I had an PC crash while backing-up my iPhone4, before installing iOs7.
Now I am unable to restore the iPhone.
Can anyone please help me!
Arjen RonhaarHey Arjen Ronhaar,
Thanks for the question. I understand you are experiencing issues updating your iPhone to iOS 7. If you have not already done so, you may want to restart or reset the iPhone:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, you'll want to restore your iPhone in recovery mode with iTunes:

Thanks,

I had songs on my PC and my shuffle and my PC crashed. They were unable to restore my iTunes library when my computer was fixed. The songs still remain on my Shuffle, but now it is being replaced with another Shuffle. Q: How do I get my music from my old Shuffle onto my new Shuffle? Thanks!
You will need the help of some sort of 3rd party software to help you copy the content from your Shuffle back to your PC. Once you have done that, you can reimport this music into iTunes and configure it to sync to your new Shuffle.

Had to do a clean install of my G5 with Tiger. Now , do I need to buy Stuff
Is it necessary to buy Stuffit Deluxe if using Tiger. I read lots of replies to other similar questions. But I couldn't figure out if Stuffit is available already on my DVD of Tiger I bought to upgrade from Panther. Or do I need to purchase? Sorry for the redundant. Stuck here. A switcher.
I stand corrected. I was just going to reinstall Classic/Tiger with my iBook G4 install disks and Stuffit Expander is listed if you click the Customize button. I'm not certain if it's on the Tiger disk or not but at least you can access the free download from here; http://my.smithmicro.com/mac/stuffitexpander/index.html

HT1430 How can I access my Yahoo mail account using my ipad?
How can I get the ipad to stop dinging?
You have two different issues between your subject line and your message. I use the Yahoo mail app and it works nicely. Need more info about your "dinging" problem.

Yahoo Mail Worm/Virus?
This morning my Yahoo mail account sent out a series of Spam emails to random people from my address list. No one was logged into the account at the time this happened. My wife and I routinely access the account from a PC running Norton 360 and from two different Macs. So we're fairly confident none of these computers are infected with anything. I called AT&T/Yahoo tech support, and they indicated that the account appears to have been hacked by some sort of bot... and they thought the issue may be with my iPhone and the fact that it has no antivirus protection.
I took a look at the full headers of the Spam emails and was able to track the originating IP address to Sunnyvale, CA (Yahoo's headquarters). I then compared this with old emails sent from both my home PC and my iPhone. Only the iPhone generated emails went through the Sunnyvale IPs. The emails sent from all three computers on my home network originated from local IPs.
So, bottom line... this leads me to believe that it was indeed my iPhone that somehow triggered the emails. I was driving at the time the emails were sent... so I know I didn't click anything, open any emails, or take any other actions that would have triggered the Spam.
Any idea what's going on here? Should I be concerned that my iPhone has a worm or virus that is triggering these messages? I'm particularly trying to determine if this is just a worm or if an actual person has hacked my account. I changed the password... but that password was also used for some other accounts of mine too. My biggest concern at this point is the potential for identity theft.I called AT&T/Yahoo tech support, and they indicated that the account appears to have been hacked by some sort of bot... and they thought the issue may be with my iPhone and the fact that it has no antivirus protection.
Sorry, but what a crock.
I seriously doubt this is a worm or virus on your iPhone. If so, you will be the first.
Nothing can be installed on an iPhone from a received email, from a website, or from a received MMS except for a photo, and I haven't read about any viruses or worms being included with a JPEG file. Unless your iPhone has been hacked/jailbroken and you have installed unofficial software on your iPhone from an unknown or untrusted source, it would be some trick for a virus or worm to be installed on your iPhone especially since there are no viruses that infect or affect OS X, and the iPhone runs an optimized version of OS X.
Spammers spoof email addresses - using a random/valid email address to appear as the sending email address for the spam usually making use of valid email addresses gathered from their "known good" email address list which is rotated from what is a huge list. A significant portion of spam is generated from Windows computers that have been taken over remotely by spammers with email generated with a spoofed email address without the user's knowledge.
I venture to say the emails were not generated from your iPhone. More than likely your email address has been spoofed by a spammer only - your email account has not been hacked but it can't hurt to change your account's password. -
Pretty sure this will be some sort of user error, but i'm lost.
I had to have my hard drive replaced, so before taking it to the genius bar, i backed up using time machine. I'd had issues with trying to use Carbon Copy Cloner previously so had formatted the external drive before doing time machine. TM seemed to work fine and copied what looked to be everything. Once i'd got the new hard drive in and went to restore everything, when i looked for the file i need to get to apparently get my mails back (Library > Preferences > com.apple.mail.plist) it's not there.
Any help would be MASSIVELY appreciated.
JTurn Time Machine OFF temporarily in its preference pane. Leave the window open.
Navigate in the Finder to your backup disk, and then to the folder named "Backups.backupdb" at the top level of the volume. If you back up over a network, you'll first have to mount the disk image file containing your backups by double-clicking it. Descend into the folder until you see the snapshots, which are represented by folders with a name that begins with the date of the snapshot. Find the one you want to restore from. There's a link named "Latest" representing the most recent snapshot. Use that one, if possible. Otherwise, you'll have to remember the date of the snapshot you choose.
Inside the snapshot folder is a folder hierarchy like the one on the source disk. Find one of the items you can't restore and select it. Open the Info dialog for the selected item. In the Sharing & Permissions section, you may see an entry in the access list that shows "Fetching…" in the Name column. If so, click the lock icon in the lower right corner of the dialog and authenticate. Then delete the "Fetching…" item from the icon list. Click the gear icon below the list and select Apply to enclosed items from the popup menu.
Now you should be able either to copy the item in the Finder or to restore it in the time-travel view. If you use the time-travel view, be sure to select the snapshot you just modified. If successful, repeat the operation with the other items you were unable to restore. You can select multiple items in the Finder and open a single Info dialog for all of them by pressing the key combination option-command-I.
When you're done, turn TM back ON and close its preference pane. -
my laptop had a virus and I am trying to sync my IPHONE 4 to my desktop, how can I sync my phone without losing all my music, apps and contacts?
You are talking about the menu bar of Itunes, right?
Yes. With iTunes open the menu bar is at the top of your screen.
where exactly is the Store/synck you iphone option?
After you authorize the computer connect your iPhone then follow the instructions here > iOS: How to transfer or sync content to your computer
When you are done transferring the data to the desktop, right or control click the iPhone under Devices left side of the iTunes window then click Back Up.
That way you will have a backup just in case you need to restore your iPhone. -
I have always used the same laptop for all of my iPhones but awhile back this laptop had a virus so my husband wiped out the laptop and now when I sync my iPhone I no longer receive my entire music library (including purchased songs) on my iPhone. How do I fix this?

Ok,thanks but, I should be able to something so that I am able to sync the entire library again not just the purchased songs.
If the non purchased music is not on your computer, how can it Sync to your iPhone... -
I had a virus on the pc I have itunes on. The person who fixed it, put all files in 1 file and put it on the desktop. I could not access the itunes at all so finally, I reloaded Itunes and got all my music back. When I synched both my ipods, it had to erase the ipod and load the current page...no problem. Today I had my ipod on shuffle and the songs started to play. Then a song came on and it played part of the song and went to the next one. It started doing this on about every 3 songs. I got home and tried to play the song off my itunes page and the samething happened. This is music I bought from itunes.
I am not a pc person and this is totally frustrating me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.Delete and redownload them if doing so is free in your country.

I'm currently using OSX 10.6.8, 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM Memory. I am not able to upgrade the operating system, and the computer still has 67 GB of memory on the harddrive. I don't use it for anything very intense, mostly internet browsing. I was at a hotel over the weekend and connected to their free wifi. Once back home, two days later, I started receiving pop ups in Chrome. The first was MediaDownloader, so I assume that is the culprit. The second pop up to occur was Trojanalert. I looked through some online community forums and was pointed towards downloading and running AdwareMedic. My operating system does not support this program. Next I read up on how to examine libraries and extensions to find the issue. I'm not well versed in this, but I followed the directions and did not find any malicious looking extensions or items in the libraries. Before looking for the "thing" to remove, I backed up my computer as recommended.
I have never, to my knowledge, had a virus on this computer. I have never experienced pop ups, and I very rarely download any program, especially not software included with other programs.
Could someone recommend a virus/adware/malware utility that will find and remove this issue or provide me with a detailed set of instructions on how to find the issue and then correct it? Are there free online scans or removal tools that are trusted and could help? Also, if I should be posting this somewhere else, please let me know. I have not used this community tool much at all. Thank you in advance for any assistance.First, thanks for the quick response. This is the website that I looked at and was trying to follow. There are no extensions listed in my Safari, and the only two in Chrome are: Google Docs and Java for Browsing. In Firefox the only extension is Garmin Communicator 4.1.0.
To the best of my novice ability I followed the directions to look at the libraries and have not found malicious things there either. As I cannot upgrade to 10.7, is there anything else I'm missing? Again, I've tried my best to locate the cause, but I'm new to looking at files and paths. Nothing jumps out as abnormal or as something listed on thesafemac.com/arg . -
Question
My computer had a virus and had to be cleaned, but I had my Mozilla bookmarks in a Word file now located on my Desktop. I have spent hours trying to drag those bookmarks to the new Mozilla. There should be an easy way to do this. Can you tell me how in simple straightforward steps? Thanks. If the Word file is a document file type (.doc), you may be able to save it as a .html file, then import that .html file into Firefox.
In Word, open the .doc file containing the Bookmarks,
*click File > Save As,
*in the "Save in" box, choose a Folder or location on your hard drive to save the file where you can find it later,
*in the "Save type as" box choose ".html",
*in the "Filename box" enter "bookmarks.html" (without the quotation marks),
*click "Save"
Then follow the-edmeister's instruction in Firefox:
*Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks -> Import & Backup - Import HTML... = from an HTML file
*See: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Importing%20Bookmarks%20from%20an%20HTML%20File
