You need to use the Deauthorize All function. While this won't delete any of the files, you should still back them up first, as other things might.

Do I need to deauthorize a computer if I have wiped the hard drive clean before I sell it?
I am going to sell my computer. I forgot to deauthorize it in itunes. I have already wiped my hard drive clean. Do I need to still deauthorize this computer and how can it be done?
Once the drive has been wiped, the only way to deauthorize is to Deauthorize All from any computer with iTunes installed.
If the intent was to deauthorize the comptuer, that needed to be done prior to wiping the computer. -

Yes. Yu have to just ensure that the iPod is signed into the iTunes account(s) that purchased the apps and other stuff and you have iTunes et up to sync the stuff to the iPod. You will loose however, any app data you have.

How do I deauthorize ONE computer? All I see in account information is the option to deauthorize ALL computers. I do not want to do this. I authorized an iPad at my previous employer (school for Autism) and want to leave that one authorized so the students will still have access to the apps and music. I am in a similar situation. Hoping there has been an update to fix this problem by now.... I do NOT want to deauthorize all 5 computers, AT ALL. I only want to deauthorize 1 computer I do not have anymore! Because there is no way I'd ever want to deal with re authorizing the other 4, when I only need to deauthorize ONE.

How can i deauthorize a computer that once was authorized then I had to reinstall (windows 7) like 3 times and reload itunes reach time to get this authorization crap. I only have 3 computers actually authorized. This one is the 4th. This is ridicules.
If you've got 5 computers authorised for the account in question, and you need to free up authorizations, I'd do a "Deauthorize All" from one of the computers you have access to, and then reauthorize the computers you have access to.

Actually you can do it by yourself.
In iTunes, go to the iTunes Store > Sign in > click on your account > put your password > view account > in the Apple ID Summary section choose "Deauthorize all"
Now you can put your contents on 5 computers !

If you did not deauthorize before selling, you have to deauthorize all from your actual computer:

You can only deauthorise individual computers directly on them. Otherwise if you've reached the 5 computer limit, then you should be able to log into your iTunes account and 'deauthorise all' (which you can only do once every 12 months) and you can then (re-)authorise up to 5 computers : authorising and deauthorising.

I have authorized my itunes acount on 5 different computers, but of the 5 i can only access one. I just got a new computer and want to keep my itunes account on my old one and put it on my new one but cant because of the 5 computer limite. The problem is that the other 4 computers that i had authorized before are no longer functional, so how do i deauthorize them if i can even turn them on?
Log into your iTunes Store account -> Store menu / View Account. The Deauthorize All button will be there.
