HT1414 My phone powered off on it's own this morning, and will not restart. Any help?

I replied to a text message this morning, put the phone in my shirt pocket. I went to use it again 2 mins later and it was completely non-responsive. I have tried all the tricks I know to restart it, but no success. I even went to my vehicle and plugged it in, hoping the charge would bring it to life, but still no.
Is there an answer to turning my phone back on? Have never experienced this issue prior to download of the new OS.

Hello kylega,

    Good Morning,
I just did a software update on my phone (finally) last night and now my phone will not come on.  It keeps showing the charger pointing up to a blue circle with iTunes inside and will not go any further.  Can ANYONE help me please???

The phone is in restore mode and the picture is telling you what to do. Connect the phone, by cable, to iTunes in the computer you normally use for syncing, and retore the phone.

Activation issues are almost always the result of a device that has been hacked or jailbroken.  If that is the case, no support can be provided here.

You are gonig to have to take it to an apple store or a specialist as it might be a harware problem.

why is my phone so slow, it has never been this slow and it constantly rests it's self ??

    Hello, mackenzienesbitt.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Here are a couple resources that have some helpful troubleshooting steps for this issue.
    Resolution
If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close.
If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected, restart your device.
If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on), reset your device.
If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
Let it charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged. Learn more about charging iPhone and iPod touch, or iPad.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more aboutrestoring iOS software.
If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3281
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.

  • Phone shurts down enexpectantly and will not restart

My Galaxy S5 is less than one year old.  Yesterday it began shutting down after about an hour.  Battery is charged and even occurs when plugged into charger.  It will not restart or open until I remove the battery, keep it out a few minutes, and then reinsert the battery.  It will then start normally. Later the same problem recurs.  Later, I installed successfully the newest software update.  The problem is unchanged.  I also know that the battery is warm after this has occurred. The phone has not be dropped or immersed in water or had other changes.  No new software installed that I remember recently.

Try doing a "Wipe cache partition"
Power off your Samsung Galaxy S5 by long pressing the Power
On/ Off button. Wait until the device is completely shut down. Now you have to
press the following keys at the same time to turn on the phone again:
    Power On / Off
    Volume up
Home button If the Samsung Galaxy S5 vibrates once, release the power
on/ off button, but keep the other two keys from the key combination pressed
until a menu appears on the display.
Mark the entry "Wipe cache partition" with the
volume down key. With the power on / off button, the entry can be selected and
    the process will start.
This usually takes only a few seconds. Then the previously
displayed menu appears again. Now select the first entry "Reboot system
now" and run the command again with pressing the power button. Your
Samsung Galaxy S5 will now reboot. If this does not
help, you will then need to do a factory data reset on your Samsung S5 .

  • IPod turns off as soon as I unplug it and will not charge or respond.

I've had trouble charging my iPod, as in it won't charge whether hooked up to a wall socket or to a usb, I've tried changing both usb slots and sockets to no avail and tried resetting repeatedly.
Now it works fine while plugged into a socket (not when plugged into the computer) but the instant I unplug it it switches off and will not respond, unable to reset it or turn it on or anything, I've left it on charge for a long time and also tried to drain the battery totally and then charge it, neither of these had any effect.

Sounds like a defective battery or something wrong with the charge circuitry inside the iPod. In either case, if this is an iPod Classic, it is under warranty and should be returned to Apple for repair or replacement.

  • I'm trying to run a video that requires QT 2.2.1, but QT is up to 7. It keeps telling me to download 2.2.1 off the disk, but when I try, it will not complete--any suggestions?

I'm trying to run an educational video which says it requires QT 2.2.1. QT is up to 7. So, it says to download off the CD, but when I try, it will not download. Any suggestions...

QuickTime version 2 is almost 20 years old and will not install on a modern machine.
You may be able to manually seach the CD to find the video content and it may be viewable in QuickTime Player 7.

  • Iphone 4 just switched off and will not restart

My iphone 4 just switched itself off and will not turn back on again, it has not been dropped etc as it was working fine earlier in the day
can anybody offer advice or help

Connect to Wall Charger for 10 minutes, it may come on itself. If still off, keep on Wall Charger and Reset, Hold both Home and Power buttons until the iPhone begins to start. This can take about 20 seconds of holding both buttons while on charger.

  • Thanks for your help.My Powerbook switched itself off and will not restart.

Hello everybody and thank you for helping me.
Yesterday as I was using iTunes on my PB 17", the machine just stopped working as if it had been powered off. I restarted it and a few hours later it stopped again. I opened it (it was closed, being connected to the external screen) and found that it was extremely hot. It took a long time to cool off, and now, every time I try to restart it, I can hear the fan for a second and then nothing else happens. Does anybody know if it is terminal or curable ? Thank you all.

i have a similar problem. my laptop shutdown and when i went to start it back up, the fan kicks on and that's it. the fan runs until i turn the computer off, but that's it, no start up chime or beachball, the logo on the cover doesn't light up, nothing other than the fan and a black/ blank screen. the power lite is green and the battery indicates full charge. i have tried reseting the computer to it's factory setting as described in the user guide, i have tried booting up from the install disc that came with the laptop (holding the c key upon start up) but nothing and now the install disc is in the cd/dvd drive and won't eject. please help, any info would be appreciated
    thanks in advance, Gene

  • Notebook frequently is found turned off and will not restart even when power button is held in

I have a dv7-3060us notebook running Windows 7,  Some mornings (every few days or weeks), I find it, powered off and unresponsive.  Pressing in and holding the power button for 5-10 seconds has no effect.  I have to unplug it and remove the battery to get it to restart.  This has happened numerous times.  I have tried it running with the battery removed and it even fails then.
Can a software problem cause this?  I thought that holding in the power button causes a hardware interrupt and the BIOS takes over.
Is there a known hardware problem which can cause this?
    Thanks,
    Adam

    Hey Adam,
First off, Happy Friday! I would go ahead a try a hard reset to resolve this issue. You can find the instructions on how to do this on this page: Use Hard Reset to Resolve Hardware and Software Issues
If this does not resolve the issue post back with any new details and we can go from there.
    Thanks,

  • My phone powered off on it's own and when it came back up all me text messages were gone????

Does anyone know how to recover messages?

Were the messages received before or after your last backup/sync? If before, Restore the phone. If after, call the sender and ask them to re-send the message.

  • My phone thinks it is connected to a dock all the time and will not play any sound or ring what do i need to do?

my phone thinks that it is connected to a dock all the time and wont play ringtones or any other sound. I know that the speakers work because it will randomly play sound but for a very short amount of time and just recently stopped making sounds all together. the phone is almost brand new and has no damage I just bought it a few months ago. What can I do to fix the problem?

Clean iPhone charging port with a clean dry toothbrush. See if better. If not, clean again with toothbrush and small amount of Isopropyl Alcohol. See if better. If not, try Restore. If still a problem, and there is Warranty or AppleCare make Genius reservation and take to Apple for resolution.
