HT1420 if I deauthorize all devices will it reauthorize my iphone?

I deauthorized all accounts using my new MacBook Pro because I had reached my limit of 5, and couldn't authorizer my MacBook. Did this just deauthorize my iphone 4 as well? If so, How do I authorize my iphone again?

Yes, all your devices are no longer authorized.

You won't have any problem, you'll be able to re-authorise up to 5 of them straight away

  • HT1420 If I deauthorize all computers, can I reauthorize some of them again?

I have 5 authorized computers--itunes won't let me see what computers are authorized--I know at least one of them I no longer have--the only option is to deauthorize all--wondering if I can re-authorize ones that I deauthorize.

    Yes, you can re-authorize computers you've de-authorized.
    Authorization and Deauthorization
See iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization for Macs.
See How to Authorize or Deauthorize iTunes | PCWorld for Windows.
In iTunes you use the Authorize This Computer or De-authorize This Computer option under the Store menu in iTunes' menubar. For Windows use the ALT-S keys to access it.
More On De-authorizing Computers (contributed by user John Galt)
You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
      1. Open iTunes on a computer
      2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
      3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
      4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
      5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.

  • HT1420 once i deauthorize all computers will i be a to re- authorize some of those same computers

How can I de-authorize computers I no longer own

As per your posts subject, you use iTunes to deauthorise all your currently authorised computers, you can do this once a year. Yes, you can then reauthorise those individual computers you actually still have.
So if you had for example lost one computer out of five, you would deauthorise all of them and then reauthorise the remaining four.

  • If I deauthorize all computers will I lose my money credited?

I have recently purchased Iphones for myself and sons.  I want to have a separate account from my school account.  If I deauthorize all computers will I lose the itunes card credit that my son has placed on the account?

Do not deauthorize anything, just make your own account for your iphone.

    No.

    Thank you for your response.
I had rebooted the router (several times, actually), to no avail.
I do not know the answer to whether MAC filtering is enabled on the router.  Have tried to find info about that, but unsuccessfully.  Router is an Arris TG852G, supplied by Comcast.  I would be surprised if MAC filtering were the issue, since in addition to the computer, we have successfully connected several other devices to the wifi, namely an iPad, a Android phone and a Kindle Fire - all able to access internet pages through the wifi, and all without a need to add the device to a MAC address whitelist.  To add to the mystery, the Comcast tech was able to connect his iPhone 4 to my network and access web pages.  He was unable to connect my iPhone, however, after trying for some time.
I seem to recall reading somewhere that an iPhone cannot connect to a wireless "n" router, only "b" or "g".  The Arris router is described as a n/g/b compliant router, and as noted the Comcast tech was able to connect his iPhone, so don't know why that would be the issue here.
By the way, my iPhone does connect wirelessly to my network at home.  This difficulty is at a second home.
Any other thoughts would be appreciated.

  • HT1420 When i deauthorize all 5 computers and authorize a new cpu will i get all my purchased songs back?

When I deauthorize all 5 cpu and authorize a new cpu will I be able to retrieve all my songs I  purchased?

Authorization does not affect what you have purchased. It will still be there.

  • HT1420 I just realized that I never deauthorized my songs from my old computers. With the "deauthorize all" option, will I lose my songs, or will I just need to sign into itunes the first time I play each song to authorize to my current pc?

Also, is there a way to manage which computers are authorized if I dont have them anymore (select which computers to deauthorize instead of all of the)

    You lose nothing.
Deauthorize all, then authorize the active computers.

  • HT1420 If I deauthorize a computer will it still retain the existing purchases?

I have used up my five devices and one of them is my young son's on an ipad mini.   He is using my account to make purchases of his own which is fine, but I would like to get his off my system so I can add a new device. My main question is that  I wonder if his apps will be retained if I deauthorize his device????   I also wonder if I set him up with a totally new account (a good idea) if he will lose all the things he has on his ipad.  I didn't know what I was getting into when I thought he could use my account and share my downloads.   I am getting all his stuff in my devices which is painful!!!!

    1. Yes, it will.
    2. Changing the signed Apple ID won't delete previously downloaded content, but it may prevent in-app purchases from being bought, and the new Apple ID won't be accepted when updating applications.

  • If I deauthorize all  computers, will I lose my library?

will I lose my library if I deauthorize all computers?

No. De-authorizing a computer simply means it is no longer recognized at iTunes until it is reauthorized. It has not effect on your iTunes library.

  • HT1420 if I deauthorize all of my computers can I then add back on the ones I want to without losing any of my music

If I deauthorize all of my computers can I re-authorize all of the computers I want without losing music, etc, I've downloaded

    Yes.
Deauthorizing all computers will simply require all computers to log into the iTunes store with this account before making a purchase.
It will not delete anything on any computer nor will it prevent anything from playing on any computer.

  • HT1420 If I deauthorize all computers can I then authorize just the one I vafe left ?

Only have one computer but never deauthorized old ones so account says 4 of 5 authorizations are in use. If I use the deauthorize all can i then re-authorize the one I have now ?

    Yes.

  • HT1420 if i deauthorize all computers, how quickly can i re-authorize?

due to getting new computers and crashes, I need to deauthorize all computers. after that, can i authorize the correct computers right away?
