  • HT5312 My security questions are not what I submitted. Somehow they have changed themselves and I can't buy anything. Please help!

    How can I change this? This isn't the first time this has happened and I have never showed anyone my password.

    A login password for the computer is not the password used for your Apple ID. To change a forgotten or lost password:
    Forgot Your Account Password
    For Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks
        Boot to the Recovery HD:
    Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
         When the menubar appears select Terminal from the Utilities menu.
         Enter resetpassword at the prompt and press RETURN. Follow
         instructions in the dialog window that will appear.

  • My security questions are not the ones I selected

    I need to purchase something but can not because my security questions are not what i selected when i first created my account .. What do i do??

    Reset Security Questions
    Frequently asked questions about Apple ID
    Manage My Apple ID
    Or you can email iTunes Support at iTunes Store Support.
    If all else fails:
      1. Go to: Apple Express Lane;
      2. Under Product Categories choose iTunes;
      3. Then choose iTunes Store;
      4. Then choose Account Management;
      5. Now choose iTunes Store Security and answer the bullet questions, then click
          Continue;
      6. Sign in with your Apple ID and press Continue;
      7. Under Contact Options fill out the information and advise iTunes that you would
          like your security/challenge questions reset;
      8. Click Send/Continue.
    You should get a response within 24 hours by email.
    In the event you are unsuccessful then contact AppleCare - Contacting Apple for support and service.
    Another user had success doing the following:
    I got some help from an apple assistant on the phone. It is kind of round about way to get in.
    Here is what he said to do and it is working for me...
      a. on the device that is asking you for the security questions go to "settings", > "store" >
          tap the Apple ID and choose view"Apple ID" and sign in.
      b. Tap on payment information and add a credit/debit card of your preference then select
          "done", in the upper right corner
      c. sign out and back into iTunes on the device by going to "settings"> "store" > tap the
          Apple ID and choose "sign-out" > Tap "sign -in" > "use existing Apple ID" and you
          should be asked to verify your security code for the credit /debit card and NOT the
          security questions.
      d. At this time you can remove the card by going back in to edit the payment info and
          selecting "none" as the card type then saving the changes by selecting "done". You
          should now be able to use your iTunes store credit without answering the security
          questions.
    It's working for me ...I just have to put in my 3 digit security pin from the credit card I am using.
    Good Luck friends!

  • HT1689 me and my husband both have iphones 4 on the same itunes account but he cannot purchase anything cuz it keeps sayin its a new device and he needs to answer security questions.the questions are not what we set up the acct with. help!

    My husband and I both have i phone 4 on the same itune acct but his phone is saying its a new device and will not let him buy anything off of our acct without answering security questions.  these questions are not the ones we set up the acct with. my iphone device is not having this problem. Help!

    I don't know if I'm asking this all in a way that can be understood? Thanks ED3K, however that part I do understand (in the link you provided!)
    What I need to know is "how" I can separate or rather create another Apple ID for my son-who is currently using "my Apple ID?" If there is a way to let him keep "all" his info on his phone (eg-contacts, music, app's, etc.) without doing a "reset?') Somehow I need to go into his phone's setting-create a new Apple ID and possibly a new password so he can still use our combined iCloud & Itunes account?
    Also then letting me take back my Apple ID & password, but again allowing us (my son and I) to use the same iCloud & Itunes account? Does that make more sense??? I'm sincerely trying to get this cleared up once and for all----just need guidance from someone who has a true understanding of the whole Apple iCloud/Itunes system!
    Thanks again for "anyone" that can help me!!!

  • HT5624 I need to reset my Apple ID password, but it says that my security questions are not correct and I no longer have access to the email it sends the correct information to. Please help!

    I need to reset my Apple ID password, but it says that my security questions were not answered correctly.  The email address associated with the questions to reset the answers is no longer available to me. It is my old college email.  Does anyone know how to change this email? The unavailable email is not in my list of emails approved in my Apple ID settings.

    You cannot and need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include clicking here and picking a method for your country, phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, and filling out and submitting this form.

    How to reset security questions if you forget the original answers

    The Apple Support Communities are an international user to user technical support forum. As a man from Mexico, Spanish is my native tongue. I do not speak English very well, however, I do write in English with the aid of the Mac OS X spelling and grammar checks. I also live in a culture perhaps very very different from your own. When offering advice in the ASC, my comments are not meant to be anything more than helpful and certainly not to be taken as insults.

    You won't be able to change your rescue email address until you can answer your questions, you will need to contact iTunes Support / Apple in your country to get the questions reset.

  • Security questions are not mine

    aMy daughter is trying to purchase some music on our new Dell laptop.  We downloaded iTunes and we have had the account for over a year now.  It is asking her to verify 2 security questions.  I would have never in 100 years have picked those 2 questions.  Where did they come from and what can we do?  She can't even get the music she wants.  Thanks so much

    I am having the same problem.  I know I have never answered any security questions in the past.  They came out of nowhere when I got another Apple device.  I called tech support and they were not helpful at all.  I can still download paid apps to iTunes on my computer and transfer them, but I cannot download apps directly to my device.
    By the way, I think this came about because of the Wired tech writer that was hacked when someone hijacked his apple account, among other things, by simply calling up Apple and having the password reset.
    Anyway, if you find a way to resolve the security questions issue, I would love to hear the answer.

  • For some reason my answers to my security questions are not correct and I can't make any purchases. HELP!

    I keep getting locked out of my account because my security answers are incorrect. I apparently do not remember the correct answers. HELP! I cannot make any purchases because of this. I cannot reset my password either because I don't know my answers to the security questions. I also do not have a rescue email...

    Click here, phone Apple, and ask for the Account Security team.

    I am prompted to enter three security questions upon which I am not allowed to proceed because my year of birth is wrong. Yet nowhere in the system is there a place to write in or correct year of birth. How do I fix this?
