HT1420 I have "authorized" my new computer--still not authorized to play itunes music associated with old apple id

I have "authorized" my new computer in itunes to play and sync old itunes library. However, not all songs can be played due to a continuing authority problem. Apparently, these old songs are associated with a old user apply id--and old--no longer accessible email address. What can I do to associate music (which I paid for) on an old outdated apple id to my current apple id?  Thank you!

Copy it from the other computer or from your backup copy of your other computer.

I want to transfer my entire music library from one computer to another without using a usb drive or cds. How can i transfer the music without using either a cd or a usb?

You need to use a 3rd party utility such as Touchcopy - this will allow you to rebuild your library on the computer from the iPhone.

  • My new computer was not "authorized", so how do I do it?

I did not have an authorization prompt/button for my new computer, so I deauthorized all computers since my old one died.  I thought that would give me a prompt, but it did not.  Any ideas?

There's a couple of ways to get through to the authorisation controls in the 11.0.x versions.
The control is still in the Store menu, but first (if you're using iTunes versions 11.0.x) you might need to bring up the menu bar to see the Store menu.
If you're using 11.0.x, click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Then you'll find the control in the Store menu:
Alternatively, if you don't want to bring up the menu bar, it's still possible to get into the authorise controls via nested menus accessible from the wee boxy icon. Here's a screenshot of where to find them:

  • New computer but "not authorized" error

I recently got a new computer and followed the steps here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300173
to move all my music from the old to the new computer. Everythnig worked fine untill I tried to update my ipod. When I did this I get an error essentially saying that some of my songs were not updated because I am not authorized to play them. What does this mean? I have read some posts but have not found a clear answer to my problem. I wonder if I need to deauthorize the old computer first? I have not done that yet because I am not sure. Any help would be appreciated. CUrrently I have three ipods in the family with three seperate accounts and itunes on 5 computers. Thanks

    Paul,
I am no expert but I am pretty sure there is a max of 5 authorized computers. I also ran into this today when I tried to download some tunes to my daughter's new nano (I had only 1 computer authorized). Try clicking on a downloaded song (and let it start to play in iTunes)..a message will pop up that the computer is now authorized (unless you have hit the max). Hope it works for you.

  • I recently purchased a new computer and tried to move my itunes music to the new PC, I am not savay on computers, but music will not play on new PC, error (!) will not play and have to locate.  Why is this please help.

please help, someone that doesn't have the savay on moving music from an old pc to a new pc.  Music will not play message comes up and have to search. also purchased music from iPhone and does not show on my music library on PC.  This is very frustrating.  Thank you

It all depends on exactly how you move the library from one machine to the other. The database holding information about your library is normally in a folder called iTunes, with the media in a subfolder called iTunes Media. In this layout you can usually copy the entire iTunes folder from one machine to the other and it will work. If the media folder is split to a new location however then often the links to tracks will fail on a new computer.
You shoud find that the FindTracks script is able to repair the links in your library.
I'm not sure I know what is going on with the purchased music, however if you enable Edit > Preferences > Store > Automatic Downloads > Music you should be able to recover your past store purchases.

  • My new computer will not let me use my photoshop.  My old computer does not have photoshop any more.

I am unable to use photoshop on my new computer because my old computer was not deactivated before photoshop was taken off.  I only have photoshop on one other computer and I need it to be on my new one.  How can I make this happen?

Contact customer support (by chat or phone); they can help you reset the activation count.

  • Old computer crashed, have new computer, how to tranfer.  Already have files on new computer, but wont show up in iTunes

I guess my title is too long, sorry.  Old computer crashed, have new computer, already tranfered songs to new computer, but can't get them to show up in ITunes.  I have 2007 version of IPod, only a few songs on, and won't even transfer those.

Finally figured it out.  Just had to store all my songs/ folders in the iTunes folder.  My old computer folder set up threw me off, had duplicate folders of songs that messed everything up when copied over.
Thanks for your help though, appreciate it.

  • I have an Iphone 4s which I bought used, its unlocked and i put it on T-mobile. I see that the person who was using it before may have been Chinese, my computer is not recognizing it and itunes either. What can i do?

I want to Delete everything in it, but since it cannot be recognized by my computer and doesn't show on Itunes, I cannot do it. It has some a jailbreak which the last user put into it, might be Redsnow, and most of the app's and other stuff on the phone I cannot use it only says loading after I press it and then dissappears. The last user may have been Chinese, in which he put a chinese jailbreak and since i changed the language etc. of the iphone some things show up as little squares instead of normal english format. Please Help, Ive been looking all over google etc. and tried to fix it myself but nothing has worked.

I have the same problem with my 4S too, if the slider won't even let you slide, the it's most likely that the WiFi module inside the phone is broken
Take your phone to a Apple store and let them see if I'm correct
This is a common issue found only on 4S, Apple gave me a new 4S because of this

  • I got a new computer and im trying to move my music from my old one to my new one HELP PLEASE

Okay I tried to use my usb and it was good and I put the music on there and
then I plugged it in my new computer and I dragged it from the usb to iTunes
and then it was playing and fine THEN I un plug the usb and I click on a song
and it says It cant find the file....

Reconnect the USB drive and organize the library from within iTunes. To prevent this happening again, either drag the library to the internal drive or set iTunes to automatically copy the files to the iTunes Media folder.

  • I have purchased a new laptop and want to move my itunes music and maintain my playlists from the old desktop to the new laptop.

An additional complication is that on the old desktop I have music in 2 locations, both on C: drive and F: drive that I would like to combine all to one location now and still maintain my playlists.
I may need to do this first on the old desktop before moving to new laptop.  Either way is ok.
Does anyone provide documentation on how to do this is highly appreciated?
    Thanks, Kathy

I've already figured out how to keep the playlists....but now how to get F: to C: and STILL maintain the playlists?
    Thanks

This is a fairly in-depth tutorial on moving from one computer to another.(I recommend Option 1)

Also, there's no need to find the original disk for installation.  Just download the latest update of your purchased version from here: http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/ and user your original serial number.
