I am trying to authorise a new lap top for my itunes account. The instructions to me to open my itunes and go to Store then choose "Authorize this computor" or if using an older version of itunes to go to the Advanced menu. Neither of these two items appear under "Store" when I open itunes. Am I in the wrong "Store" as I cannot locate anything thing similar on the open itunes.

Bob,
They did not mean the Store; they meant the Store menu on the iTunes menu bar! It is in a row with File, Edit, View, Controls, Store, and Help, as shown below.
If you don't see the menu bar, enable it by holding the CTRL key and pressing B.

That message is usually a sign that you tried to roll back to an earlier build of iTunes, but occasionally I've seen it connected to a new upgrade. This technique should fix things.
Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

Pay no attention to iinami, the amount of replies to people saying their handsets must have been jailbroken everytime iTunes throws out an error is tremendous. Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.

Try to going to the section where the sound is coming from and see if the video or speech is still active for some reason. See if there is a way to quit it.

Why can't I sync my iPad when it opens iTunes.
I don't know what to do. I don't want to restore and lose things on my iPad. It pulled up iTunes like normal when I pluged it in, but it will not sync. I have the option in the middle of the screen to restore. At the bottom where it normally has sync it has revert. I also have a lot of "other" when I don't normally. What could that be?
What message are you getting, if any?
Is your iPad showing up in iTunes when you connect it? If not, unplug it from the computer and re-plug it. Sometimes it is best to try a different USB port. -
