HT1430 Help with Facetime

We are trying to use Facetime. It keeps telling us it to check our network connection.  Everything seems to be running and we can't figure out why Facetime isnt working.  Any ideas?

Apparently you are not connected to wifi.
Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
    •    Launch Settings app
    •    Tap on Wi-Fi
    •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

can anyone help with facetime? im getting missed calls but it doesnt actually come up with an incoming call.....the person im trying to contact just gets missed calls also?

I've noticed that once you miss a call on FaceTime on a desktop Mac, it won't work properly again until you restart the machine.
I sent in Feedback so we'll see how that goes.

  • TS3367 Help with FaceTime

When using FaceTime on my iPad 2 I can connect with another person so that I can hear and see them, but they can only see me. I am not muted. Is there something else that needs to be changed in the settings? HELP!

You may have an issue with your microphone.
Have you checked to make sure the volume control is up (volume control up and down on the right hand side of your iPad).
Next, double tap your home button and bring up the Task Bar.  Swipe the Task Bar apps all the way to the right and if there will either be a Mute Icon or a Lock Orientation Icon.  If it is a mute icon, touch it.  Touch home to close the task bar.  If you can still not be heard during a facetime call, it's time to take your iPad to your Apple Store Genius Bar.

  • Hey guys i need help with facetime and i am ready to blow up!

I got some many ppl telling me that i have to pay for facetime! My dad got iphone 4 and we live in canada (calgary) My brother lives in Australia and i have mac! Is facetime free to talk to him! Telus is telling us that it will cost my dad 2 dollars a min then Rogers is telling us it is free! I need help cause if both have wifi it should be free! We want to know! Please let me know! thanks! I am ready to blow up here LOL!

All FaceTime calls are over WiFi, thus they are "free", unless you're using a WiFi hotspot that charges for its use.

  • Help with FaceTime sign in

I recently am having trouble signing on to FaceTime.  I keep getting the message "Could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again."  I haven't had this problem before. I have a MacBook laptop, OS X 10.9.  I am able to use FaceTime on my iPhone with no problems.

I have had this problem for some time now and have just fixed it. I cannot say that it will work for all of you, but I suggest you do the following first. Check you have no serial number showing in your firmware checking in the, System > About your Mac > More Info … you’ll get a window stating your Serial Number is None or (in my case) System Serial#: If you cannot see your serial number then it probably means that it is not on the logic board. There have been numerous posts about logic boards being replaced and Apple service centres forgetting to enter the serial number. I myself had to have the logic board replaced three months after I purchased my MacBook Pro. I then found this post, http://rogersm.net/icloud-problems-mountain-lion-serial-number It explains everything in detail and I am very grateful to the poster for finally solving the problem. I would suggest that you follow the instructions in detail, although I did change the startup suggestion - I shut down and restarted whilst holding the option key down. Once the computer had started - the screen showed my hard drive - I inserted the bootable cd I had made. I then double clicked on it and followed the instructions on screen. The software seems to be from Apple themselves as you have to agree to their terms. Once completed and I restarted, both iMessage and FaceTime are working perfectly and my serial number appears in 'About Your Mac > More Info'. Prior to using this software, I did search extensively to see if it would be okay - most posts said they had success. Just to let you know, you will need to find your original serial number to be able to do this. I had kept the box so it was easy for me to find it. It should also be on your purchase receipt. My MacBook is from late 2011. I cannot guarantee that this will work for everybody, so please decide for yourself before going down this route, as I did.

  • I need help with facetime

I moved and had to reset my apple I.d. Now I can't get on face time. My I.d. Works for everything else. Any suggestions?

Probablly not the answer you want but use Skype instead.  I didn't have the patience for facetime and never have a problem with Skype.  It's free at the App store.

  • HT203585 Help with facetime

I updated my OS to Yosemite I want to add a name to my facetime list facetime won't add the name, no matter what I try nothing works. Yes everything is set correct in facetime. I have a macbook pro. all so when someone tries calling me my facetime won't ring, yes volume is up.

The easiest way I've found is to -> open your face time app, you'll see live video on right and a list of your contacts on left. Just above the list is a small box (just below audio and video) and you click on the "+" icon and that will open your contacts list, then you select contact to be added.
The other option is to delete your current facetime and reload facetime from the app store.
    Hope this helps.

  • Help with facetime ring

I can't get my ipad to ring when I get a facetime call.  I'm told I need to go to settings, but there is no specific adjustment for facetime.  HELP!!

This comes and goes as a discussion topic. I dont think it was ever fully answered.
Some have the problem when the pad has been asleep.  Some never ring at all, others, random fails.  Mine rings all the time.
    Some things to check.
Mute is off?  The ring is a system sound, and will not ring if it is muted.
There is no ring setting in facetime settings.
In notifications, are notification main switch on?  Then look at facetime notification.  I have mine turned on, alert style set to alerts.
And, as always, the occassional reboot.
    Any help?

    Hey Guys,
    I have a Macbook Pro,
My Problem is my Internet supports everything on my Mac like Browsing,Downloading etc...
But when it comes to FaceTime it says please check your internet connection & try again..
    How to Activate FaceTime??

OK so now you have access to facetime and your earlier question was resolved but you can't make facetime calls.  I assume you have activated facetime in settings/facetime.  what setting you have there?

  • HT1430 Help with on/off & reset

I've tried to turn off/on my iPhone4S, but it's not responding.  When plugged into a power source the apple appears for about 10sec, then fades away to a black screen, then reappears after 3-5sec.  That's all I can get it to do....please help

You probably have to put it in recovery mode now and restore it. Something went wrong when you updated the iPad. If you backed up before you updated the device, you will be able to restore the backup, sync with iTunes and you should be fine.
Try a conventional restore first. This explains how to do it. Read all the way to the bottom and see the section unde Additional Information for the link to Recovery Mode.

  • Help with facetime

Downloaded lion unable to use face time. It says there is a processing error.

Hmmm...I've seen other people on here with the same problem and it seems that reseting the phone in iTunes worked for some but it puts the phone back to its original state You might try contacting Apple to see if they have any advice.

  • TS4268 Need help with FaceTime server

I'm on a vacation in Spain and every time I try to use FaceTime it won't let me sign in And says cant connect to FaceTime server and to try again. Does anyone know what to do to fix this problem? (Using iPad mini )

You and I and everyone else here has no way to fix, adjust or do anything to Apple's servers.
All we can do is troubleshoot your Internet connection.
    Do you have one?
    What kind, wifi or cellular?
Are you able to surf Internet?

  • HT204380 Help with facetime app

I bought my iPad in Dubai and I have read that you cant get it in UAE. i now live in UK. I it possible to download the Facetime app? i cant find it in the store...

FaceTime is native to the iOS. You may have to log out of the store and log back into the UK store and perform a restore.
