HT1420 Authorizing/Deauthorizing

If I authorize my computer to an Apple ID account, can I later deauthorize it and get on my different apple accoun on the same computer? i have two accounts and i dont know which one i want to use.

There's no limit to how many Apple IDs one computer can be simultaneously authorized with, but it may not be able to sync content from more than five to a single iPod or similar device.

  • HT1420 I deauthorized all computers so I could authorize a new one. After I authorized this computer, all my music is not showing.

    How do I get my music on the new computer.

    Copy it from your old computer or your backup copy of your old computer.

  • Some songs not authorized/deauthorized

    I recently transferred my data to a new computer. I deauthorized the old first. I authorized the new one. When I synced my ipod, it noted that 10 songs (out of 50 or so purchased) could not be synced because they were not authorized. I tried to play one of them in itunes, and it asked me to authorize. I did and all ten songs then played. It also noted that these songs were authorized on 2 computers. So they did not deauthorize on the other computer. So 10 of my songs are not authorizing/dauthorizing properly. These 10 songs are the oldest purchased songs. How do I deauthorize thse on the old computer, since the computer already thinks it is dauthorized?

    tried deauthorizing the computer for music store account, asked for my apple password as if i was buying a song, did it, did advanced-check for purchases-asked for password again- and then the songs still did not work. i noticed when it says the song is not authorized, it has an AOL screen name and ask for AOL password, don't have AOL though anymore. please help, only the first 45 purchased songs don't work. would appreciate any help, thanks

    De-authorizing Computers (contributed by user John Galt)
    You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
      1. Open iTunes on a computer
      2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
      3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
      4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
      5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
    You may only do this once per year.
    After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
    If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.
    For more information on authorization and de-authorization: iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization.

  • HT1420 authorizing a purchased song

    trying to play a purchased song, but it asks for my authorization. when i "authorize" it, says my computer is already authorized but i still get the same sign in box when i try to play the song. (not just one song, has happened different times with other songs that i have also purchased.) have deauthorized and then re-authorized my whole computer and the same thing happens. suggestions?

    Delete the track from the iTunes library, allowing iTunes to move the track file to the Trash. Then download the track again from the iTunes Store via this procedure:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519
    That fixes the problem for many people. If problems with the track persist, go here:
    iTunes Support
    and follow the instructions to report the issue to the iTunes Store.
    Regards.

  • Authorizing/Deauthorizing Computer

    I have recently gotten a few DVDs with Digital Copies of movies to download. I downlaod them and have them on my iTunes. Everytime I open and want to watch them I have to authorize my computer. The computer I have is already authorized, so it should not be having this issue. Also, I can only verify that it is authorized if I am connected to the internet, so if I am travelling I cannot watch any of these movies. iTunes has been frustrating me with a number of issues and this is just one. See my other threads for my other issues, PLEASE HELP!!!

    Thanks, there is a link on that page to instructions on deauthorizing a computer several times until a message displays saying the computer was -not- authorized and then to re-authorize it. Of course it also says you should do this before doing a repair, hopefully I'll remember this the next time.
    Thanks again,
    John

  • HT1420 Authorized/No longer Authorized error message

    I have authorized my computer but whenever I sync I get an error message that says "This computer is no longer authorized for apps installed on your iphone." It then asks me to authorize or it will delete apps from my phone.  When I click "Authorize" it tells me that "this computer is already authorized."
    I went into iTunes and de-authorized all computers, then re-authorized this one but still get these errors. Any ideas?

    No. You must purchase them under your Apple ID. Anything purchased under someone else's Apple ID will present this same issue. You cannot share items in this way.
    Give the above see the following:
    Sharing Stuff From Different iTunes Accounts (or Computers)
    Here's how to do so using different computers:
    Transfer what content you want to the separate iTunes library on each computer. To transfer content from your library to another library do the following. We'll assume this is between husband and wife separate accounts and different Apple IDs.
    Launch iTunes under your wife's login;
    Sign her out of iTunes, then you sign in;
    Select iTunes -> Preferences -> Devices -> Disable auto-sync when an iPod/iPhone is connected;
    Connect your phone, DO NOT SYNC;
    Select Store -> Authorize this Computer (only have to do this once);
    Select File -> Transfer Purchases (all of the purchased content on your phone will be transferred to your wife's library);
    When complete eject your phone, sign out of iTunes, sign your wife back in.
    You can now sync whatever content you want to your wife's phone. Just remember all updates to apps obtained using your account must be done while signed in using your account: sign wife out, you sign in, update apps, you sign out, sign wife in, sync her phone.
    This way you can share content (permitted under the EUSLA) and still maintain your separate logins. Do the same on your computer if you want to share content from your wife's library.
    Just load whatever content you want to share on each others phones, transfer the content, then delete it from the respective phone if you don't want to keep it there.

    Help, I get an alert says:
    There was an error storing your authorization information on this computer.
    The required file was not found or has a permissions error. Correct this permissions problem and try again, or deauthorize this computer if the permissions cannot be changed.
    I just made the move to iCloud from MobileMe. Following the directions on iCloud for iTunes to push of applications to this computer. iTunes said this computer was not authorized. Tried to authorize and got the above. I repaired the permissions, got the above again. Tried to deauthorize the computer and got the above again. What file has to be rebuilt. Reinstalled iTunes hoping the file would rebuild. I've deactivated all computers, the iPad and other MacBookPro (authorized with no problem) show up in the devices. When I authorized the other MacBookPro it said it was one of three out of five allowed.
    Help, Ive tried everything I know to no avail. Can't get the 17" authorized.

  • HT1420 Authorizing doesn't work on my iTunes and claims that its already authorized. How do I play the songs if I cannot authorize them?

    On my Itunes I have songs from a different Itunes library and different account. Whenever I click one of the songs from the other account ot says that I need to authorize my account, so I type in the correct password and account and hit enter. I comes up with a message that this computer is already authorized, which it is. However, whenever I try to listen to a song, it still comes up with the same message that I'm not authorized.
    I authorized myself via the Itunes menu and it still says that I'm already authorized but none of the songs work. Any help?

    In iTunes you use the Authorize This Computer or De-authorize This Computer option under the Store menu in iTunes' menubar. For Windows use the ALT-S keys to access it. Or turn on Windows 7 and 8 iTunes menus: iTunes- Turning on iTunes menus in Windows 8 and 7.

  • Authorizing deauthorizing computers

    I recently restored all my ITUNES library. I could not play many songs since it seems I needed to "authorize" my computer. I have done this several times and still cannot play many songs. I "de-authorized all of them but I am still prompted to "authorize" but now it seems I have 5 computers authorized and can do no more. However, I went back and "de-authorized all of them again and it says I only have 2 comps authorized. So, what in the heck is going on and how do I fix it? Thx.

    Does this help?

  • Authorizing, deauthorizing, and sharing a computer

    Hi. I just got a new MacBook through work, and I'll be able to use it for personal things, too, including putting my music on it... So, I understand that I can put the itunes library on the new computer and deauthorize the old one, BUT my roommate has some music on the old computer, too. Suppose I decide to more or less give her the old computer (because I am not going to share the work one). Would it work to put my music in the new computer's itunes, save her music on CDs, deauthorize the old computer, reinstall the OS on the old computer, and have her start fresh with just her music in itunes? Thanks for reading!

    It's probably too late, but just in case...
    You can have up to 5 computers authorized to your account. So if you don't insist on wiping the hard drive, you could leave your iTunes account alone and your rommate could play your music and hers.
    If you're going to re-install the OS, definitely de-authorize the computer first. And if you're going to do that, the fastest way to get up and running might be to copy the whole iTunes library back to the old computer over the network and let her delete what she doesn't want. If you don't want to do that, make sure to make the backups by writing data disks. (Preferences->Advanced->Burning, Data CD or DVD). Using DVD-Rs will take a lot less time!

  • HT1420 authorized computers?

    what if I no longer have a computer that is one of my authorized computer?

    If you've got 5 computers authorised for the account in question, and you need to free up authorizations, I'd do a "Deauthorize All" from one of the computers you have access to, and then reauthorize the computers you have access to.
    For instructions, see the following document:
