HT1420 Why is it telling me I need to authorize my computer when this is the only computer I have authorized? It said I've authorized over 5. What should I do?

I am using the same computer that I have had for over 5 years. I purchased music on this computer. This is the only computer I use. Then I got a new ipod because my old ipod won't play anymore podcast and now itunes is saying that I can't authorize my computer to play any of my music I purchased because I have authorized too many computers. What should I do? I can't deactivate any computers that I don't know about.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can't (only) de-authorise computers you no longer have access to.
Your only option is to de-authorise all your computers and then re-authorise those you wish to be authorised. You can do this by logging into your account settings in iTunes on your computer (Store > View My ID) and selecting the option to de-authorise all.
Please note however, you are only permitted to do this once in each 12 month period, therefore you would be better de-authorising your computers before you lose access to them. you can do this from the 'Store' menu in iTunes.

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:

Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".

I had never heard of someone using the iPhone Number as the ID in the iMessages account in the Mac version.
i.e without adding an Apple ID
iMessages does allow iPhone numbers and mine lists mine.
I would try this.
Sign Out of the iMessages account and Quit Messages
On the iPhone in Settings > Messages remove the Apple ID
Set the iPhone to Airplane mode for a few minutes (to break with the Server)
On starting the phone up again check the iPhone Number is ticked for iMessages.
If it is add the Apple ID
On the Mac restart Messages
Add the Apple ID
At this point you should get a pop up or two saying the iPhone is using the Number and Apple ID.
Accept these and they get added to the Receive At list and Send From drop down.

Thank you sberman, yes the first thing I did was check my iPod. Instant synching works great between the iPad and iPod, so it was deleted there as well. On both devices I have my Notes account to the same account.
I ashamedly have not synched to iTunes for ages. After I calmed down I realized that most of the info on that deleted Note I had copied and pasted from an excel file in November. I'm in the process of doing that again, and am only out the recent info.

HT1848 when i backup my iPad to my computer, it tells me i need 2 authorize my computer; when i do it tells me it's already authorized, and the process repeats. i try to proceed and again it says i need to authorize the computer...it just repeats itself.

I have been trying to work through this problem by myself and have so far downloaded the most current version of iTunes. Frome there when it tells me I have to authorize this computer, I had to not put in the iPad information, I had to authorize with my current iTunes information, and any iPad or iPod, iPhone information. I have several people in the family that have different accounts, so I had to authorize each and every individual account because I didnt know which apps or music was purchased under which user. Now my question is WHY do we need to rebalance the asm_data1a MANUALLY because as per above scenario it needs rebalancing. Should not ASM do rebalancing itself?

I believe you are using Normal redundancy in this case. When you are making the disk unavailable to Oracle, Oracle tries to drop the disk from diskgroup i.e why you see status as "forcing". After that Oracle recognizes that this disk is required to provide redundancy. At this time the disk goes in Hung state. so when you start the storage, then you have to issue rebalance manually. I am not sure why the design is like that. But I believe it could be due to the fact that disk rebalance takes place only when you add/drop disk. In this case you are not adding a disk but actually making it available at OS level. This will not trigger a rebalance.

ITunes keeps telling me I need to authorize...

iTunes keeps telling me I need to authorize my new computer and then tells me I already have but won't let me play some of my music as the "you need to authorize" popup, comes right back. What can I do to fix this? One of my friends said that I could hook my iPod back up and it should fix it but I don't want to do that until I'm sure as I don't want it to decide I can't play the music from my iPad either. I can still play the music on my old laptop so I just don't want to jinx things.

You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
1. Open iTunes on a computer
2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.
