HT1430 ipad iphone email problems

My once perfectly performing ipad and iphone no longer can connect to my mail server to send or receive emails.
I have tried deleting the accounts from both devices and it still does not work. Any other suggestions?

  • HT1668 How do I create a new folder on my iPad & iPhone email mailboxes, when my provider is RCN?  All I have is Inbox, VIP, Sent, and Trash.

How do I create a new folder on my iPad & iPhone email mailboxes, using RCN as my Internet provider?

Actually, you can create additional mailboxes directly on the iPad. I have done it in 3 differemt IMAP accounts. But you do have to have IMAP email. However as stated above, this is not a function of the mail app.
If you had an IMAP email account, any additional mailboxes that you already had set up would have synced to the iPad and you would see them in your email account in the Mail app.
if you want to see for yourself..... If you go to your email account in the Mail app and look at the window where your inbox, trash folder and sent folder are - if there is an Edit button at the top of the window - tap that and then tap Add Mailbox at the bottom.
If the Edit button is not there - you cannot create folders on the iPad. Your email account is not IMAP.

  • Iphone email problem-has anyone had a problem caused by the VPN app, Hotspot Shield?

Has anyone had an iPhone email problem associated with the VPN app, Hotspot Shield?

I just want to make a record for the Apple Community. After installing Hotspot Shield on my iPhone 5, I developed a host of email problems including erratic reception and recurrent failures to send emails. I called Apple Support and, after standard repair measures failed (like deleting email accounts and reinstalling them) was advised to try deleting Hotspot Shield.
Removal of Hotspot Shield was unexpectedly difficult (simple deletion of the icon that works with other Apps did not suffice). With the help of Apple Support, the Hotspot Shield app was finally eradicated. The result was that all the email problems disappeared.
Again, I just wish to make this record of iPhone email trouble clearly caused by Hotspot Shield available in case someone else runs into the same problem. I did not contact Hotspot Shield but the point is that I began with an email problem that was mysterious to Apple Support and we finally traced it to a recent installation of Hotspot Shield.

  • My ipad & iPhone email is don't linking.

My ipad & iPhone email is don't linking.

    Please try the following…
        1.    First check that all your settings are correct, that contact syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
        2.    Make sure the contacts you are adding are added to your 'iCloud' group and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud group (you can do this by checking in groups), non iCloud contacts will not sync.
        3.    If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your contacts are in the iCloud group, you might try unchecking contact syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling contact syncing.
Follow a similar check for calendars.

  • IPhone/iPad yahoo email problems

My yahoo email was working fine on my iPhone 4s until a few days ago. Now it won't download my email anymore. Same thing on my iPad. I tried rebooting and that does not fix the problem. Just keep getting "connection to server failed" No problem with email on my computer which is not Apple. Any suggestions?

    Again, same problem here.
I changed my Yahoo! password via laptop and  subsequently both iPhone and iPad are not able to gain access to Yahoo! mail using the Yahoo! client pre-loaded into the mail settings on both devices. I've tried a hard reset of both devices to no avail and get the message 'Server Unavailable' after deleting and attempting to set up the accounta on both devices again.
Any help woud be appreciated, especially as (one would assume) the Apple devices should be able to receive Yahoo! mail simply given the specific Yahoo! option in the mail settings.

  • IPad & IPhone Mail problem

For ages now, I have used my Ipad and iPhone to access my emails on their Mail app.
Yesterday and still today I can't access my BT emails on my Ipad or Iphone accept for through Safari. I keep on getting server and password errors. It seems to be a common problem recently with other users having the same problem. I have googled it and done everything I have found but it still doesn't work. I have changed my password, restarted the Ipad, deleted the email account re entered the account. But the only way I can access my emails is by setting it up on my Ipad as an " other" email account. The problem with this is I have various folders I use in my BT account which this method doesn't give me access to like it use to when set up as a yahoo type email account.
Is there a solution out there that will allow me to get my emails and folders as I use to ?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Sorry I will try but can't see that helping, because I get the same errors when I switch off WiFi on my IPhone and try over 3G.
    What happens in full is.
I go in to the mail on my ipad. It refreshes and pulls off my me.com (apple) emails it then goes for my BT emails.
1st Message is B.T. password missing so I type in my BT password
2nd message is a domain 1032 error and asks for password again.
3rd Message is server unavailable try later
I checked and double checked my password was in my settings, I also read some advice saying to reset password, which I've done and still the same error.
I have tried deleting and setting up again and I have tried numerous restarts and even a restore all resulting in the same error.
Like I said I have also tried setting it up as "other" which works but with limited ability as it doesn't show my folders in my BT account. I can access my BT email via Safari without any problem. I just like the mail app and function which brings a couple of email address together.
From what I have read its a Apple fault and doesn't appear to be a BT one.

  • IPAD/iPhone Email Messages

receiving two email messages on my iPad and iPhone for every one sent to me.  How do I correct this?

You're right, I didn't understand your problem.  So, you're getting double messages on both iPad and iPhone at the same time?  I just went out to google and see others have this (I don't), but I wasn't able to see a solution that was universal.  Some people turned iMessage off, then on on both devices and that solved their problem.  Some people rebootted their iPad.  I'd try both and see if that solves your double message issue.

  • IPad iPhone email accounts forgetting contacts?

On my iPhone and iPad I have my personal and work email accounts configured in mail. When switching back and forth, I find that mail has no recollection of my contacts in the address field when it goes to autocomplete the email address. For instance when I switch back to my gmail from my work account (Microsoft exchange)  to send a note to my wife, the only addresses it remembers are all of the people at my workplace. It's kind of annoying. Thoughts?

  • TS1398 iPad 3 email problem

I am new to Apple having just purchased an iPad3.  All is fine except emails. Some come through normally but most only show the subject line and the body of the emails shows ' This message has not been downloaded from the server '  I did take the iPad to an Apple store and they checked the settings but couldn't cure the problem. My PC uses Vista and my isp is Orange with a freeserve email address. Hope someone can help. thanks

Windows mail has a very good help section on how to set up and sync with mobile devices along with a troubleshooter.  I use outlook myself so unless someone with Windows Mail reading this wants to jump in, I would only be able to write verbatim what the help will tell you if you read it directly.
Sorry I cannot assist further - type in "intermittent downloading' in your Windows Mail help search panel, is about the best I can suggest at this stage.  But please - if you find a solution - post it back so others researching the same or similar problem can find an answer.  Thanks for your time and apologies for not being able to pinpoint a solution for you.
    Best regards, Ct

  • ICal iPad, iPhone syncing problems

I have turned off icloud calendars on both devices then I have reset them both and then turned back on icloud calendars, numerous times, yet still my calendar entries do not show up on my iPad.
I have both devices set to show "all events"
    This is a recent problem.
I have an iPad 1 and iphone 4s

Many thanks, that was indeed true and it does answer part of the question. Do you happen to know why one event every now and then will not sync properly, but if you erase it and start again, it will? I am not joking....

  • ITunes/ipad/iPhone synching problems

I have an ipad and iPhone synched to iTunes via the same apple ID. Ive recently deleted a number of tracks in itunes, the ipad syncs correctly and updates the deleted items but the deleted tracks are not being removed from the iPhone? The ipad matches iTunes but the iPhone now does not. How can I get the iPhone to sync correctly and update the deleted tracks?

Wanted to follow up on this as the problem has now been solved (thanks to Apple's excellent support). I had purchased the extended care package when I upgraded my Mac (based on prior experience I knew it would be money well spent). That allowed me to call Apple support and ask them for their help. After removing a set of cache files located in my iPhoto application I'm not able to sync both my iPad and my iPhone. Issue resolved.

  • Ipad & iphone scroll problems

A recent find...after installing update 8.0 on both my iPhone 5 and iPad retina, I've had little luck with the scroll area within a page working properly. The entire page moves and the section I want to scroll remains stationary. I had little problem prior to this update.

    Solved with update 8.0.2

  • IPad & iPhone Sync problems

This is starting to make a hole in my head!
I have one album that doesn't want to sync with my iPhone. I tried repairing the database - no joy. Then I tried rebuilding the database - even less joy (since it deleted all the images from 2 of my albums and I had to replace those.)
Every time I would try to sync to the iPhone, I would get a -50 error. Meanwhile, syncing the same album to AppleTV worked fine.
OK, I decided this was probably due to a problem with a single photo. So I muddled through testing, and found 4 photos that were preventing the sync. I removed those 4 photos, and it was able to sync with the iPhone.
But then I tried to sync the same album to my iPad, and the -50 error is back. When I get some time, I'll try to track down the additional images that might be causing it for the iPad.
But this leaves me frustrated and confused:
    1) Why would the same album sync fine to AppleTV, but have a problem syncing to iPhone and iPad?
    2) Why would different photos be causing the same error on different devices?
    3) Why is this only an issue for photos in that 1 album?
    4) What would cause individual images not to sync?
BTW - to fix the problem with the individual images, I duplicated the master for those files. I then lifted/stamped the adjustments. The new image was able to sync just fine.
    Any suggestions?

Well, after hours of troubleshooting, I think I figured out the problem.
    First, the fix:
Select all images in the "offending" album.
While holding down the "Option" key, click right and select "Generate Previews".
    Then re-sync, and it works.
My theory on why this works:
I suspect there was no problem with the Aperture Library. I believe the problem was with the iTunes Optimized Image Cache - you know, when iTunes says "Optimizing xx of yy images for iPad". That cache, I believe, is only updated when there is a change to the image. I'm also guessing that deleting the image from the device (iPad or iPhone) does not delete the image from the cache, so if you then re-add it to the device, it pulls it from the cache. So the only way to re-generate the cached image is to make a change to the image. This can be accomplished by making additional adjustments to the image. But of course, no one wants to do that. So instead, another way to update the timestamp on the image is to regenerate the preview. When iTunes sees the update to the timestamp, it goes ahead and runs its "Optimizing..." task, recreating the cached image that gets dumped onto the iPad or iPhone.
So, I believe this is actually a bug in iTunes.
