HT1420 How do i authorise a computer which is new?

I cannot work out how to authorise another computer to the same iphone

There's a couple of ways to get through to the authorisation controls in the 11.0.x versions.
The control is still in the Store menu, but first (if you're using iTunes versions 11.0.x) you might need to bring up the menu bar to see the Store menu.
If you're using 11.0.x, click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Then you'll find the control in the Store menu:
Alternatively, if you don't want to bring up the menu bar, it's still possible to get into the authorise controls via nested menus accessible from the wee boxy icon. Here's a screenshot of where to find them:

  • HT1420 How do you authorise a computer on the new iTunes? (2013)

    Hello,
I'm using iTunes on Windows 8, and I have recently updated iTunes, it's a very different layout from the previous one I had for ages, I can't remember when I updated, but it was in 2013.
I have moved from one computer to another (the old one broke) but I cannot synchronise my iTunes from iCloud onto this computer, I was wondering how you authorise iTunes onto this new computer. I deauthorised the last computer I had and I now only have my iPad synchronised to iTunes. I have tried to look up how to authorise iTunes onto a new computer, but everyone says 'click on store and then click on authorise', I can't seem to find this option!
Any help would be much appreciated!
    Thanks in advance.

Press the Alt and S keys and choose Authorize this Computer, or click here, follow the instructions, click on Store in the menu bar, and choose Authorize this Computer.

  • HT1420 how do i deauthorise  a computer which has crashed on me. Also I have 4 other computers which are authorised

How do I deauthorise a computer which has crashed. Also I have five computers authorised and need to deautorise the one which has crashed and have no access so i can authorise the new iMac which I have purchased

    You cannot
You must deauthorize all, then authorize the active computers.

  • HT1420 How do I authorise my computer for iTunes when there is no "authorize this computer" or Advanced menu ?  When Apple say Store menu do they mean from the top of the store when logged in ?

Where is the iTunes Store menu that has Authorize this Computer located and/or Advanced menu ? How do I authorise my computer for iTunes if I cannot find Authorize this Computer or Advanced menu ?  Thank you.

It's done via the Store drop-down menu at the top of iTunes - if you are using iTunes 11 on a PC then pressing Alt-S should get the Store menu to appear e.g. (screenshot is from a Mac, but it should be similar on a PC) :

  • HT1420 How do I authorise my computer to play songs purchased with an old apple id for which I no longer have the password?

I recently purchased a mac for my daughter. On transfering some songs to her machine from my computer, I was asked for authorisation which I provided.
Some songs however, although they play with no problems on my other two machines, on HER computer asked me to authorise the songs with an apple ID and Password that I no longer have and haven't used in about 5 years. The e-mail ID is closed down now, and I can't remember the password.
    What do I do?

All downloads from the store are tied to the account that downloaded them, so if those songs were bought by that old account then only that old account will be able to authorise them. If you can't remember the password but you know it's security info then you could try getting the password reset via this page : http://iforgot.apple.com - if you can then you can change the primary email address on it by logging into the account : http://appleid.apple.com
If you can't get the password reset that way then you could try contacting iTunes Support : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page
    Or maybe Apple : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699

As the title says. According to iTunes I have 5 computers authorised to an old email address which I purchased many songs through. I've never owned 5 computers and indeed my new email address had only been linked to two computers but iTunes says this is my 5th!! The old computer was scrapped several years ago so I can't de-authorise it. What now?
Any answers please bear in mind I'm a muggle where computers are concerned :-)

    Authorization and Deauthorization
Macs:  iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization.
Windows: How to Authorize or Deauthorize iTunes | PCWorld.
In iTunes you use the Authorize This Computer or De-authorize This Computer option under the Store menu in iTunes' menubar. For Windows use the ALT-S keys to access it. Or turn on Windows 7 and 8 iTunes menus: iTunes- Turning on iTunes menus in Windows 8 and 7.
More On De-authorizing Computers (contributed by user John Galt)
You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
      1. Open iTunes on a computer
      2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
      3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
      4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
      5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.

    Hello there, Gemss.
The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great recommendations for the issue you're describing:
iTunes repeatedly prompts to authorize computer to play iTunes Store purchases
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1389
Although all of the scenarios may be applicable, many folks find that the following section helps resolve their issue most often:
Authorize using the correct account name
The items you're trying to play might have been purchased using a different iTunes Store account. To determine which account was used to purchase an item, follow these steps:
Select a purchased song in your library and choose File > Get Info.
Click the Summary tab. Note the Account Name that appears in the list. This is the account name (Apple ID) you'll need to use when authorizing your computer to play this purchase.
Note: The account name that appears is the one you used when purchasing the item and does not change if the account name (Apple ID) changes.
If you've authorized the Apple ID that is shown in the Summary tab, you can check the purchase history for that Apple ID from Store > View My Account. If your purchase history does not reflect the purchase of the items in your iTunes library, consider any other Apple ID you may have created, and authorize the computer for your additional Apple ID.
If you forgot the password to one of your accounts, you can recover it using Apple's password-recovery website.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • HT1420 how do i Deauthorize a computer that has had the hard drive lock up and can not get it working

how do  i deauthorize a computer that has had the hard drive lock up and can not get it working

You can only deauthorise individual computers directly on them. Otherwise if you've reached the 5 computer limit, then you should be able to log into your iTunes account and 'deauthorise all' (which you can only do once every 12 months) and you can then (re-)authorise up to 5 computers : authorising and deauthorising.

How do I deauthorize my computer once it is no longer in use?  I got rid of some computers, and didn't deauthorize them first.  Any help would be appreciated.

If you've got 5 computers authorised for the account in question, and you need to free up authorizations, I'd do a "Deauthorize All" from one of the computers you have access to, and then reauthorize the computers you have access to.
