com from browser and check if it recognizes your email or gives error. Now log again from your iPad Adobe reader app, probably you will face no issue.

  • I'm having a problem with logging into a FileVault-protected user account after restoring from Time Machine backup.

    Hi all,
My computer had been running really slowly for a while, so I decided to erase the whole hard drive and reinstall the operating system, and then I was going to restore the files I cared about from Time Machine. The main account, which had all my documents and photos, was FileVault-protected. The last thing I did before erasing the hard drive was to run one last Time Machine backup. As far as I remember, I always ran Time Machine backups with the FileVaulted user logged in.
I don't remember whether I was using FileVault 1 or 2. I had been using FileVault 1, but I installed Lion as soon as it came out and I thought I had migrated to FileVault 2 at that point.
Once I erased the hard drive and reinstalled the operating system, I browsed the Time Machine disk and, within the Users folder, there was no folder for the main user account. When I tried to reinstall everything by restoring from Time Machine backup, I'd get the option for all the user accounts, but when I tried to log in with the main one I'd get the dreaded "You are unable to log in to the FileVault user account "User" at this time. Log in failed because an error occurred." Finally, when attempting to restore from the Time Machine backup again, I noticed something strange: After the computer got to about 10% done restoring, it declared itself completed successfully and rebooted.
I've tried a number of tips that came up from questions about similar issues on the Apple support forum, but had no luck. Is there any way to get these files back? Did they ever even get backed up?
    Thanks.

I can't find it! not sure what's going on but the only folder shown is the " Shared" folder.
Did you have only the one user account? If there were others, they should also be in the "Users" folder. You probably won't have access to the files inside them, but they should be there.
From what can make out, it looks like it's not backed up any of the files for the filevault account. Can't see user folder when looking through previous backups in Time Machine galaxy view.
Are you doing that from a Finder window set to your internal HD, or your computer name? It should look something like this (with the Finder in List view):
    |
    |
I'd been logging out and backing up manually on a regular basis.
Scheduled backups should run normally; but they won't back up the File Vault sparse bundle, nor will any run manually.
The only time it's backed-up is when you actually log out.
You should have seen this window on logout:
    |
    |
    followed by this one:
    |
    |
If you didn't see the second one, or cancelled it, the account wasn't backed-up.
