Good evening, I had to reset my iPhone 4s because it was acting possessed. So I have updated it, and its stuck in recovery mode. Now iTunes is saying "it can't complete restore because the iPhone cannot be found" HELP!!
have you backed it up? Because if you follow what I am advising - you will lose all the data on that phone
What happens when your iPhone or iPad is completely non-responsive, even when connected to iTunes? Or perhaps you need to downgrade from beta software. Any of these scenarios will require you to put your iPhone or iPad into Recovery Mode. No need to panic though, we can walk you through each step of the way!
Turn your iPhone or iPad off.
Hold down the Home button and plug it into your computer. Keep holding theHome button until you see a screen telling you to connect to iTunes.
iTunes should show you a popup saying that there is an iPhone or iPad that is in Recovery Mode and needs to be restored before you can use it. Click OK.
Click on Restore iPhone... — or Restore iPad if that's what you're using.
That's all there is to it! Just wait for your iPhone or iPad to reboot and you should be good to go again! Keep in mind if you're using Recovery Mode to downgrade firmware, this may not work if you're trying to downgrade to a version that Apple is no longer signing. Older firmwares are not supported and only the most current official version will be verified correctly in iTunes. -

Why does itunes give an error saying " The Iphone cannot be synced. An unknown error occured (-50)". Everytime I try to sync my phone? I have another Iphone that syncs with the same itunes account and it's working fine.

Christina I can assume you are using windows if so follow these steps
Close iTunes
Click Start - in the start search type in - Services - Click on services with a gear icon - look for Applemobiledevice service.
Click on it - on the left side it will give a start or stop option
click stop - then start and reopen itunes -

If you're using Windows try uninstalling iTunes and all of its components as by following this guide exactly: Windows XP or Windows Vista/7, then reinstall the latest version of iTunes. You must follow this guide exactly or it will not be successful. Note: uninstalling iTunes will only remove the application; it will not touch your iTunes library or data.

Every time I plug my iPhone 5s (32 GB) into my macbook pro, iTunes says: The iPhone "iPhone" cannot be synced. An unknown error occurred (1723). And none of my recently bought songs or my ringtones will transfer to my iPhone. I have iOS 8.1.2. I have only had this iPhone for about a month and a half. A week ago when I plugged it in it would say something along the lines of " This iPhone cannot be synced because the Photo library is not set up. Please try again later." What does that even mean? And now it is saying that it can't sync because of an unknown error. Well, how do I fix this? I have not yet downloaded the Yosemite update because it got horrible reviews and everyone I've talked to said their computer has gotten extra slow because of it so I was wondering if I need to download Yosemite so my iPhone will sync. I have tried turning my computer on and off, quitting and reopening iTunes, restarting my iPhone, and nothing has worked. I would really like to be able to transfer my music and ringtones etc. onto my phone.
Thanks you!You have told us you have iOS 8.1.2, and a non-current version of OS X Do you also have an old iTunes? Current is 12.0.1. I'm quite certain iTunes 12 is required to sync with iOS 8.
The current iPhoto version is 9.6. You are probably behind there as well, and that likely caused the first "photo ..." error. As you may know, iOS is changing its approach to managing photos in iOS 8, so I would imagine it would be important to be current with this application. -

DanaGalYou can easily check whether you've the Apple Mobile Device in your computer.
Right click 'My Computer' , then Manage => Services and Applications => Services. Apple Mobile Device is listed in alphabetical order. If none, it means you've not download iTunes into your computer yet. If yes, please ensure the Apple Mobile Device is in 'Started' status.

Now, hold down the home button on your phone and plug it in to the cable - don't let go of the button until iTunes tells you it's detected a phone in recovery mode. Now you can restore to factory settings.

Hi. I am having the same problem.
I have updated iPhone software and carrier settings, OSX Lion on the comp and in step 4 of 4 during photo sync about half way through, the error message comes up and now my pics are gone from the phone. I did empty the cache and the problem still persisted. I changed cables, I restored the phone and synced from the back up and even restored and created a new phone identity, still no love.
I am puzzeled, any suggestions? -

I can't access a bunch of old song files. any new cds are available to me in itunes. all others are not accessible. how do i merge the new cd's with the old ones so that all the songs are playable in Itunes. thanks.

If iTunes has been directed to use a location on your external hard drive as your iTunes Music Folder location (you can check this in iTunes > Preferences > Advanced tab) you MUST ensure that the hard drive is connected to the computer and mounted in the Finder prior to launching iTunes. So... why not restore them from your backup? If, for some reason, this wasn't an option, you could have also recovered them from any iPod or iPhone they were currently synced to (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848), or, you can also email iTunes Store support and request a "regrant," which is a once-per-account exception they might be able to offer you and allow you to download missing purchases again.
I am now convinced this a HUGE BUG in 7.7.1. and possibly the previous version or two.
I'm not so sure... I've never run across this particular error (my library is stored on my internal hard drive, but copied to an external for backup purposes with an application other than iTunes or Finder. I don't think Apple will provide acknowledgment to issues experienced only by very small numbers of people... I'm one of those, perhaps foolish, individuals who allows my computer to download updates immediately, rather than waiting for fear of problems, and again, I've never had this error.

If you need to authorize your new computer and are unable due to already having five authorized computers, you can deauthorize all computers by doing the following:
1. Click iTunes Store on the left side of iTunes.
2. If you're not signed in to the store, click the Account button, then enter your account name and password.
3. Click the Account button again (your Apple ID appears on the button), enter your password, and then click View Account.
4. In the Account Information window, click Deauthorize All.
Note: You may only use this feature once per year. The Deauthorize All button will not appear if you have fewer than two authorized computers. If you need assistance on using this feature, please contact iTunes Store support via email (http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/).

I updated my itunes to 11 and found out my phone and ipod were not compatible. I uninstalled it and reinstalled 10.7 but now I get an error message when I try to open itunes saying "the file cannot be read because it was created by a newer verison" What do I do?
Thank you for clarify I'm supposed to read the ENTIRE article. I thought I was just supposed to read the title and magically everything will fix itself.
