I just go a new IPOD 6.1.3 and have been trying to transfer games from my very old IPOD 4.2.1. I backed up my old ipod to my itunes account and then did a restore on my new ipod. I also tried resetting my new ipod and just individually transfering the games over. The games will transfer but the data doesn't. When I click on the games on my new IPOD it's as if I've never played them before. What am I doing wrong?

You have to restore the new iPod from the backup of the old iPod. If you restore via iTunes all the apps have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup.

You can't sync your music back from an iPod to iTunes, the transfer of music is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. There is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying your songs back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
There are also a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the files from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward.

Are you sure? I restored my new iPod from the backup of my iPad and all app data was restored to the new iPod.. App data is part of the backup.

I recently purchased my 1st iPhone and changed my Apple ID when I did. I just tried logging into my iTunes on my PC for the 1st time since and my music from my iPod is no longer there. When I connect my iPod to the computer, I can see the music under the iPod and "On this iPod". How do I transfer the music to my music in iTunes so that I can transfer it to my iPhone?

your AppleID is like your SSI# you cannot transfer infromation from one to the other. what ever you purchased under the old AppleID is linked to that ID only.

I have a rather specific issue to resolve. Having very recently bought a new computer, I planned to transfer all of my itunes over using my ipod. Unfortunately, my 14 month old ipod (80GB video) failed as it was being charged - it blipped and died on me. I have tried different methods of charging and it does not work. So with an ipod just out of warranty I have now got over 1000 songs on an old computer without a CD burner. I have this new computer, and I have just bought a new ipod. It does not like connecting to my old computer. I have a separate external back up device (an external hard drive I think) which will work on both computers. I need to transfer my itunes songs from my old computer to my new one. I am going to donate my old computer, so I'll wipe it clean once I'm done. I just wanted to know if there is an efficient way to transfer songs to a new computer since I already did a lot of work loading songs onto the old one!

Transferring files from old computer to new one

I just purchased an HP Envy 700 series and am trying to transfer my files from my old computer. My problem is that the old computer has a fried motherboard so I put the old hard drive in an external case and hooked it up to the new computer to transfer the files. When I try to access the "users" folder on the old drive I get a message telling me I don't have permission to access the folder. Is there anything I can do to get past this?

The OS on the old computer was Windows 7 Home and the new one is Windows 7 Pro.
I have developed a work around for my problem. I put the old hard drive in an external case and then hooked it up to my laptop. I then lower the User Account Control setting to its lowest setting (after I turn off my access to the internet) and then I am able to access all the files in the account that was blocked before. It is tedious trying to transfer many GB's of data using a thumb drive but it is getting done.

There are two possibilities:
1) after putting music on your mini you've been erasing it from your computer
2) the music on your mini is still on the computer
If you erase music after putting it on your iPod, you'll need to download a program that copies songs from the iPod and puts it on the computer. Go to your favorite download site and search on the word iPod. You'll find several choices. Once you've downloaded and used the program go on to the next paragraph.
So your music is on the computer, it is cataloged by iTunes, and arranged in playlists. Great! If your music collection is small enough to fit on the nano, just plug the nano in and sync. If the collection is too big, you'll either want to manually manage it or create one or more playlists just for the nano and set iTunes to automatically sync just those playlists.

What computer OS are you using? Do you have the latest version of iTunes (v11.1)? There has got to be a reason for the disconnect in the music syncing. I would recommend resetting the sync history. If you are in Windows, go to Edit, Preferences, Devices, and there is a button there. Now, with the phone connected to iTunes and the phone selected in the Device pane, you go to the Summary page and down towards the bottom of the page, there is a Reset Warnings box. After doing that, try to sync music again. If there is a problem, with the warnings reset, it should show up if there is one.

I have just bought a new ipod nano and want to transfer the music and playlists from my old 2nd generation ipod over. Unfortunately I share a computer and the library in ITunes isn't mine. I bought a Creative Zen Micro 6gb 2 months ago. It worked fine for a month, then became slower and slower, clicking as it tries to start playing the songs. This week it has refused to?dock correctly. As I cannot find my receipt I anticipate that I will be buying a new mp3 player soon!...so was wondering... If I were to buy another Creative Zen Micro, would it be able to pick up the songs already transferred to the creative software on my computer or would I need to start from scratch again?

Contact Customer Support first and see if they can help at all. Perhaps the store will be able to provide you with another receipt, or if you purchased the player using a credit card, you can get a statement that way.
Regarding your question though, it really depends on where your music is. If you stored a backup of your music on the PC then you can easily transfer them over to another player again. The music may still be in your Music Library (ie stored on the PC). If you only stored them on the player, then it will be more difficult. If the current player will work on the PC (from your description it doesn't sound like it will though) then you can transfer the music to the PC, otherwise there isn't much you can do except start over.

Here's the problem. I ordered the iphone4, but with the backorder delay taking longer than expected, I will find myself on vacation with my old 3gs and G4 Macbook Pro. My 3gs is synced to my intel imac (which I'm keeping at home).
When my new iphone4 arrives it will be sent to me while I'm on vacation. I'd like to activate the new phone right away, but how will I be able to transfer the data and apps and music from the old phone to the new. I'm concerned that:
1. If I sync the 3gs to the laptop (G4 Macbook Pro) I may lose all my contacts and apps.
2. Will I be able to sync the iphone4 to my G4 Macbook Pro?
Any advice, red flags or words of wisdom?

Do you have enough space to copy your entire iTunes folder to your MacBook Pro?

Itunes transferring money from old account to new one

Help-
Haven't ordered itunes music for awhile and found my account was an obsolete email (changed servers), so I couldn't sign in. My Itunes has a balance of $26.++
So I set up a new ID, butof course the money did not transfer.
How do I get access to that money???

You also don't have access to any protected purchases you made under the previous account. You can't transfer any credit, I suggest you contact Apple using Express Lane (select your country, navigate to iCloud help and enter the serial number of one of your devices)
