im using my moms old iphone 3g as an ipod and i updated it when i turned it on it said silde to set up how do i get rid of that oh and theres no sim card.

HT1430 Help with Facetime

We are trying to use Facetime. It keeps telling us it to check our network connection. Everything seems to be running and we can't figure out why Facetime isnt working. Any ideas?

Apparently you are not connected to wifi.
Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
    •    Launch Settings app
    •    Tap on Wi-Fi
    •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.

Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 15 minutes, if:

Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.

Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.

HT1430 Help with on/off & reset

I've tried to turn off/on my iPhone4S, but it's not responding. When plugged into a power source the apple appears for about 10sec, then fades away to a black screen, then reappears after 3-5sec. That's all I can get it to do....please help

You probably have to put it in recovery mode now and restore it. Something went wrong when you updated the iPad. If you backed up before you updated the device, you will be able to restore the backup, sync with iTunes and you should be fine.
Try a conventional restore first. This explains how to do it. Read all the way to the bottom and see the section unde Additional Information for the link to Recovery Mode.

HT1430 Help.....Cancel send

I was forwarding am email with attachments, that did not go through. Whenever I return to mail, it is still trying to send. I have closed email, shut off the unit, reset the IPad, and deleted the original email. How can I cancel send?

A couple of suggestions.
To cancel the send, in mail, at the top left, hit the arrow to see the folders available for that account. Mif there is a message stuck, it will be in the outbox. Try to delete it from there.
As to why it is not going through... How big is it, with all the attachments? Some mail providers put a limit on how big an e mail can be. 10 mb is a pretty common number. Your recipient's mail server may be rejecting the message because of its size.
Other mail servers reject messages that are relayed, that is forwarded by your mail provider through another service. Who is your provider? The recipients provider may be seeing your message as a relayed message, and rejecting it. Although when they do that there is generally an error message telling you the problem.
Lastly, are you sending via cell, or wifi? Your cell provider may have a cap on size it will send. Try again while on a wifi connection.

- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

If you've forgotten the passcode and it's now locked then you will need to connect the iPad to the computer that you normally sync to and you should then be able to reset the iPad and re-sync your content to it (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212) , and you may need to put the iPad into recovery mode : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
