HT1420 De authorizing crashed computer
How do you de authorize a computer that has crashed & no longer works? Or one you don't have anymore
You cannot until you reach the limit of 5.
You can then deauthorize all.

HT1420 De-authorizing a computer that crashed
Hello!
My old computer crashed so I cannot de-authorize it. Tried authorizing my new computer, but we have too many computers associated with this account. Question is: How do I de-authorize my broken computer so that I can authorize my new computer.
Thanks,
GabyYou need to deauthorize all, then authorize the active computers.

I just authorized my home computer - I primarily use my Mac laptop to use my iTunes, but I wanted to be able to burn CDs for my car - and none of my purchased music (or really, any of my purchased items) is coming up. What went wrong?
Nothing. Putting your previous purchases onto a different computer is a separate process.

I need to deauthorize a crashed laptop that is no longer usable. I can only find how to deauthorize "this" computer. Can anyone help?
You need to use the Deauthorize All function. Remote individual deauthorization of a crashed computer isn't possible, and remote deauthorization of a working computer requires VNC access to it.

I need help!
I have benn trying to upgrade my itouch operating system, but I can't seem to. When I do the whole process of authorizing my computer then go to transfer my purchases It says that I have to authorize the computer, the thing is that it is already authorized. Even when I have try what seems to me like a hundred times it still wont work. Can someone give me especifique instruccions on what I can do?Did you install iTunes?
Once downlaoded, iTunes should have installed, and open once installed.
If its not open you can look for it in your Start Menu in Windows or Finder in Mac.

I am having trouble "authorizing" my computer. I tried to follow the steps I found posted on line, but I don't see an option that says "authorize my computer". Maybe I am looking in the wrong place??
Open itunes.
Click the word Store at the top of your computer screen
Click Authorize -
I am trying to authorize a computer. But I can't locate the"authorized this computer" on the iTunes store menu. I can't find it under any topics across the menu bar at the top of the page. Can anyone help me find it? Thanks.
It should be on the Store drop-down menu at the top of iTunes (if you are using iTunes 11 on a PC then try pressing Alt-S and see if it appears) e.g. (screenshot is from iTunes on a Mac)

The instructions for authorizing my computer are incorrect. It says to go to "Store" and then "authorize" is supposed to drop down, but it doesn't. Help!
There's a couple of ways to get through to the authorisation controls in the 11.0.x versions.
The control is still in the Store menu, but first (if you're using iTunes versions 11.0.x) you might need to bring up the menu bar to see the Store menu.
If you're using 11.0.x, click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Then you'll find the control in the Store menu:
Alternatively, if you don't want to bring up the menu bar, it's still possible to get into the authorise controls via nested menus accessible from the wee boxy icon. Here's a screenshot of where to find them: -
I'm trying to transfer mu music that's not in my itunes library from my iphone 4. But I can't seem to figure it out I authorized my computer. But I am getting a new iphone so i want to put the music on my computer so when I get my new iphone I can transfer it back.
Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer is based on you maintaining your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is purchased content.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only media purchased from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will probably have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):

The instructions for authorizing a computer are completely unclear. I have de-authorized all existing computers and I want to add only one — the new one I bought following a computer crash. Can anyone tell me how to do that?
In iTunes, go to the Store menu item on the menu bar, and choose Authorize This Computer, as shown below.
If by any chance you don't see the menu bar (File, Edit, View, Controls, Store, Help), first enable it by using CTRL+B. -
Only one song won't play after authorizing my computer. I authorized it over and over. I even deauthorized all computers, and still same results. How can I fix this ? I'm using a MacBook Pro with iTunes 11
Hi Deb,
Deauthorizing all is definitely the way to go. You will just need to authorize your computer again after, as well as your husband's.
Here's some additional information on deauthorizing all:

I hope this helps!

if you don't have access to the machine (or it is unuseable), you have no choice.

When I first got my iphone i plugged it into my friends computer and added songs from their itunes. Now when i plug it into my computer it will not connect or show up in the sidebar in itunes. I have already tried factory resetting the phone and 'authorizing this computer' in itunes. Can anyone help?
Is your iTunes up to date, it is now 10.7, click the iTunes button at the top of this page if you need the new version.

I tried to sync my iPhone to my macbook and got an error message. It said some of the items purchased on my iPhone could not be transferred to my iTines library because I am not authorized for them on this computer. I have followed the instructions and authorized my computer. I did this many times and I still have the same problem.
Can you tell us what text is in the part that you can read ?
Is it a message from Firefox or from the Mac Operating System ?
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
