HT1420 how to deauthorize my ipad

You can only have 5 devices authorized.  I just purchase a new Apple iMac and need to deauthorize my ipad so that I can authorize my new iMac, how do I deauthorize the ipad?

"You can only have 5 devices authorized."
Not true at all.  Authorization applies only to computers.  it does not apply to ipod/ipad/iphone/Apple tvs at all.

Authorisation ONLY applies to Computers... Not iDevices.

how to deauthorize a computer that is not with me anymore?

If you log into your account via the Store > View Account menu option on your computer's iTunes then on your account's screen (under the 'Apple ID Summary' heading) there should be a 'Computer Authorisations' line with a 'Deauthorise All' button to the right of it - you can only 'deauthorise all' once every 12 months.

how to deauthorize a computer? so i may authorize a new computer.

Sign into your iTunes account with the old computer. Select Deauthorize This Computer under the Store menu.
If you no longer have the old computer then open iTunes Store on the new computer, click on the Account link under Quick Links. From your account page Deauthorize All computers is available. Note that you can use this option only one a year.

  • HT1420 How to deauthorize, old crashed laptop?

I have an old Macbook Pro (PPC) that died a long time ago, which was the first Mac I authorized.  I'm not going to pay to have it repaired... I have a new Retina display and 2 more Mac Pros.   As far as I can tell, Apple does not have a "control panel" that shows the specific systems I've authorized (gee, you would think that would be a no-brainer?), unless I'm missing something.
So my question is, so I can authorize my new Retina Macbook, how can I deauthorize the other (very dead) laptop?
    Thanks.

About De-authorizing Computers (contributed by user John Galt)
You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
      1. Open iTunes on a computer
      2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
      3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
      4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
      5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
Also, see iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization.

  • HT1420 how to deauthorize a computer that is not working

I have a few computers on my acct that are no longer working. I can't turn them on to deauthorize them. Is there a way that I can do this from my current computer?

    Yes.
For computers: You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. Otherwise you can "deauthorize all" from your iTunes account.
    Open iTunes on a computer
From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
Under "Computer Authorizations" select "Deauthorize All".
Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "deauthorize all" your authorized computers, authorize each one as required.
It is also possible to have mistakenly authorized a computer more than once. To fix that:
    Open iTunes.
From the Store menu, choose "Deauthorize This Computer…"
Enter your account name and password.
Click OK. A message appears reading "This computer has been successfully deauthorized."
    Click OK.
Repeat steps 2 through 5 above. If you see the same message reading: "This computer has been successfully deauthorized," then your computer was using multiple authorizations.
Repeat steps 2 through 5 above until you see a message reading "This computer was not authorized. To authorize this computer, play a song or video you have purchased using this account."

  • HT1420 How to authorize an iPad for iTunes

I am having a problem finding where I go to to authorize my iPad for iTunes. I am not sure which operating system I have. Can you hel?

Authorising and deauthorising is only for computers, iOS devices (iPads, iPhones and iPod Touches) don't needit. Are you getting an error message that implies that it needs authorising ?

  • HT1420 How to deauthorize all computers if you no longer have access to the authorized computers

I have a new computer and have moved to a new state.  I tried to authorize this computer but unable b/c I've used my 5 authorizations.  Besides contacting people to deauthorize my old computers, what can I do from here?

Use the iTunes command Store > Deauthorize All, and then re-authorize just the ones you are going to use.
That command only appears if you are at the limit of 5, and you can only use it once per 12 months.

  • HT1420 how to deauthorize broken computer on my account

i have no luck with computers i have gone through 5 laptops and didnt deauthorize them.  Now i have a new computer but itunes wont let me authorize it. As  it has already got 5 authorized
    help please

Individual computers can only be deauthorised directly on them, but if you have 2 or more computers authorised then you can log into your account on your computer's iTunes (Store > View My Account) and 'deauthorise all' (which you can do once every 12 months) and you can then authorise/reauthorise the computers that you still have and need : authorising and deauthorising.

  • HT1420 My laptop crashed and I have authorized another laptop. I want to deauthorize the "crashed" computer but it is no longer working. All I can find is how to deauthorize "this" computer. Any way I can do that?

I need to deauthorize a crashed laptop that is no longer usable. I can only find how to deauthorize "this" computer. Can anyone help?

You need to use the Deauthorize All function. Remote individual deauthorization of a crashed computer isn't possible, and remote deauthorization of a working computer requires VNC access to it.
