  • HT1420 I can't see where the "Authorize My Computer" option is in the store menu.

    Greetings everyone,
So, I have a little problem.  I need to authorize my computer to download all my purchases songs from the Icould. However, an article I read on Itunes.com said that all I have to do is go to the Store menu and choose "Authorize My Computer" and then I can easily and seamlessly authorize my computer to download my songs.  However, I do not see an "Authorize My Computer" tab anywhere in the Store Menu area for Itunes!!!  ha! Am I not looking in the right place, or did Itunes just make it more complicated than that?
    Thanks for the help,
    KYle

  • HT1420 I need to authorize a computer but can't find the option in the itunes menu???

New computer, new itunes, but can't find the link to authorize the new computer. What?

You should have a series or drop-down menus at the top of your Mac's screen, one of which should be 'Store' :
Do they not show ? If not, then have you got iTunes in full-screen mode - if you have the control-command-F should toggle between full screen and normal.

  • HT1420 How do I authorize my computer? Can't find the link in iTunes store homepage.

I downloaded iTunes to my laptop running Windows 8 and bought a TV show episode but everytime I try to download it I get a message saying I need to authorize this computer. When I search for help in doing this iTune's site says look for the link to authroize this computer in the iTunes store homepage. But I can't find it.

Press the Alt and S keys and choose Authorize this Computer, or click here, follow the instructions, click on Store in the menu bar, and choose Authorize this Computer.

  • HT1420 Where is Authorize This Computer?  It's not on my Store menu.

I just loaded iTunes on a new computer running Win 8.  I can't find the menu item to authorize this computer.

Sorry, I found the answer in another thread.  The basic instruction given by iTunes still doesn't seem correct, but Alt-S gave me the correct menu.

  • HT1420 Cannot find where to authorize my computer.  They say it should be on store menu - cannot find that

Cannot play my music on this computer - cannot authorize it as per instructions on support

The Authorize instructions on the support and community are lacking a key step to find the drop down selection to authorize. After spending nearly an hour going back and forth with the support page and community posts, I finally found it. You MUST BE LOGGED IN TO iTunes FIRST, not just the public STORE landing page. If in doubt, try to get to a place where you want to play a song then look at the top for a dropdown arrow and proceed slowly to find the AUTHORIZE selection. Once there, it will accept your choice and confirm it (as long as you have not previously maxxed out your allotment for 5 devices).
I wish the Apple support instructions would provide this simple clarification to save many people from a lot of frustration.

Thank you for your help.  Another questions.  For a small business firm of 10 computers what would you suggest the best server.  We now are all pc's but eventually I want to upgrade to Apple.  I currently have the Small Business Server.
Sorry to say that Apple isn't the best choice in that department as they are primarily a consumer products company, they don't cater to business needs with their offerings.
Phill Scheiler actually said they are interested in the 50% share of the consumer market.
Apple has discontinued their X-Server and now OS X server is really just a hobbyist pursuit, not a serious business solution. The Mac Pro hasn't been updated in ages.
Mac's can be used on Windows, Unix and Linux servers, but on that side of things it's best to use the services of a local server technician. Linux costs nothing for the licenses and is very secure and highly configurable.
You also can go Red Hat Linux which is a commercial  version of Linux which requires licenses, but you get the better security and reliability plus business support.
All I can suggest is evaluate your local offerings from many of those type local server business services in you area and go from there. You'll likely be a mixed shop for quite some time or perhaps forever as some won't give up Windows like some won't give up their Mac's.
Also Mac's are not very cost effective anymore, Apple changes the operating system annually which require new software/paid upgrades, Windows 7 will last another decade and offer desktop models that parts can be exchangesd or replaced in house, unlike Mac's which one has to bring it in and AppleCare expires in three years.
So buisnesss and profit speaking Windows is pretty good, but if your like Google who has a big bank account then replacing Mac's every couple of years is nothing.

  • Where can i fond the authorize my computer option in itunes?

Can someone explain where to find the authorize my computer option in itunes please?

Under the Store menu in iTunes. If you have iTunes 11, which for some unfathomable reason hides the menus by default, press Control-B and you'll then see the menus.
    Regards.

  • HT1420 Where is the "Authorize this computer" option located??!!!!!

I just installed Itunes on my laptop, but before I can download my past purchases it says I must authorize this computer. I click "ok" but it doesn't take me where I need to go to authorize it. I've read other member questions with the same problem online, and it says to go to the Itunes "store menu" then "authorize this computer" but I don't have that at the top of my screen! I've looked and looked & this is driving me CRAZY!!!!!  Currently I have 2 other authorized computers (desktops) that are currently disconnected at this time. I'm only using the laptop. LISTEN APPLE PEOPLE, this should NOT be this difficult. Please provide step by step instructions for stuff like this (screen shots would help as well). The only screen shot I saw was listed in a Yahoo forum & the Itunes store bar at the top didn't look like mine. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

See How to Authorize or Deauthorize iTunes | PCWorld for Windows.
In iTunes you use the Authorize This Computer or De-authorize This Computer option under the Store menu in iTunes' menubar. For Windows use the ALT-S keys to access it.
More On De-authorizing Computers (contributed by user John Galt)
You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
      1. Open iTunes on a computer
      2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
      3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
      4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
      5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.

  • HT1420 I tried to authorize my new computer and can't find the link anywhere?

I tried to authorize my new computer and can't find the link anywhere? Also iTunes only recovered the songs I purchased from the iStore, what about the rest?

If the menu bar is not visible, hit CTRL+B then Store > Autorize this computer
iTunes Store keeps a purchase history for your Apple ID and allows ypou to redownload purchases. Any other media add to iTunes from outside the store (CDs, etc..) are not uploaded to iTunes unless you have purchased iTunes Match. Those items you will need to add from your backups.
