HT1420 Where is the "authorize this computer" option in the iTunes store?

I'm going in circles since iTunes suggests "go to iTunes Store and select authorize this computer but no such link exists in iTunes Store

In iTunes you use the Authorize This Computer or De-authorize This Computer option under the Store menu in iTunes' menubar. For Windows use the ALT-S keys to access it.

You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
  1. Open iTunes on a computer
  2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
  3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
  4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
  5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.

  • HT1420 Where is the "Authorize this computer" option located??!!!!!

I just installed Itunes on my laptop, but before I can download my past purchases it says I must authorize this computer. I click "ok" but it doesn't take me where I need to go to authorize it. I've read other member questions with the same problem online, and it says to go to the Itunes "store menu" then "authorize this computer" but I don't have that at the top of my screen! I've looked and looked & this is driving me CRAZY!!!!!  Currently I have 2 other authorized computers (desktops) that are currently disconnected at this time. I'm only using the laptop. LISTEN APPLE PEOPLE, this should NOT be this difficult. Please provide step by step instructions for stuff like this (screen shots would help as well). The only screen shot I saw was listed in a Yahoo forum & the Itunes store bar at the top didn't look like mine. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

  • HT1420 There is no "authorize this computer" button from the itunes store.

I'm trying to authorize a new computer from the itunes store.  The tutorial says to click on the "authorize this computer" button from the itunes store, but I cannot find it!  So frustrating!

It is not in the iTunes Store...
    Open iTunes...
If you're using iTunes 11 click on the box icon in the top-left corner to see the " Show Menu Bar "
and from the Menu Bar select Store...
From the Store menu, choose Authorize This Computer.
(In earlier versions of iTunes, access this option from the Advanced menu).
When prompted, enter your Apple ID and password, then click Authorize.

You're looking in the wrong place. You need to look under the Store menu in iTunes. If you have iTunes 11 on a Windows system which has the menus hidden by default for some unexplainable reason, press Control-B.

PLEASE READ ALL EMAIL. ANYONE THAT CAN HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. As you read through the emails, you will see that "C" the customer service person responds the same way. All the emails are from the same thread.  I would reply to his email, he would, I guess, copy and paste an answer, and the response is the same. He never pays attention to the previous emails. Why do you continuously state the same info..(SEE RED HIGHLIGHTS BELOW).I NEED HELP ASAP TO GET THIS TAKEN CARE OF...Do you have any other info EXCEPT for what is listed below??????

    Dear
Thank you for replying. It's C from iTunes Customer Support.
Addressing your concern is really important for me. I will do my best to answer your question.
S, if your computer is not currently authorized to play your account's purchases, when you try to play an iTunes Store purchase, the authorization dialog will appear. You will see the name of the account that purchased the item. If you've changed your account name, replace the old account name with the new name, then enter your password and click Authorize. This authorizes your computer to play the account's purchases.
If you are repeatedly asked to authorize your computer to play your purchases, you may find this article helpful:

If you still cannot authorize your computer, please include a screen shot of any error received, as well as any additional details about the error itself.
Thank you for contacting the iTunes Store.

I do not get an error, I do not even get the authorization dialog. I have sent 2 screen shots, they are attached.
When I try to play an iTunes store purchase, a bubble pops up and states that this computer is not authorized. It does not pop up account name or password. I have also completed everything stated in the http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1389  link.
    This is very frustrating.

    Details:
I am trying to authorize my new computer. I do not see AUTHORIZE MY COMPUTER anywhere. I see COMPUTER AUTHORIZATIONS, but not an option to authorize.

There's a couple of ways to get through to the authorisation controls in the 11.0.x versions.
The control is still in the Store menu, but first (if you're using iTunes versions 11.0.x) you might need to bring up the menu bar to see the Store menu.
If you're using 11.0.x, click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Then you'll find the control in the Store menu:
Alternatively, if you don't want to bring up the menu bar, it's still possible to get into the authorise controls via nested menus accessible from the wee boxy icon. Here's a screenshot of where to find them:

  • HT1420 There is no "Authorize this computer" option that i can choose from the store menu, and there is no "Advanced" option. Can anyone please help me?

  • HT1420 I can't find the "authorize this computer" button in updated itunes. How can I do it?

I cannot find the place to authorize my computer for iTunes. The link given by Apple's support team is not helpful--the updated iTunes doesn't show the same screen or information as I had in an older version of iTunes. I would really like some help because Apple's support team isn't giving me any more new information than I already had in the first place. All they gave me was a link to a page on their website about authorization/de-authorization that I've visited before, to no avail.

If you are on a Mac then it should be in the same place as on previous version e.g. on my Mac on iTunes 11
If you are on a PC then Alt-S should open the Store drop-down menu at the top of it

  • Where us the "Authorize this computer" choice on the Store menu

I read all the instructions that I could find and cannot find it on my iTunes application
It is realy frustrating since I just installed the new iPhone SW version as prompted by the App Store and all my previously dawnloaded Apps stopped working after the rebooting.  Now I have to reinstall all of them fromm the phone itself, rather than by sinchronizing them with the computer.
    I have iTunes 10.6.1.7

It's in the Store menu at the very top of the iTunes application window.
