Hello again and sorry to bother you. I was hoping you could help me with iTunes 10.5. This update has been a pain. When I first installed it, my entire library was gone. Luckily, I saved the "iTunes Library" file before updating and copied it in place and my library appeared. But now the problem I'm having is that the iTunes can't find any of the "original" files, even though my iTunes Media file location has not changed (it's on an external network drive". When I click on the "Do you want to find the original file" I can find it in the appropriate folder. I checked the "Preferences" and under "Advanced" I re-mapped it to the appropriate location and already had the 2 boxes for iTunes organizing files checked. Then went to "File" and "Organize Library" and clicked the first check box and then got the "Copying Files" bar. When this was completed, I thought it would be able to find the original files. But I'm still getting the same error message about not being able to find the "original" files. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks again for your help.

You should have a series or drop-down menus at the top of your Mac's screen, one of which should be 'Store' :
Do they not show ? If not, then have you got iTunes in full-screen mode - if you have the control-command-F should toggle between full screen and normal. -

In settings>iCloud>finder. Is ON
I appear to not be able to practice a " find " from my own iPad.
I need someone else's iPad or iPhone that also has fine my iPad/iPhone ?
But then I would only get the same circle that I have now....please install finder etc turn it on etc on their device.
I do not see from any literature or advice how I actually locate a lost or misplaced device.

Gene1. It is never a good idea to include personal info like your email address or Apple ID in a post on an open forum.
2. The email you received DOES NOT say your Apple ID cannot be used to unlock this iPad. The email informs you that your Apple ID was used to unlock an iPad. Fortunately the iPad is yours. The message confirms that. If your Apple ID was used to unlock an iPad that was not yours your would then know to change your password. Since the iPad is yours you do not need to change your password.

You use the Deauthorize All function and then reauthorize computers as needed. It isn't possible to individually deauthorize a broken computer.

I have bought the Light room 5 disk last December but I mistakenly misplaced the case that had the serial number on it. I need that number to download it otherwise, the disk is no use. Is there any way I can get someone where else?

You can try an alternative.
This is the quickest thing that came to mind, but if you want to wipe it with no care of the data on the device at all:
Place device in recovery mode (turn off device > hold home button + plug in to iTunes (WHILE HOLDING BUTTON)).
iTunes will give you an error saying it detected a device in recovery mode, you need to restore to use device. Restoring device is a factory reset. AKA a wipe of the device

I just verified my Apple user ID and password but certain updates won't download (gives me the signal that I'm incorrect). I keep changing it, verifying but not all applications let me proceed. So I can't download itunes software updates or update my iphone even though I have just verified my info. I know others that have this problem but can't get support to resolve it.

I need to restore my iphone but itunes can't connect to it because of my password which I can't input becasue it has no service and needs to be restored. what can I do to restore it? Is there a way to input the password?
You will need to put the iPhone into Recovery Mode to be able to restore it in iTunes.
To put your iPod/iPhone into recovery mode:
1. Make sure the iPod/iPhone is connected to a computer with iTunes installed on it.
2. Hold down the sleep/wake button(top button) and the home button at the same time until the iPod/iPhone screen goes black then shows the apple logo( usually 10-15 seconds).
3. Once the apple logo appears on the screen, let go of the sleep/wake button and keep holding the home button.
4. The ipod/iphone screen should show an itunes logo and usb cable if you were successful. A dialog box will appear in iTunes that states an iPod/iPhone in recovery mode has been detected if you are successful.
5. Click ok, then click the Restore button
After that you should be up and running in no time!

The device is locked to Verizon wireless not a Russian cell provider.
You can use Verizon here in the states. Get a Verizon Sim.
In out of the country use, pop in that Sim and it should work. However Verizon does not unlock for use in the USA.
And you must be a Verizon customer to get it unlocked to use in other countries. Apple claims it will work in other countries.

If a phone is sold from one friend to another and wants to use it on a different carrier the friend can contact the carrier it was sold by to request it unlocked. I know AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint will give you the steps to unlock it as long as the original contract it was bought under has been completed. eBay/Craigslist is really not the best place to try to get "unlocked phones" from, if it turns out the phone isn't unlocked then I'm really sorry you got stuck with that one and as stevejobsfan said above I would report them immediately and see if you can recover your money. I sell phones for a living and this happens a lot
