Not entirely sure what you are asking, but a passcode to unlock an iOS device is normally 4 digits long (so is a 4 digit code), though you can make it alphanumeric and longer (so effectively becomes a password).
If you don't know the passcode to unlock your phone or it's showing the disabled screen then there are instructions on this page for how to reset a device : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212 - you should then be able to restore/resync your content to it.

First, make sure caps lock is not on.
You must back up all data before continuing, unless you've already done so. If you need to back up but can't log in, ask for instructions.
If the user account is associated with an Apple ID, and you know the Apple ID password, then maybe the Apple ID can be used to reset your user account password.
Otherwise*, boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at startup. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar.
In the Terminal window, type this:
res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window opens.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Follow the prompts to reset the password. It's safest to choose a password that includes only the characters a-z, A-Z, and 0-9.
Select

You should now be able to log in with the new password, but your Keychain will be reset (empty.) If you've forgotten the Keychain password (which is ordinarily the same as your login password), there's no way to recover it.

Forgotten Restrictions Passcode Help
You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.

ADDT Register and Forgot Password Issues

I have defined in my database columns for storing the maximum
number of login attempts, the account disable date, registration date and expiration date and I have left these columns out of the registration form, but they are not receiving "the right values behind the scenes, in a transparent manner" as per the manual.
In a perhaps related issue the 'Forgot Password' page is generating the following error:
Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /var/www/html/forgot_password.php:19) in /var/www/html/includes/common/KT_functions.inc.php on line 464
when it tries to redirect to the 'login' page. As both pages have been generated automatically by ADDT I am not sure where to start with tracking down the bug(s).

I finally found the solution. Search the generated code of the file ('forgot_password.php') between the first '<?php' tag and the '<head>' tag for any group of lines like the example below:

In this example 'Line 21' is generating a 'space' which is throwing with subsequent PHP call.

We have an ipod touch, that has been synced with my itunes account since Dec 2012. The screen broke, so we quit using it, and forgot the password. We would like to use it again, but forgot the password.
