HT1420 Trying to authorize new laptop

I can't remember the answer to one of my security questions. I am trying to get into my account to purchase and authorize my new laptop, but tried too many incorrect answers. Now I'm locked out.
What to do from here?

  • Trying to authorise new laptop

I am trying to authorise my new laptop so i can transfer books to my nook the message say I can only authorise once which is my old one help

There's a couple of ways to get through to the authorisation controls in the 11.0.x versions.
The control is still in the Store menu, but first (if you're using iTunes versions 11.0.x) you might need to bring up the menu bar to see the Store menu.
If you're using 11.0.x, click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Then you'll find the control in the Store menu:
Alternatively, if you don't want to bring up the menu bar, it's still possible to get into the authorise controls via nested menus accessible from the wee boxy icon. Here's a screenshot of where to find them:

  • Fried my hard drive.  Trying to authorize new computer (store authorize computer).  I get a box that says the account has already been created.

Fried hard drive and replaced computer.  Trying to authorize my new computer to download music on the account I created with old computer.  I get a box that says the account hs already been created.  I know that.  I created it.  Has anyone else out there run into this before?

Unless the process has changed, you won't be able to do that (I've been there, done that...). You can either opt to de-authorize all (doesn't matter if it's only one) which you're allowed to do once a year, or, if you don't want to "waste" that option, contact iTunes support.

  • HT1420 Trying to authorize my new mac with iTunes....

I think I might have a newer version of itunes than that of the version used in apple's directions on how to authorize a computer. I do not have a store menu (or a menu bar at all along the top of my itunes.)
How do I authorize my computer?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
The menu bar is at the top of the screen on a Mac.

  • I'm trying to authorize my laptop and when i do it says its authorized then i try to download my music from my iPod it says it's not authorized.

I have tried with my account and my sisters and it still won't authorize. A thing will pop up and saying its authorized but then another thing will pop up saying its not authorized. I've done this same thing over and over again getting the same results.

Just doublechecking. In the course of your troubleshooting to date, have you worked through the following document?

  • HT1420 Trying to authorize fresh device after deauthorizing 4 out of 5 others

I have deauthorized 4 out of 5 other old devices and am trying to uthorize the second one but it still says cannot do because 5 are authorized. Why? Does it take time to register the deauthorizations?

Authorization ONLY applies to Computers... Not Devices.

  • Error when trying to authorize new computer to play a song

    Hello,
i just transferred all my songs from one computer to the next, as well as my husbands music. everytime we try to play a song that is associated with his apple id, i get the error "We could not complete your itunes store request. An unknown error ocurred (-50). There was an error in the itunes stores. Please try again later"
    Any ideas?

Not really, other than trying at a really inconvenient time when most people are asleep, such as 4AM USA Pacific when the Apple servers are probably not busy.
edit- tell me, are you able to go to the store and download a free single of the week?

My laptop crashed completely and I need to authorize a new laptop to enable it sync with itunes. I have 5 computers authorized so I am unable to add another one so I need to unauthorize the bad laptop that is no longer working. How do I authorize new Laptop?

You can only deauthorize everything to do that. Click on Account under Quick Links. You can deauthorize all five there. But you can only do this once a year.

  • HT1206 I de authorized my iphone and old laptop and now my new laptop will not authorize???

I de autthorized my old iphone and old laptop but now cannot authorize new laptop???? what gives?

iPhones aren't authorised or deauthorised, only computers are. What happens when you try to authorise your account on your laptop's iTunes via the Store > Authorise This Computer menu option ?

  • HT1420 I'm trying to authorize my new work laptop.  I only have 3 authorized devices, yet it keeps telling me I have 5!

Authorisations only applies to computers, not to devices. Have you had other computers in the past and/or updated the OS on your current computers without deauthorising them ? You can safely 'deauthorise all' computers as described on the page that you posted from, it doesn't remove any content from them, it just means that you won't be able to use your iTunes downloads on them until you reauthorise them (which you should be able to do immediately).

  • HT1420 How can you deauthorise devices from an iPad? I no longer have the computer which is associated with my account and I'm trying to add my new laptop but all i have is iPod iPad and iPhone that are associated with that account.

I had an old apple ID and now I have a new one. I made many purchases in my old ID and I'm trying to transfer that information to my iPad and iPhone however, it won't let me connect my new laptop so I can make those changes. It says I have 5 devices but I don't have 2 of those old devices. The only ones i have are my iphone ipad and ipod but it looks like i can deauthorize all devices on those.
    What do i do?!?!?!?!?

Deauthorize all then authorize the active computers.
ipods/ipads/iphones are not authorized at all.  Authorization applies only to computers.
