I cannot switch my phone off as it is stuck on a black screen with a circle going round as if it is going on to the next screen, I cannot seem to chnage it off this screen. i also will not connect to itunes with an unknown error 0xE800065. Any ideas???

Start at # 3
1- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
2 Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

3 If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
4 Try on another computer
5 If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I figured it out by pressing the home button and the off button but when i turn my phone on again it's not restored. And when i try to restore it with iTunes it has to update but i can't update my phone because it's jailbreaked but if i can't update it, it won't restore the phone.

Press the Power button and hold it down until the computer turns off. Restart. Do you still get the same result? If so, then try booting into Safe Mode, then restart normally. A safe mode startup takes considerably longer than a normal one, so don't panic. You will also see a progress bar at the beginning.

Update: my PC USB hub was connected to a USB 3 port, I connected the 30 pin cable directly to my PC, And the restore worked just fine. Restored phone from iCloud backup and seems to be working fine.

If that didn't help, do a restore by connecting with iTunes.

You may well have to force the iPhone into recovery mode & restore as a new device. Hold down the sleep/wake button and the home button for ~10 seconds, or until the apple logo appears. This is called a reset.

IPhone 5 randomly shuts off and it is stuck at the loading screen with codes popping up

My friend's iPhone randomly shuts down today and the loading screen with the apple logo came on with some codes. I tried restarting it manually but the same thing keeps happening. The codes start with [nand] and mention something about blocks. What could be the problem?

Could be a hardware fault. It may need to be replaced.

I have been advised by Apple that the latest IOS update may overcome this situation but I'm only on slow download speeds and 690 Mb would take forever. I would appreciate any advice.
