HT1420 deauthorize a stolen computer

I have 5 authorized computers on my account, 2 of which I am no longer in possesion of.  Is there a way to deactivate a stolen computer without deactivating all my computers and reactivating the ones I want?
thanks

No, individual computers can only be deauthorised directly on them, you will need to 'deauthorise all' and then reauthorise the computers that you still have.

My Macbook pro was stolen. It was our main itunes machine. Can I (1) get my stolen MAC's serial number from itunes, and (2) deauthorize that machine remotely? If so how!
    thanks

You can dauthorize all computers, but you cannot deauthorize that computer because it is no longer in your possession to do so.
About De-authorizing Computers (contributed by user John Galt)
You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
      1. Open iTunes on a computer
      2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
      3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
      4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
      5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.
Also, see iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization.

  • HT1420 deauthorize a lost or stolen computer

How do I deauthorize a stolen computer?

You will have to deauthorize all your computers, then reauthorize the ones you still have. Note that you can only deauthorize all computers once per year.
Open iTunes Store, click on Account link under Quick Links. The option is available in your account screen.

You don't need the other computer for that:

  • HT1420 I need to deauthorize a stolen ipod.  Will I need to deauthorize everything then re-establish the remaining devices again?

I need to deauthorize a stolen ipod.  Will I need to deauthorize everything then re-establish the remaining devices again?

    Why would they care??
Maybe to stop somebody from downloading a movie with a junk account, and distributing it on the net with the authorization information so it could be passed though thousands of computers in a week or two?
And more to the point, why don’t they just give you a list of the computers and let me deauthorize the specific ones you need.
Let's say I saw you log into your account, or just managed to hack your information somehow.  I could have all kinds of fun driving you crazy by deauthorizing your computer remotely, then you'd authorize it, and I'd deauthorize it again...  hence you can only deuthorize computers individually to which you have physical access.
Note that it is in Apple's interest to make it as easy as possible for you to spend money buying things from them.  Likely it is the media companies who have told Apple that if they want to be able to sell their movies they have to use certain restrictions.

  • HT1420 How can I deauthorize an old computer that I have no access to?

How can I deauthorize an old computer that I have no access to?

You cannot yourself deauthorize a computer that's not working or to which you no longer have access. You can authorize a total of up to five systems, so unless you've hit that limit it's probably not really important that you deauthorize your dead unit now. Once you reach five total authorizations, a button will appear in your iTunes Store account that will allow you to deauthorize all your systems, so that would at that time recover the now-useless authorization.
If for some reason you really feel you need to deauthorize a system and you're not at the five-system limit, you can try contacting  the iTunes Store customer support department through their Contact form (follow the on-screen instructions)  and explaining the problem to them. They might be willing to clear your authorizations for you.

  • HT1420 What do I do if my old computer died, so there was no warning or time to "deauthorize" the old computer?

What do I do if my old computer died, so there was no warning or time "deauthorize" the old computer?  I want itunes on my other computers, but cannot get it off of the old one in order to be able to have my new computer be the "5th".  Why is there even a limit like 5 ?  In a family of 6, that makes no sense!!

If you've got 5 computers authorised for the account in question, and you need to free up authorizations, I'd do a "Deauthorize All" from one of the computers you have access to, and then reauthorize the computers you have access to.
For instructions, see the following document:

  • HT1420 how do you deauthorize just one computer?

Can you deauthorize just one computer you no longer have? And if not when you deauthorize ALL, do you just reload???

when you deauthorize ALL, do you just reload???
No you do not reload.  When you deauthorize, your music stays exactly where it is.
You can reauthorize at any time, provided the computer is in working condition and you are able to physically access it (and you still know your ID and password).

  • Deauthorize a stolen MacBook Pro - "deauthorize all" not an option

My MacBook Pro was stolen yesterday, and I'd like to deauthorize that laptop so the thieves can't access the music (assuming they can hack the account and get into the machine without a wiping it clean first). I only have two other machines authorized (home iMac, wife's MBP), so I don't have the full 5 accounts authorized to "deauthorize all". Any ideas how I can deauthorize the stolen laptop?

Take a look at this Apple support article; it may help:
One computer using multiple iTunes Store authorizations
If not, and you've already done the "deauthorize all" in the last calendar year, you'll have to contact the iTunes Store and ask if they'll deauthorize your systems for you.

  • If I deauthorize my stolen ipad, does that mean whoever stole it won"t be able to use the aps, music etc I purchased from Itunes?

If I deauthorize my stolen ipad, does this mean that whoever stole it won't be able to sue the aps, books, music etc that I purchased from Itunes?

You can't deauthorize an iPad. You deauthorize computers. Deauthorizing your computer will do nothing for the iPad. See the following:
What To Do If Your iDevice Is Lost Or Stolen
If you activated Find My Phone before it was lost or stolen, you can track it only if Wi-Fi is enabled on the device. What you cannot do is track your device using a serial number or other identifying number. You cannot expect Apple or anyone else to find your device for you. You cannot recover your loss unless you insure your device for such loss. It is not covered by your warranty.
If your iPhone, iPod, iPod Touch, or iPad is lost or stolen what do you do? There are things you should have done in advance - before you lost it or it was stolen - and some things to do after the fact. Here are some suggestions:

  • I need to deauthorize the original computer that home share was created on.  Will I lose everything by deauthorizing the original computer from which home sharing was created?

My home share was created on my original computer which we wish to disconnect. Can I deauthorize this original computer without losing everything? I am not all that savy with this and don't really understand where the home share is actually stored.

    Hey tswer,
Thanks for the question. Home Sharing allows you to share music between multiple computers if you continue to use both, but it doesn't create a lasting backup. Considering that you wish to discontinue use of the original computer, it'll be best to transfer your iTunes library to the new computer via an external drive. For information on doing so, please see this article:
iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
(For best results, you may want to use the external drive section of the above resource)
As far as deauthorizing the original computer, see the following:
iTunes Store: About authorization and deauthorization

    Thanks,
