  • HT1420 Where is the store menu in iTunes.  I just got a new computer.  I disconnected the old computer and want to authorize the new one.  There is no file menu or store menu anywhere I can see.

Where is the store menu in iTunes?  I updated my computer and want to authorize it.  I deauthorized the old computer (and probably my desktop at a different location, and want to authorize the new one.  The help says that I need to clickon the store menu in iTunes.  I do not see any store menu.  I can access songs that I purchased a while back, but cannot download any new purchases.  If I cannot get this worked out, how do I recoup my money for the new songs?  Also, can I transfer the songs I purchased to another service?  Brad

It's in the same spot on a Windows machine as well

If you are on a PC then press Alt-S and it should open at the top of iTunes - on a Mac you it should be visible (it should get something similar on a PC when you've pressed alt-S) e.g.

In iTunes you use the Authorize This Computer or De-authorize This Computer option under the Store menu in iTunes' menubar. For Windows use the ALT-S keys to access it. Or turn on Windows 7 and 8 iTunes menus: iTunes- Turning on iTunes menus in Windows 8 and 7.

You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
      1. Open iTunes on a computer
      2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
      3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
      4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
      5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.

    Hi,
I have pasted a copy of a Windows iTunes screen below (it's a screenshot of a Windows iTunes on a web page on my Mac, so ignore the part that is not purple-ish)  I know it is kind of hard to see, but if you look between the player symbols and the first album cover, you will see the "list" I am referring to:  File, Edit, View, Store, Control, Help:
If you are not seeing a screen similar to this, then what version of iTunes are you running?
    Cheers,

The control is still in the Store menu, but first you might need to bring up the menu bar to see the Store menu.
Click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Then you'll find the control in the Store menu:
