HT1430 how do i completely restart my ipod touch when i dont know my pass code?

i forgot my passcode an dont know how to restart it .

- You do not have to restore to factory defaults/new iPod if you forgot your screen-lock passcode. The screen-lock passcode is NOT restored if the backup contains a screen-lock passcode.
- You also may have to place the iPod in Recovery mode to allow a restore.

    Hello Becky,
Have you double checked to make sure it hasn't been moved to a different page or folder?  Double check your iPod's Restrictions as well to make sure it hasn't been disabled.  To do this, head to Settings -> General -> Restrictions.
Default Apps that came with your iPod or Apple's iOS cannot be removed.

If you have forgotten your Restrictions code, then follow the instructions
below but DO NOT restore any previous backup. If you do then you will
simply be restoring the old Restrictions code you have forgotten. This
same warning applies if you need to restore a clean system.
A Complete Guide to Restore or Recover Your iDevice (if You Forget Your Passcode)
If you need to restore your device or ff you cannot remember the passcode, then you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and re-sync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.
Try restoring the iOS device if backing up and erasing all content and settings doesn't resolve the issue. Using iTunes to restore iOS devices is part of standard isolation troubleshooting. Restoring your device will delete all data and content, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, and calendar information, and will restore all settings to their factory condition.
Before restoring your iOS device, Apple recommends that you either sync with iTunes to transfer any purchases you have made, or back up new data (data acquired after your last sync). If you have movie rentals on the device, see iTunes Store movie rental usage rights in the United States before restoring.
Follow these steps to restore your device:
         1. Verify that you are using the latest version of iTunes before attempting to update.
         2. Connect your device to your computer.
         3. Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes under Devices.
         4. Select the Summary tab.
         5. Select the Restore option.
         6. When prompted to back up your settings before restoring, select the Back Up
option (see in the image below). If you have just backed up the device, it is not
             necessary to create another.
         7. Select the Restore option when iTunes prompts you (as long as you've backed up,
you should not have to worry about restoring your iOS device).
         8. When the restore process has completed, the device restarts and displays the Apple
             logo while starting up:
After a restore, the iOS device displays the "Connect to iTunes" screen. For updating
to iOS 5 or later, follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant. For earlier versions of
iOS, keep your device connected until the "Connect to iTunes" screen goes away or
              you see "iPhone is activated."
         9. The final step is to restore your device from a previous backup. If you do not have a
backup to restore, then restore as New.
If you are restoring to fix a forgotten Restrictions Code or as a New device, then skip Step 9 and restore as New.

  • HT1320 how do i unlock my ipod if i dont know the pass code

i dont know my passcode and i need to get into my ipod

    Hello calebwhite50
You would need to put your iPod touch into recovery mode and then use iTunes to restore it. Once the restore is complete and you have a backup, within iTunes or iCloud, you can put that back up back on without the passcode coming back.

Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to shut down.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then restore the device.

    For how to restore:

    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

  • HT1414 How can I get into my iPod Touch when its disabled because I forgot the password?

    Hi,
My name is Amanda Davis and my daughter, Sydney Davis, got an iPod Touch. A few days ago, she changed her password to what she thought was her name, but instead she changed to something else and she can't get into it. She tried to put her password in it and it locked her out every single time. Now it is disabled.

1: Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
2: If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.
3: If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try using the steps in this article to force the device into recovery mode.

  • How to install an app on ipod touch when it doesn't allow you to touch Free/install?

Unable to install any apps on my daughter's ipod touch.  When you try to touch "Free" to install it, nothing happens.  Have tried turning it off and on again.

This is a bug experienced by quite a few users lately that I'm sure Apple is aware of and working on. I have never had this problem, so I can't speak for myself, but I would try a reset. Hold the home and power buttons at the same time until the Apple boot logo appears. No data will be lost.

  • HT1414 How can I unlock passcode on iPod touch when iTunes account is on ipad

My daughter has brand new iPod, I set up passcode and immediately forgot it after setting it up.  I set it up without using a computer as my iTunes account is on my iPad, is there anyway to unlock it?

Connect the iPod to the computer and restore via iTunes. If necessary, place the iPod inRecovery Mode to allow the restore.
A forgotton password is one of the uses that still requires a computer w/iTunes.
