HT1423 8gb and two 2 gb memory modules in late 2011 21.5inch imac

Hi is this possible to add one 8gb and two 2 gb memory modules in late 2011 21.5inch imac?

Thanks
Actually I have installed one 8gb module on top of my existing TWO 2 gb factory in built modules. System is working fine though everywhere in the internet it is written that iMac mid 2011 ONLY supports maximum of 4 GB module per slot!!! Then how my system is working? Can I install one more 8gb Module?

nope - no difference than running with 4GB......Apps however, open much faster with 16GB....
you'll also have 0 page outs and 0 swap used...

  • N81 8GB and maps: internal memory lost!!!!

My brand new N81 8GB has 16MB of free internal memory and somewhat 8GB of free external memory (where internal memory in the phone memory [C drive] and external memory is the memory card [E drive]).
The N81 comes preinstalled with the Nokia Maps software, but no maps are pre-loaded.
According to NOKIA, to upload maps on the N81 you need [STEP 1] first to update the Nokia Maps software ON THE PHONE and [STEP 2] then install and run the Nokia Maps Loader from the computer.
The problem that is reported here has nothing to do with [STEP 2] (which works fine and correctly uploads maps on the N81 external memory) but happens already at [STEP 1].
So, starting with an N81 with 16MB of free internal memory, I connect it to the pc in PC SUITE MODE and I install the Nokia Maps software update, and after installation the phone internal memory goes down to 8MB!!!!!!!!!
So, by simply updating the Nokia Maps software (not even the maps) 8MB of internal memory are lost.
I have tried anything to gain back those 8MB, but could not find any solution. I have even tried with X-plore looking into every single hidden and system folder: nothing!!!!!!!!!
The only way was to do a hard reset of the phone and reinstall all software (or a backup, if you have one).
By the way, the Nokia Maps Loader uploads the maps on the phone even if you do not do the Nokia Maps software update.

Same here, but with a non-8GB N81, and it's internal memory is at 1.3MB!

  • Memory upgrade for Late 2011 15" MacBook Pro

Hi I've recently bought MacBook Pro 15" Late 2011 and I would like to install more RAM on it.
The thing is that apple explicitly specifies that valid memory for my MBP is
    PC3-10600 1333MHz
    (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1270?viewlocale=en_US#link3).
Unfortunately on my location neither of computer stores have that particular memory modules.
The closest model that could match (and is available at place where I am) is
    PC3-10666 1333MHz.
Is this memory type suitable for my Mac? Should it work without problems?
And BTW, should this replacement void my warranty if I do it by myself?
    Thanks and kind regards

Today's DDR3-1333 has a peak bandwidth of 10666 MHz, which can be improperly rounded down and called PC3-10600, rounded up to be called PC3-10700 or stated without rounding as PC3-10666 depending on the manufacturer's desires.

  • Intel ssd 510 and encryption MBP 13" Core i7 late 2011

    Hi all,
I have a MBP 13" core i7 late 2011 und bought a new Intel SSD 510. After complete fresh installation of 10.7.2 and other apps I activated FileVault. After that, system freezes quite often, Finder crashes and so on. I did a secure wipe, installed it again and encrypted the drive again, this time with PGP whole disk encryption, same result. System freezes, filesystem corrupt and other **** things happened.
    Any suggestions?

    (1) On my three 10.9 Macs, upgrading did two very obvious things:
     • removed some useful features like the ability to set individual notification audio tones for different chat buddies and collaboration via iChat Theater.  (These features are not supported in OS X 10.9's Messages app that replaced iChat.)  There may be changes  I do not like in other apps, too, but these are two that I noticed.
      - and -
     • slowed my machines down as compared to OS X 10.8, particularly on booting, opening apps, and other CPU/System interactions.  The amount of slowing varied by machine, with my old 13" MBP being nearly unacceptable.  My i7 MBP is not nearly so bad, although the the difference is noticeable, perhaps 10% vs almost double boot time on my old 13".
    (2) To determine if upgrading will be a problem on your system, I suggest that you:
    • make a current Time Machine backup
    • configure  > System Preferences... > Time Machine to "OFF"
    • upgrade Mac OS
    • use your Mac long enough to see if you like the change
    (3) If you want to keep the upgrade, turn Time Machine backups back on and continue using the new OS.
    (4) If you don't like the upgrade, recover your system from your Time Machine backup.

  • Two 1GB memory modules don't work on MS-7173 board

    Hi,
I have an old MS-7173 (RC410M) board, with 1 memory stick of model: Kingston KVR667D2N5/1GB, 1.8v.
I bought another memory stick with the exact model.
I tried them both, but I get a computer restart once windows starts booting.
Each of them works on its own, on either slots - tried all combos.
This proved me that slots and sticks are fine.
Only when placed together they don't work.
I tried switching between them, but it didn't help.
In the BIOS the Timing is set to AUTO.
According to the manual it should support this configuration.
Any clue why this doesn't work?

A couple things could be the problem as to why they do not work together:
Even though they have the same part number, the chips on the sticks may come from different manufacturers and not be compatible.
The memory voltage might need to be raised to 1.85 or 1.9 volts to get them to work together.
Try raising the memory voltage in the bios first and if that does not work, you will probably have to purchase a matched pair of sticks to get them to work together.

  • 1GB Memory Modules in 1GHz 17" Flat Panel iMac?

    Hello There!
On searching this forum I see that there has been some discussion of people going beyond the stated maximum memory of 2x512Mb by using 2x1GB DIMM's from companies like RamJet.
    1. How many people out there have successfully done this?
    2. Any problems mixing a factory installed 256MB module with a 1GB in the user accessible slot?
I like to buy my memory from Crucial and, whilst they will sell me the 1GB modules, they won't guarantee they will work or support me. I'm hoping you guys can give me a bit more confidence before I take the risk.
    Thanks!

    IanB,
    1. I have 1.5Gb of RAM in my iMac 1.25GHz with no problems. There are numerous other users in these boards with >1Gb RAM.
    2. iMac G4's use single channel RAM and so there is no issue with installing RAM in any combination.
    3. iMac G4 <1GHz max out at 1Gb. iMac G4 ≥1GHz can take 2Gb. <p>
    4. IMHO 1Gb SODIMMs are prohibitively expensive in the UK and probably not worth the extra cost. I've never used the full 1.5Gb RAM available in my system even with EyeTV, iMovie HD, Photoshop Elements and iDVD running together. I installed a 1Gb DIMM and 512Mb SODIMM which is a significantly cheaper combination.
    5. Both my 1Gb DIMM and 512Mb SODIMM are from Crucial. The DIMM I bought as a unsupported/guaranteed as a specific part-number and the SODIMM I ordered through their iMac G4 page. Crucial only support Apple's specs even though they are essentially wrong.
    regards

  • Memory upgrade on late 2011 MacBook Pro 2.4GHz Mountain Lion 10.8.2

I just opened my Laptop and saw that they have   hynix memory installed 2X2 GB I am trying to buy hynix 8X2 to make it 16GB as i was told that MacBook Pro can acomedate 16GB of memory and will be faster.
I am writing deferent suppliers and so far no luck,One told me that they can get it but they are out of it , so i am waiting.
Here is the right memory for it:
    8GB DDR3 PC3- 10600 1333MHz 204 PIN.
    204 -PIN SODIMM
    DDR3-PC3-10600.CL9
    UNBUFFERED.NON-ECC
    DDR3-1333.1.35V . 1024MEGX64
Any one correct me if i am wrong I did a lots of research to get this info.
    Hope it helps othrs.

You do not need to use Hynix; Apple use several brands and as long it's good quality RAM you'll be fine.
Try OWC for starters - they proved the 16GB installation for those models.
    http://eshop.macsales.com/MyOWC/Upgrades.cfm?sort=pop&model=440&type=Memory
Their support is excellent and the memory is warranted for life.

  • Tecra M9 PTM91E - Can I install 3G modem and Turbo memory module?

    Hi guys,
I have this notebook, but I want install aditional mini express card, like a 3G modem and Intel Turbo memory module, but I dont have free connector.
I bought two mini express conectors and solder on mainboard. But cards dont working in notebook. I must somthing enable in BIOS or solder aditional component? Second question is, I want web cam, I have one crom old notebok which is connected across USB. Have this motherboard any free USB conector?
Sry for my English. THX guys

    hi Fab30,
i wonder how you know where to solder the components on the mainboard, some kind of magic i suppose...
if you wanna use your "self-soldered" items make sure that the chipset is able to handle it....
otherwise use a 3g-modem on usb...
the intel turbo memory... as far as i know this is a special chip on the mainboard which stores data to exalerate your os...
if you wanna use these features you have some options:
    - redesign mainboard to your need, some reverse engineering have to be done too
    - buy a notebook which has the desired features in it
in my point of view buying a new one will be easier....

  • How Many Memory Modules (1 or 2) Come Pre-Installed in HP Envy Touchsmart m7-j120dx?

I know my HP Envy Touchsmart m7-j120dx came preinstalled with 8GB of RAM.  I purchased it last year from Best Buy.  Haven't taken the back off of the laptop just yet and it's at home while I'm at work, but wanted to see if anyone can verify *how* the standard 8GB of RAM is in there at present?  Two 4GB memory modules or a single 8GB memory module?
I'm trying to place an order online this afternoon to upgrade the laptop to 16GB of RAM and I'd like to know if I need to order two 8GB memory modules or just a single 8GB memory module, depending on exactly how many memory modules are in the laptop at present to make the existing 8GB of RAM I'm running.
Thanks if anyone knows the answer to this.

    Okay, one more question...
The memory in my laptop came pre-stalled with 8GB of it, with the characteristics of 1600Mhz and DDR3L PC3-12800.
Replacement memory (16GB) recommended by Crucial.com for my system has 1866Mhz instead of 1600Mhz, and is DDR3L PC3-14900.
What was recommended has of course slightly higher specs of the memory than what's currently running in my system for an additional $23 over just replacing the memory with 16GB of RAM having the identical 1600Mhz and DDR3L PC3-12800 specs.
Can my HP Envy TouchSmart m7-j120dx actually do anything as far as increased performance in going with the 1866Mhz and DDR3L PC3-14900 memory or would my laptop continue to "dumb the memory down" to 1600Mhz and DDR3L PC3-12800 specs and not be able to utilize the enhanced specs of 1866Mhz and DDR3L PC3-14900?
Just trying to spend my money wisely.  Thanks for any additional clarification.

  • 3 memory modules?!?!

I'm currently using two 512MB memory modules in dual channel. i want to add more ram to my machine, but i want to keep the pieces that i currently use. so my question is, can i add one more module (1 GB) so that i will have a total of three modules (2GB), or adding the third module will cause instabilities and i should stick with even number of modules (2 or 4)?

it will probably not work in dual channel mode, if your cpu is smart enough to drop back to single channel mode it might work but you'll lose performance...
afaik there is no option to force single channel on that board, so if your system tries to run dual channel mode on that combination it's almost surely in for some memory errors...

That is the wireless card that has the antenna leads attached.
I recommend you read the service manual for your notebook -- chapter 5.6 for how to remove and replace a memory module.

  • MSI 7788 (MSI H61M-P31) motherboard, intending to use 1.6V memory modules

    Hello,
I am intending to purchase a dual channel kit of geil black dragon memory modules. The modules are working at 1.6V. As far as I remember, the moobo specs says that it supports 1.5V dual channel memory modules.
In BIOS, there is the option to change the memory voltage, but it gives me 1.65V.
Should I proceed and purchase the memory modules or I should go for standard 1.5V ?

I have dismounted the CPU cooler asembly after a continous burn in procedure and I achieved 120 celsius degree. I checked all the mosfets and the coils, all of them were cold. Speedfan didn't show that sensor reading.
I have installed though AIDA64 and it seems to find that reading as "AUX".

it still make 3 bips before starting the IMAC.
That is another problem not related to the Mac OS X version you are trying to use.
Three beeps at startup means you have a bad ram module in the computer.  Did you install the ram or did it come from another owner this way?  The first problem you need to solve is the bad ram.
When the iMac starts, go to the apple left side of the menu bar, About This Mac, More Info, System Report, Hardware, Memory and see what the report is on the memory...does the iMac report all memory modules that have been installed as OK or does it show bad memory?  If there is not any information, you then need to remove the memory modules and restart one at a time to see which is bad.
On the bottom of the screen there should be a small door that you can remove with a small screw driver.  You need to lay the iMac flat, disconnect the power cord, remove that small door and remove the memory modules.  You can then put two in (if it has four) and see if it starts without the beeps.  Do that with each module so you find out which is bad.  Once you know the bad memory, you can buy a new module, just like the ones installed, so the iMac starts without the beeps.
Next, you cannot use a DVD for another computer for your iMac unless it is from one that is identical to yours.  So, you need to talk to Apple and have them send the DVD for your particular iMac.

  • Have a mbp late 2011 2.2Ghz original config with 4G of ram 1333mhz , have upgraded ram to 8G of 1600mhz than upgraded with 16G of 1333mhz and find it much slower, should i return to previous config ?

    Cheers everybody, new here...
I know, despite the specs published 8Gmax and 1333mhz, for the macbook pro late 2011 2.2G i7 processor
We can read here that its possible to go 16G ram, and also to 1600mhz.
    1-have a mbp late 2011 2.2Ghz i7 (original config with 4G of ram 1333mhz)
2-last w/e have upgraded ram to 8G of 1600mhz found it seemed to work fine and it was fast
3-than upgraded with 16G of 1333mhz and find it much slower
Not sure of what to do from now :
wondering if it could be that 8G 1600mhz is optimal ?
    I havent tried 16G of 1600mhz yet...

    Hi there !
    Update:
Here are the last changes, as of this morning, of the configuration on my macbook pro late 2011 (2.2Ghz processor 15.4 screen).
    Now have 16 G (2x8) of Kingston RAM 1600mhz (12800 1.35V) that and a brand new 256G samsung 850 pro SSD.
    I KNOW...NOT QUITE THE SPECS SUPPLIED FROM APPLE/INTEL ... :/
I was able to trade the 16G 1333mhz purchased RAM for 16G of 1600mhz , so i gave a shot...
So im happy about the result and hope this will last and not fry in the next weeks...
Honestly It's running quite well and fast too.
    Thanks everybody and good luck
    p.s.
And Here, as promised, the answer from Intel :

The document does not list all the processor models but it is the correct document for your processor family (http://ark.intel.com/products/family/59136/2nd-Generation-Intel-Core-i7-Processo rs#@Mobile). "1Gb, 2Gb, and 4Gb DDR3 DRAM technologies" refer to SDRAM density, it is not about capacity as it is usually expressed in GB (instead of Gb). SDRAM density depends on the total amount of memory chips on the stick and per side (SDRAM organization). Memory modules rated or sold as 1600 MHz may or may not run at 1600 MHz; this depends on the Serial Presence Detect. If the SPD is 1333 MHz it will run at 1333 MHz by default unless it is configured manually. If the memory runs at 1600 MHz (by SPD or set up manually), the memory controller might be running at a higher clock speed than what it was designed for, this may cause issues along the way.
