Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Iphone keeps crashing and restarting

How do i fix it?

I had read on another post that the facebook app was the culprit of crashing, which may be the cause of my iphone 4s crashing. I haven't had the facebook app installed in several months, but had the integration set up through the settings, & have since deactivated my facebook account.
I have deleted the account in settings & will see if the issue still continues (settings>facebook>delete account).

Iphone 4 crashed, wont reset

My Iphone 4 crashed over the weekend. Completely unresponsive until I plugged it into a power cord & then the apple symbol would appear every few seconds. I was alerted once that I needed to restore my iphone from itunes, but I wasn't near my computer. I've now plugged my iphone into my computer and it won't launch itunes or appear as a devide when I open itunes. The phone simply flashes the apply symbol every few seconds and does nothing else.

I've now set my phone into recovery mode but it can't restore on itunes. Error 2001. I've disconnected all devices other than my mouse and keyboard. Any suggestions?

Iphone 4 crashed wont restore??

So my Iphone 4 crashed this morning, so i tried to do a system restore via Itunes, then a box pops up saying 'Iphone cannot be restored error (9), so i checked the error code on the net, and it says that it should be a connection with the USB lead, and to try a few things. So i did, and tried a few more times, and it still says the same error. Does anyone know how i can sort this problem out??

If your computer has 4 USB ports, does this mean your computer is a desktop?
If so, you want to use one of the high powered USB ports located at the back of the computer - connected direct to the USB port - not connected to a USB hub.
Try placing your iPhone into recovery mode.

Do a backup.
Quit Mail.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Go to Library/Containers/com.apple.mail. Move the folder com.apple.mail to your desktop. You must move the entire folder, not just the contents.
Re-launch Mail and test. If the problem is solved, recreate any required Mail settings and import any emails you want to save from the folder on the desktop. You can then put the folder in the Trash. If the problem remains, return the folder to where you got it replacing the one that is there.

HT1430 IPhone 4s will not restart

I have an IPhone 4s and it will not restart. When I press the button on the top right the battery and charging Icon appears but will not restart. I have checked internet and follwoed the instructions to reboot, with no success.
Any ideas?

Ummm... plug it into a charger? Silly, I know, but you do not actually say you tried it...
And if you have, did it indicate it was charging satisfactorily?

GDM logout or crash wont restart X server

Got a wierd problem here and I sure could use some help.
GDM starts up fine.
I can log into Gnome without any issues.
I can lock screen with gnome-screensaver and unlock without issues.
However, if I Ctrl+Alt+Backspace or logout of my gnome session, I see GDM shut down which brings me to a black screen. Then, the screen powers off and I'm forced to reboot.
Trying to get to a console with Ctrl+1 or Ctrl+Alt+1 will not do anything.

Hi, have you solved this problem? I have exactly the same problem with you, but i'm with fglrx driver. I'm not sure if this is a gdm problem or X, but logout is fine when using xf86-video-ati driver.
Really annoying problem to me, I DO NOT want to restart PC just to have a X related configuration taking effect.
EDIT: well, after a little experiment, I can confirm that it's not GDM's problem, it might be X Server or Graphics card driver's problem. I set inittab to not boot into gdm, but start gnome via startx (modify .xinitrc). The first time(I mean after boot into console, then type startx for the first time) X server start up correctly, then I logged out, and type startx for the second time, then caused a kernel panic, I have to shutdown laptop by pressing power button for 3 seconds. Since GDM didn't run at all, so I say it should be X server or graphics driver's fault.
Any idea?

Iphone is crashing under 35% battery

After updating to ios 4.0 on my 3gs, my iphone is crashing and restarting when it gets to 30 to 35 percent battery life. Then after rebooting by its self, I try to do something and I crash over and over, until I recharge it over 35 percent. One strange problem. Anyone.
Otherwise works great!

Thanks Dan, what I tried to do was quit all apps except one. Seems to work this time, but this means I have to have all apps quit everytime I get close to 35percent battery. Not the perfect solution, but at least there is a way to work around it. I found that when I try and quit after it crashes it doesn't help and will continue to crash. Funny how it all works so quirky?

Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting that track from your phone and re-download it via the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app on it, or the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes.
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music or if it re-downloads in the same state then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via the Store > View Account menu option and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that song and use the 'Report a Problem' link and fill in details about the problem (iTunes support should reply within, I think, about 24 hours).
If the 'report a problem' link doesn't work (it's been taking some people to this site on a browser instead of showing a form in iTunes) then you can try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page.

Go to: Apple > Force Quit
and select Mail > Force Ouit.

In trying to include what information all that I could I should have specified I DON'T KNOW THAT IT WAS DEFINATELY JAILBROKEN when I took it to the apple store they told me there's no way for them to tell if it was jail broken or not. I'm only going by what ppl have told me COULD HAVE BEEN DONE TO THE PHONE. With that said the only thing I know for sure is that the apple tech at the Genius Bar told me that someone took control of my root menu in February & I've had no control of my phone since. I asked him how to regain control & how he knew his exact words were "oh that is out of our scope of capabilities here at this level & you would need an apple engineer to fix it". I said ok then how do I get an apple eng then? He laughed & said you can't!!!! To which I was furious I came home & called apple requesting to speak w/the fraud dept to file a report they said we don't have a fraud dept!! So after a 45 mn phone call again I left w/no answers.

I DON'T HAVE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO SPEND HIRING AN ATTORNEY & Although I appreciate your suggestion I fail to how an attorney would be able to facilitate in any way since there's no suspect. I cannot prove that it's him doing it so I certainly can't pursue legal action w/no proof & no money. :'((

I was looking more for a TECHNICAL way to avoid this happening w/a new phone should I buy one or trying to get them out of my phone now! Such as installing some kind of software protection?? Someway to clear out the entire phone (other than factory reset which was done 10 x's w/no success, etc. if this person got in then there HAS TO BE A WAY OF GETTING HIM OUT, right????
