How do i get round this if i dont have or use old comps and dont want to de-authorise everything else ??
Doublechecking something. Why don't you want to do a Deauthorise All from one of the computers you have access to and then reauthorise the computers you have access to?

  • HT1420 i used 3 old computers for my itunes account that i do not have ANY ACCESS with anymore, that i want to de-authorize.... can i do that without the computers and does it wipe out my existing computer at the same time?????

i used 3 old computers for my itunes account previously, that i have no access to de-authorize now..
can this still be done with my existing computer, and does it de-authorize the current one, so that i would have to re-load it????
the original 3 computers are long gone, in-active....

Individual computers can only be deauthorised directly on them, but as you have more than one computer authorised then you can log into your account on your computer's iTunes via the Store > View Account menu option and 'deauthorise all' (which you can do once every 12 months) and you can then authorise/reauthorise the computers that you still have and need. Deauthorising a computer doesn't remove any content from it, it just means that you won't be able to use any of the account's downloads on it until you reauthorise it.

  • HT1420 Need to deauthorize old computers that no longer work

I have three old computers on my account. They are inoperable so I can't deauthorize them. What do I do? Thank you, Barbara

If you've got 5 computers authorised for the account in question, and you need to free up authorizations, I'd do a "Deauthorize All" from one of the computers you have access to, and then reauthorize the computers you have access to.

  • HT1420 iTunes Authorisation ... which computers?

I keep getting an error message about authorising 5 computers ... OK ... why?
<rant> I have more than 5 personal computers myself ... all of whcih I use for different purposes for myself and my children ... 5 seems to be an archaic number ... especially in relation to the unlimited tablets </rant>
OK ... Apple tell me that a computer (that is 3 years old and has always been authorised) now needs authorising !!! but I have 5 computers already authorised!!!! and this one was authorised today before attaching my new iPad !!!
Where is the list of my authorised computers? How can I see the state of my 'account'?
I have searched for this but only keep coming back to a 'de-authorise all' solution ... which cannot be it ... it is too crass ... most of the posts seemed to be several years old ...
Anybody know where the computer list is?
    thanks.

    Thanks for the quick reply.
I had tried that and it told me that it was not authorised!
Thanks for the confirmation though ... I wonder if Apple could list the computers if somebody were to challenge it in the courts? Just a thought ... it seems both old fashioned and un-apple like ...
Looks like I will have to get the sledge hammer out ... but being careful not to use it more than once per year (!!!) ...
Thanks again ... at least I know not to waste any more time looking.

  • HT1420 why don't you let me authorise 5 computers

why don't you let me authorise 5 computers

These are user-to-user forums, you are not talking to Apple here.  You should be able to authorise 5 computers, but not more than that - old computers that you haven't deauthorised will count in the 5, and a computer could count for more than one authorisation if you haven't deauthorised it prior to updating or reinstalling the OS on it.
Do you currently have 5 computers authorised ? If you do and you no longer have some of them then you can 'deauthorise all' (which you can do once every 12 months) and you should then be able to reauthorise up to 5 computers that you still have and need.

  • HT1420 I have used all or almost all of my 5 authorized computers with my iTunes account. Several are for old computers. Is the best thing to do to deactivate all and start over? Is do not have these old computers anymore. Thanks!

I have used all or almost all of my 5 devices under my I'd on iTunes. Several are on old computers no longer in my possession. Should I simply deactivate all devices and start over? I just want to make sure this does not invite unanticipated issues. Thanks,

Yeah, if you're up to five authorisations I'd deauthorise all and then reauthorise the ones you still have access to.

  • HT1420 I have not been able to log in to my itunes account on my new MBA. Thus I have not been able to reauthorize my old computers. What can i do???

I recently had major issues with my Macbook Air and after several exchanges, I finally have a new and funcioning MBA. The only issue is I cannot login to the Itunes store account.

Click here and ask the iTunes Store staff for assistance. Only they can perform a second Deauthorize All before the year ends.

  • I have obsolete computers attached to my appleid when I try to add the new computers to my itunes store and purchases to keep all data updated and together....and not have to repurchase.  I had a fire...thus, old computers are gone and I cannot unauthoriz

I have obsolete computers and devices attached to my appleid.  I cannot deauthorize them as they are gone!!!  (Had a fire and had to replace all tech systems)  Because I spent alot of monies on my purchases, it would be nice to be able to combine all these items and not have to repurchase them.  How can I update the current number of computers and correct ipods, ipads and iphones together; and get rid of all old computers and ipods, iphones that are authorized under the appleid I have always used.  I have asked this question before, but received no support or answers.  I do have icloud and mobileme, but cant sychonize them either.
I am also seriously considering purchasing a mac, and no longer using the windows pc\s as too many tech difficulties arise when I tackle complicated projects regarding DVD and moving making.  However, I still require pc software for my work.  Will my current backup network system convert easily?  Can it be converted?  Will I require a tech and if so, how much will this cost?  I have recently invested a large sum into creating a network and backup system that has yet to be working as it should.  Unfortuneately it has left me with very little left to try to convert to the mac systems entirely.  Please answer my questions in a language that I can understand.....as this problem is affecting my household, organization and office techniques.  Would like to take care of this problem once and for all.  Mac seems to work with my creative desires much better.  Will await your response.....Thank you.

If you no longer have the computer(s) you want to deauthorise,
Log in to iTunes,  go to "view your account info" on the itunes store,  deauthorise all five, (Please Note: this can only be done Once every 12 months)  and then re-authorize your current Computer(s) one at a time.

  • Home Sharing does not work between a new computer and old computers

    Hello Guys,
I recently brought a new sony vaio laptop however it does not seem to work with my current homesharing system. My old laptop and the old computers which worked together, still work fine across different versions of itunes including the newest one. However my new laptop has the new itunes but it doesn't work. The old computers/laptops can pick up the new laptop and homeshare across however this new one cannot sense any. All are on same network as well as all have been athorised and on same homesharing. Doesn't seem to be firewall either. Help Windows 8 to Windows Vista to iOS newest one.

Fixed my problem. I just needed to upgrade the firmware on my router.

  • How do I combine Thunderbird setups each accessing different sets of multiple email accounts on 2 old computers into one Thunderbird setup on my new computer?

The laptop accesses my personal email accounts (4 different ones) and my business email accounts (2 different ones). The old desktop accesses my personal email accounts and my wife's emails (2 accounts for her). I now have a new desktop computer and I would like to access all accounts from a single Thunderbird. It would be extremely tedious to start a new Thunderbird and enter all the account information for all of these multiple accounts from a fresh start and re-download all the emails. I know I can backup the Thunderbird profiles separately and restore them to separate Thunderbird instances on two separate users, but it is a pain to switch users each time one of us needs to see a different email account. If the multiple accounts cannot be restored into a singe new Thunderbird instance, is there a way to set up two Thunderbird instances on a single user's desktop and restore one computer's backup into one Thunderbird and the other into the second? Thank you.

Setting up the accounts anew in a fresh installation is probably the least tedious part of all this.
Merging your various email stores is ikely to involve moving gigabytes of data. You don't want to do that piecemeal.
I'd start with the most recent of your profiles and install that into the new Thunderbird. Then I'd add the required accounts whilst the old computers are accessible to double-check their settings for the accounts.
Then I'd import the mail stores from the older profiles using https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/importexporttools/
You haven't indicated if any or many of these accounts use IMAP, in which case all you need to do is set up the account on the new computer and the stored data will find its own way in.
While you have all your old profiles marshalled, it would be worth your while to import address book files too, using: https://nic-nac-project.org/~kaosmos/morecols-en.html to retrieve the *.mab files.
