HT1420 I've used this computer several times to purchase music and now they are asking me to register it again and provide answers to my security questions which I did and they say they are invalid when I know they aren't - all I want to do is download so
Every time I try to purchase any music now it asks for security questions to verify my identity and when i put in the two answers it says one or more answers are incorrect which is NOT true -

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

My account keeps asking for 2 security question answers saying this is the first time I used this computer not true used this computer many times. Then when I put ansers in says incorrect answers. What's up with this?
There have a few other posts from people saying that they are being asked their questions despite it not being the first purchase on the computer or device.
If you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then go to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you should see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.
If you don't have a rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer 2 of your questions) then you won't get the reset option - you will need to contact iTunes Support or Apple to get them reset.
e.g. you can try contacting iTunes Support :http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Account Management , and then 'Forgotten Apple ID security questions'
or try ringing Apple in your country and ask to talk to the Accounts Security Team :http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
When they've been reset (and if you don't already have a rescue email address) you can then use the steps half-way down this page to add a rescue email address for potential future use : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312 . It's mindboggling that one must have two email accounts (original and rescue) just in case we don't have a record of the passwords or we use the right ones and Apple program is having a problem.
Our son set up his account and answered a simple security question of "Where did your parents meet?" It isn't a multiple answer question and Apple will no longer accept the correct answer. He had the answer to the other two questions and again, the Apple program has erred and has now locked him out.
A call to Apple was completely unsuccessful with correcting the situation.
We, 1) know the answers to the questions, 2) we have all the proof of purchases that for some reason Apple cannot link to our account which to me is just unbelievable, and 3) the original email used for the whole itune set up has never changed, is still valid and again not proof of who we are. This all leads me to believe that they can fix the problem but that they choose not too.
We can log into the account but can't get past the security questions even with the correct answers.
How can their purchase orders not be linked to the funds (and associated email) they are accessing to pay for the purchase?
Why is it that matching the payment account to the email is not a valid proof of who we are?
None of this makes any sense at all.We are fellow users here on these forums.

How do I authorize a new computer to play my purchased music on iTunes
I recently got a new computer. My previous computer has iTunes but is no longer able to access the internet. I was able to get my music library from my original computer to the new one. When I try to play music, I get a window asking me to authorize the new computer. I fill in the account and password and press the authorize button. It accepts the password then asks me to download iTunes 6.0. I downloaded and installed iTunes 6 but every time I try to play any of my music, it sends me to the music library to download iTunes 6 again.
How do I authorize this computer to play my purchased music ?
new computer is an HP m7590n running Windows XP Media Center 2005.There were two icons. One was version 4 the other was version 6. When I used Version 6, it worked.

They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

Yes. you should keep your media in iTunes, and indeed you should also keep a backup of your library as well. if you have the device set up for manual management then the content would remain on it when deleted from the library, but you would have no way to restore the device if there was a problem.
