HT1430 Cannot receive or send e-mails.

I cannot receive or send e-mails. There is a message that "it is not possible" and that I also "SMTP server is not responding" although I provide the correct data. Any ideas?

    Suddenly I cannot receive or send e-mail. Everything has been working just fine until two days ago. I hadn't changed anything in Settings, now I have removed and reinstalled my mail account, with same result though. The only thing I can think of is that when I create my account, my previous job-e-mail adress pops up as default. Maybe it does because when I bought my private MacBook Air and my new iPhone I transferred contacts from adressbook. Anyone recognize this problem?

    Who is your email provider? If it's at&t/Yahoo then please be aware that they have been moving subscribers to a new web based email system. While it should not affect POP accounts I experienced weirdness until I activated the new web based system and changed my smtp and POP server information. Now all is well.

    I've done that. But the settings "mail, contacts, calendar" are still disabled. For example, if I want to add a new mail account, I can not do it. Because the option "add account" is as if it's turned off, disabled, as well as my other accounts above this ...
    The rest of the IOS6 everything worked out, but with the native Mail app is complicated ...

    Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
    Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

    For problems sending email try on SMTP setting turning SSL-ON and use PORT 465.

    To turn adjust your SSL settings the following Knowledge Base article will be of assistance:

    Setting up Mail for SSL
    Important: These steps require Mac OS X 10.1.3 or later.
    1. Open the Mail application.
    2. Choose Preferences from the Mail application menu.
    3. Click Accounts.
    4. Select an account name, and click Edit.
    5. Click the Account Options tab.
    6. Click the Use SSL checkbox to enable this option.
    Selecting the checkbox will auto-populate the default port numbers. If there is a non-default port number already present, it will not change. You can manually enter a number if your ISP gave you a different port number. Be sure you enter the correct port for your mail server here when selecting SSL, even if it auto-populates a default number.
    Note: If SSL is accidentally set up when it should not be, or is configured using the incorrect port for your mail server, an alert box with a message similar to this may appear:
    "Fetch Error: Couldn't connect to a POP host name mail.apple.com."

    interesting that my gmail account does work perfectly.

    this may or may not help - but give it a try.  On a forum some were reporting that talk21 is now under the yahoo umbrella.  below are the steps this use listed.  (This was an android forum, but the email settings should be the same.  In short it looks like their server names have changed.  An existing account may have simply been forwarded - but if you are reinstalling, it may want a clean install to the right servers.)  Pay particular attention to the server names and port settings.  (this thread was started based on a discussion of Imap vs pop - you are already an Imap person - so ignore that part)
    See if this helps.
    why settle for pop3, when IMAP works with talk21 and not only does mail get pushed out faster with IMAP, but when you click refresh it will be received faster than pop3.  The other advantage is subfolders are also supported with IMAP but cant be seen with POP3. This mail feature works with my android eclair & hero phone and the settings are exactly the same for win mobiles also (not tested). The mail setting up roadmap is the same from what i can remember once in the mail feature for win mobi. 
    This is what you need to do to setup Talk21 email with IMAP. 
    Incoming server settings
    IMAP server - imap.mail.yahoo.com
    Port - 143
    Security type - none 
    Outgoing Server settings
    SMTP server - smtp.mail.yahoo.com
    Port - 25
    Security type - none Also important note - Enable 'require sign-in'
    and enter your talk21 username and password The End...works a treat for me p.s. Its only taken me 3 years to work it out with win mobile and recently with android. Finally got it to work...hope this helps all the talk21 users out there. if there are any other similar posts out there with no answer...dont forget to mention my name when passing this post around.

    MobileMe says that 1% of users are experiencing problems with mail, although I was told earlier today that it will be offline or sporadically available for the next 2 days at least. You can always check the status of MobileMe here.
