HT1420 how to deauthorize without the computer?

A laptop has cannot be saved, booted up or turned on.  It is one of our 5 authorized computers.  We need to authorize a new laptop. How can we deauthorize a computer without the computer we intend to deauthorize?

By using the Deauthorize All function.

No. You need a computer with iTunes and an internet connection.
Place the iPod in recovery mode using one of these programs and then restore via iTunes:

    If necessary:

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:

  • How to deauthorize a fried computer?

I'm a longtime Mac user - recently, my iBook took a dive and the logic board is fried. We went out and purchased not one, but two new computers to add to our network - alas, I can't deauthorize the dead laptop for obvious reasons, so that I can activate my purchased iTunes on the new computer because now there are more than five on my account.
Any idea how to deauthorize a dead computer so we can get this new iMac up and running with Tunes?

If you've reached five total authorizations, log into your iTunes Store account. A button will appear in your iTunes Store account that will allow you to deauthorize all your systems so that you can reauthorize the ones you have working.

    18. What is the maximum resolution available for use with the Apple Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter?
The resolution available with the Apple Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter is 1920 x 1200. VGA displays that use higher refresh rates (such as 85 Hz) at resolutions of 1600 x 1200 or greater may not generate video properly until you lower the refresh rate.

    How can I detect displays?
If the detect displays option is not available, hold down the Option key while you are in the Display pane.
How do I select additional resolutions on my display?
You can use the Display pane of System Preferences to specify how your display works. Not all options appear for all display models. By default the best resolution for your display will already be selected in System Preferences.
To select a different resolution, use the Scaled option. Some additional resolutions may be available when you hold the Option button.
I hope this information helps ....

  • I downloaded the new Pages and Numbers through my app store but when I open my old documents, it still tells me my 30 day trial is over. How do I get the computer to automatically recognize the new applications?

More information: I have a 3 year old MacBook and had been using "Microsoft for Mac" until last week when I took my MacBook in for some upgrades- including the operating system Lion. I have been unable to use the Word, Excel, etc. programs because they are not supported on the new operating system... and I already used my 30 day trial of iWork when we first purchased the computer. I decided to buy Pages and Numbers through the App Store icon. When I open the Pages and Numbers under my Applications, I can get them to work. However, when I open old documents saved on my computer, they go into the 'old' iWork messages of that my trial has expired. How do I get the computer to automatically recognize that I've purchased Pages and Numbers?

You need to delete the trial & then reinstall from the boxed DVD or the Mac App Store. The files to delete are the iWork ’09 folder from the main HD > Applications; the iWork ’09 folder in HD > Library > Application Support & the individual iWork application plist files found in HD > Users > (your account) > Library > Preferences for each user.
Yvan Koenig has written an AppleScript that removes the files. You can find it on his box.com account in for_iWork'09 > other_iWork'09 items > uninstall iWork '09.zip.

  • My ipods are no longer recognized after I installed my Iphone I have 2 ipods that I have music on and still want to use them so how do I get the computer to recognize the ipods again?

I recently got an Iphone and after I installed it on my computer my 2 ipods are no longer able to sync to the computer how do I get the computer to recognize the 2 different ipods so I can still use them?

Since you already had two iPod before getting the iPhone, what exactly did you need to "install" to use the iPhone?  Doesn't it use to the same iTunes installation you already used with the iPods?
So, I guess my question is, what changed on the computer when you started using the iPhone?
What happens now when you connect the iPod?  Is the iPod still seen in Windows device manager?

  • Installing Adobe Creative Suite - NEW 21" late 2012 iMac - Don't want to buy superdrive!! How can I trick the computer into thinking the USB drive is a CD?

I've got a new late 2012 imac, but I realize yes it doesn't come with a compact disc drive. I have an Adobe Creative Suite CS5.5 install disc with all the information included (serial). I copied the contents of the CD into a USB Flash drive, but I can't get it to install because it is looking for the content on the CD. Since I don't want to have to buy the external Superdrive!! How do I convince the computer into installing adobe via the files on the flash drive?

Your question makes perfect sense to me. I would contact Adobe Supptrt Services from the contacts listed here:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/install-creative-suite-5-cs5.html
You will need adobe current serial number.
I hope you'll post here with your results. I've interested know what happens.

  • How do I get the computer to automatically eject a drive before it enters Sleep?"

I have an external eSATA drive connected via PCI Express card to my Mac Pro.  When I wake the computer, I get a complaint about not correctly ejecting the disk.  How can I get the computer to eject the drive before entering Sleep?  There are two partitions on the drive, so the answer will need to include "Eject All."  Perhaps an Apple Script could tell the drive to eject, but how to automatically run it?  If I could schedule it to run five or ten minutes before the scheduled Sleep, that should work.
The reason for the external drive is to back up my TiVo recordings...WARNING...If you have a DVR Expander connected to your TiVo and EITHER fails, you lose everything!  I now transfer all my recordings from my TiVos to this drive so I won't lose recordings in the future.  Plus I can take the drive with me and connect it via a Thunderbolt wire and watch them on my laptop.

In the text you say you are using Snow Leopard. Snow Leopard will not operate on a G4 (or any Mac with a PowerPC processor). Leopard OS 10.5 is the max OS for PowerPC processor Macs. Your profile shows OS 10.5.6. What OS are you using (or trying to use)?

I have just bought an ipod classic, I already have an ipod nano.  The new ipod was connected to the computer to charge and it named itself with my name on the old nano, how do I get the computer to recognise the new one?

My mistake, it was nothing to do with format.  It woldn't sync because my movies were HD.  HD movies won't sync to an iopd classic 160 GB but when you purchase a HD movie, itunes gives you a SD vervsion of the movie which is compatible with the ipod.  Just needed to go to store, click movies, click purchased and untick the HD box and there you have the SD versions.  Download the SD versions and then sync your ipod and bobs you uncle, movies are on the ipod

I have an iMac for work and I am leaving the company. How do I clear the computer so that my soon to be former company is unable to see my personal information Ie. - internet, contacts, etc...

Follow these instructions step by step to prepare a Mac for sale:
Step One - Back up your data:
           A. If you have any Virtual PCs shut them down. They cannot be in their "fast saved" state. They must be shut down from inside Windows.
           B. Clone to an external drive using using Carbon Copy Cloner.
              1. Open Carbon Copy Cloner.
              2. Select the Source volume from the Select a source drop down menu on the left side.
              3. Select the Destination volume from the Select a destination drop down menu on the right
                  side.
              4. Click on the Clone button. If you are prompted about creating a clone of the Recovery HD be
                  sure to opt for that.
Destination means a freshly erased external backup drive. Source means the internal
                   startup drive.
Step Two - Prepare the machine for the new buyer:
              1. De-authorize the computer in iTunes! De-authorize both iTunes and Audible accounts.
2, Remove any Open Firmware passwords or Firmware passwords.
              3. Turn the brightness full up and volume nearly so.
              4. Turn off File Vault, if enabled.
              5. Disable iCloud, if enabled: See.What to do with iCloud before selling your computer
Step Three - Install a fresh OS:
         A. Snow Leopard and earlier versions of OS X
              1. Insert the original OS X install CD/DVD that came with your computer.
              2. Restart the computer while holding down the C key to boot from the CD/DVD.
              3. Select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu; repartition and reformat the internal hard drive.
Optionally, click on the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass.
              4. Install OS X.
              5. Upon completion DO NOT restart the computer.
              6. Shutdown the computer.
         B. Lion and Mountain Lion (if pre-installed on the computer at purchase*)
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because
it is three times faster than wireless.
              1. Restart the computer while holding down the COMMAND and R keys until the Mac OS X
                  Utilities window appears.
              2. Select Disk Utility from the Mac OS X Utilities window and click on the Continue button.
              3. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the left side list. Click
on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
              4. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on the Security button
and set the Zero Data option to one-pass.
              5. Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
              6. Quit DU and return to the Mac OS X Utilities window.
              7. Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button.
              8. Upon completion shutdown the computer.
*If your computer came with Lion or Mountain Lion pre-installed then you are entitled to transfer your license once. If you purchased Lion or Mountain Lion from the App Store then you cannot transfer your license to another party. In the case of the latter you should install the original version of OS X that came with your computer. You need to repartition the hard drive as well as reformat it; this will assure that the Recovery HD partition is removed. See Step Three above. You may verify these requirements by reviewing your OS X Software License.
