HT1430 iphone 4, broken top button, will not power on.... just a blank screen.... any help?

was working fine ths morning.... no idea what happened

If your top button isn't working; you should consider replacing it. A hardware failure like that would prevent the ability to power off the device/hard reset it....THe best you can try to do is a forced recovery mode if able

  • Broken Home button / Will not power on

    Talk about unfortunate.
My home button recently broke, as in it would not click when pushed. I was able to get by if I pressed firmly enough, thankfully. However, recently, that stopped working, and now the button (or lack thereof) does not work anymore.
And what's more, my iPod Touch randomly froze and died while having it connected to iTunes -- it's done this several times before, so I figured it wasn't anything new and I am used to it. However, when I hold the power button, the screen does nothing and it will not power on. iTunes doesn't pick it up when plugged in, and I can't do the force-power-off using the Power+Home button combination... because one of those buttons no longer works.
Is there any chance of a workaround, or is this hopeless and I will need to get a replacement?

Bleh. After doing research, it looks like I'll have to go in to the store. I don't think fixing the issue where it doesn't turn on will fix anything, since the home button does not work and that is a vital part of the system.
    Thanx. =]

  • Satellite P100 will not power up or has blank screen

So I have this laptop that has failed me about 4 months ago. Will not power on anymore. I can press the start button and it sounds like its working but there is nothing on the screen. I can hear the fan every now and again and then a beep after about 1 min after "start up" but screen looks dead. Nothing appears on screen at all.
I've tried the powering on with and without the battery.
My laptop use to get very hot and freeze as far as I remember.
I've replaced my Toshiba with other notebook but if my Satellite is not gonna work again is there a way I can get files off there still?
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi
    > I've replaced my Toshiba with other notebook but if my Satellite is not gonna work again is there a way I can get files off there still?
You need the data and files from the internal HDD?
You could access the data connecting the P100 HDD as an external USB HDD to the other computer.
You could remove the HDD from the P100 and could insert it into a external USB caddy
I think the HDD supports the SATA interface so you have to look for SATA USB caddies
    Regarding the P100 issue;
Well it seems to be a hardware problem We can speculate only about the kind of malfunction but for me it looks like a serious issue
The best is to get in contact with an notebook technician and to check the single parts
    Good luck

There is a problem with iMessage with what Apple says is a small number of iPhones and they are working on a fix. In the meantime try this:
    1. Settings > Messages > iMessage = Off
    2. Settings > FaceTime > FaceTime = Off
    3. Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
    4. Wait for the iPhone to Reboot
    5. Settings > FaceTime > FaceTime = On
    6. Settings > Messages > iMessage = On
You may have to repeat the steps a couple of times.

2nd Gen Time Capsule - will not power up - just stopped working all of a sudden - I have tried other power outlets - I have tried pressing the reset button - no light

The power supply is shot. But that it lasted even this long is the wonder.. not that it died.
    The TC runs too hot..
Look on ebay for "Time Capsule power supply"
You can get a replacement and fix it although the economics are not so good.. it is probably time for a new TC.
If you can DIY it is really only a few dollars worth of capacitors that go bad.

  • IPhone 4 will not power on - just displays apple icon

Please help: my Apple iPhone 4 will not power on. It only displays the apple icon. I already tried a hard reset where I pressed and held and power and home button for 10 seconds and it still won't power on

Try restoring the iPhone from recovery mode.
This Apple doc will walk you through the process -> iOS: Unable to update or restore

  • My brand new iMac will not power up after an update restart, any suggestions?

Any suggestions on why my IMac will not power up after it done a restart?

Try an SMC reset and PRAM reset: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3603
    If that doesn't help:
See if it will start in Safe Boot: restart holding down the Shift key until you see a grey progress bar, type your admin password when prompted, let it continue to (hopefully) boot. Restart as normal from the Apple menu.
If that didn't help, try booting into the Recovery HD: restart holding down Command+r and choose Disk Utility from the four choices when they appear on screen. Once DU has launched select your Macintosh HD on the left and click on 'repair disk'. If anything gets changed click on repair disk again until you get a clear pass, restart as normal from the Apple menu.
If you still have problems, give AppleCare a call.

  • IPod Touch stuck in DFU mode, broken lock button, will not connect to computer.

I have an iPod 4g running on iOS 6.1.6. The lock button has been broken for little over a year now. But yesterday, my iPod went into DFU mode and will not connect to my computer whatsoever. I have tried everything that Apple tells you to do to try and fix this issue like restarting AMDS, reinstalling iTunes, and even the USB Driver. Nothing has worked, and I would really like some help with this. Thank you very much!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
Ignore the reset and when it says place the iPod in recovery mode
Place the iPod in recovery mode using one of these programs:
    For PC
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
    or
    http://joshuabailey1997.wordpress.com/2010/09/02/recboot-v1-3/
    If necessary:
    Download QTMLClient.dll & iTunesMobileDevice.dll for RecBoot
    and
    RecBoot tip
RecBoot may have problems on 64X windows, then try:
Tenorshare ReiBoot – Enter & Exit iPhone, iPad, iPod Recovery Mode with a Single Click
    For MAC or PC
    The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella
    Installs blootware on PC too
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • HT201401 IPhone 4S will not power down- just resets.

Last couple weeks I haven't been able to power down my iPhone.
    1) I press & hold the power button until the power off slider appears.
    2) I slide the slider to power off.
    3) iPhone displays the 'spinner' while shutting down.
    4) iPhone goes blank for 500-1000 ms.
    5) iPhone displays the white apple logo and reboots.
I first noticed this on a flight last week.

When USP charging cable is connected to both the live wall charger and iphone,
the iPhone will succesfully 'Slide to Power Off'.
When the USB cable is not connected the following:
    1. Hold down power button until "Slide to power off appears".
    2. Slide the slider.
    3. Iphone gets the spinny wheel.
    4. Screen goes dark for a second.
    5. Apple logo then appears and the iphone eventually turns back on.
    6. No Apps are installed on this 4S.
    7. Restored on iTunes several times, No change.
    8. Changed USB Cable, No change.
    9. Cleaned Connector port w/ brand new, Clean, soft tootbrush, No change.
    10. Blown clean air into the connetor, No change.
    Any New developments / suggestions?????????????

  • My iPod touch will not come on just a black screen

my ipod touch will not turn on,

Make sure the device is plugged in to the charger for at least 10 minutes before trying to power on. If that doesnt work try a hard reset on the device, hold in the home button and the power button until the Apple shows on the screen.
    Thanks

  • TS3474 My nano will not power on when fully charged, screen remains black.

Bought early 2012, no idea what generation it is. When connected to the stereo, the screen illuminates and nano works with stereo controls. When I try to take the nano for a run, when holding the power button down the screen remains black and no amount of touching the screen will produce an image or any sound. Any ideas about troubleshooting the black screen when powering up un-connected?

    Hello gatormother,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information, take a look at:
iPod nano (7th generation): Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4433
Will not turn on or screen remains dark
Connect iPod to power for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has enough charge to allow iPod to turn on.
If iPod does not turn on after ten minutes, try resetting it while it is still connected to power. Reset the iPod by holding down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for at least six seconds or until you see the Apple logo appear.
If the Apple logo appears on the display, connect iPod to a computer and verify that it appears in iTunes and can play music. If iPod appears in iTunes and can play music, no further troubleshooting is needed.
If the screen remains dark and will not turn on, then your iPod may need service.
    Have a nice day,
    Mario
