HELP !!! I got an iPhone 4S for my Christmas from a family member they got it from a friend thinking I will just need to get a new sim on orange so I can use it but the sim or the phone will not let me do anything I went on the orange websites and it says my sim is activate but it will not let me do anything the phone lets me play games go on the internet but will not phone or texts to activate my top up card . Could anyone help I will be so grateful thanks Samantha

Carriers usually will unlock only for current or former customers in good standing (if they provide unlocking at all). The original owner of the phone would be the best one to request the unlocking.
The cost, if any, is determined by the carrier. It's usually free, except if there are remaining contractual obligations or unpaid charges, but some carriers will have a fee regardless.

Can anyone tell me how to slow down a commercial track in Garage band 10.00 I was able to do this in the earlier version of Garage Band quite easily and it is a good tool for being able to teach new dances, but I find I am unable to do it in the new version, which has just been updated. Just found it.
Select your track with song imported from iTunes, open the Track Editor window, and in the head of the track editor and press the "Flex" marker. Make sure "Enable Flex" is set,
Then change the tempo of your project.

IPod Nano 3rd Gen Issues: would be grateful for any help

Dear all,
I recently purchased an iPod Nano 3rd Gen for my wife. I have been using a mac for 7 years, still have my first iPod 5GB scroll wheel as well as a 60 GB iPod video 5.5 Gen.
Here's what's happening.
iPod Nano connected via dock (which is in a USB hub...could that cause problems?)
Connect, sync, no worries.
Update iPod Nano software to 1.0.2.
iPod then, halfway through syncing, flashes the Apple Logo every 6-7 secs and then does the same again.
It is not recognised in iTunes like that.
Any help?

Same thing just happened to me - I have put the Nano 3G into disk mode (hold Menu and Select for 10 seconds then immediately hold Play/Pause and Select).
Just doing a factory restore now, that should bring it back to a brand new state and will try again from there.

Force close the App Store app and reset the iPad. No data will be lost when you reset the device.
In order to close apps, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Next, reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

You appear to be having a hardware problem. Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of your nearest Apple Store to get a diagnosis.

I was trying to "restore my database" in iPhoto when it shut down - now my thumbnails are distorted, logged under a new name, and when you click on a thumbnail it opens as another photo. I was following another "helpful hint" hold down the option and command key and restart iPhoto - select the top three and you should be able to get rid of the dreaded exclamation point. My MAC ran through the first two options dealing with thumbnails, but crashed during the "restore database" step and now I have a mess. Help, please. Thank you.

Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
