HT1430 Mic not working on BRAND NEW iphone 4 - pathetic!

First time out of the box, and the mic on my brand new iPhone4 ordered from Apple doesn't work! Not for calls, not for Voice Memos, nothing!
Presumably a hardware issue, so I guess it will be going back unless anyone has any ideas of what might be wrong?

Maybe hardware, maybe not... did you restore a backup of an older phone to the new one?
If so, try setting it up as a new phone and see if the problem persists. It may be corruption in the backup used to set it up.

Well to start your iPhone 4S does not have 4G... it just shows 4G at the top of the screen..
Try turning SIRI off and on.. if that does not work
Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings..
Because SIRI is a network connection to a server nothing more.. it is not on your device so nothing is wrong with your phone..
Also SIRI is in BETA... and not 100%

Touch Screen not working on Brand new iPhone 5...why?

I bought my iPhone 5 yesterday from Meteor. I had a party to go to last night so I just left the phone to charge and backed up my ld one to iTunes. This morning I plugged the 5 into laptop to start transferring data across. Everything was ok, add to re-load apps. etc. but the norm. This afternoon I went to open the phone and the touch screen just doesnt work. I've tried the re-set - holding Home and the Power button a hundred times now, no joy. I've plugged it back into i Tunes, restored it again, no joy.
My head is melted because the guy in shop was trying to put me off it in case of any issues having to send the phone to Apple but I've had the iPhone for years and have had no problems with 3GS, 4, 4s, so I was eager to stay with it. PLease tell me this is a software fix.....please.

Joikuspot not working on brand new Nokia 808

I've just purchased a Nokia 808 from Singapora and tried using Joikuspot. Unfortunately for some reason it fails to start a connection. I've made sure that BOTH mobile data and wifi are on as well. When I start the program, it asks if I want to start a connection (to which I say yes), I choose AT&T Internet and wait. I can see the 3G internet icon start up, but the wifi icon (or transmitting icon) never appears and the message "Connection failed, Connection unavailable" appears up at the top.
I've tried reinstalling Joikuspot (well, I purchased the premium version actually), reinstalling the phone software (via Nokia Suite) and doing a factory reset with no success. Internet and other apps seem to work fine under 3G and wifi as well so I'm not sure what's going on. Any information regarding the matter would be extremely helpful. Thanks everyone.

Btw, I've also contacted the people at Joiku and what they've recommended (factory reset, checking certain settings) hasn't worked either. :-(

1) It doesn't matter where you get your Nokia 808 PureView from, ie it doesn't matter if it's a US, Singapore or Finnish variant.. If you are using that device on a network/carrier in the US, the device recognises this and is not going to allow you to make Ad-Hoc wlan connections, as per the regulations set out by the FCC.
2) I understand (this I am not certain on) that the FCC regulations came into force in 2011. Therefore for any device manufacturer since then, the device is not allowed to create Ad-Hoc networks otherwise the device manufacturer wouldn't get FCC approval.
3) The FCC restrictons are in this case technically talking about Ad-Hoc networks, not 'wifi direct' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wi-Fi_Direct) networks that are used for example in Lumia 610/710/800/900.
4) I understand the US Variants of Nokia 808 PureView do not have JoikuSpot preinstalled.
5) I understand that US customers are not able to purchase JoikuSpot from Nokia Store.
6) JoikuSoft should be aware of this as they are making the software to create the Ad-Hoc networks. I will find someone to talk to JoikuSoft, failing that I will do it myself. I noticed a post from 'greentoy' claiming "According to Joikusoft Support, It should work fine in US, but they didn't know for sure.". Greentoy, if you're reading this please post me the JoikuSoft contact you had so I can sort this out with them.
It goes without saying, if you have Nokia 808 PureView in the US, and are using JoikuSpot successfully, then I am happy for you and don't want to cause problems for you, but I suspect the FCC would be happy to tell you about their feelings..
Are there any other questions I should be aware of using JoikuSpot in the US before I try to get in touch with JoikuSoft?

Application not responding when brand new iPhone 4S is plugged in...

My iTunes (10.6.1) is not responding when I plug in my brand new iPhone 4S.
I am getting the little rainbow wheel of death and nothing work. Had to force quit about 20 times today.
Had to sync my Calendar, Mail and Contact via mobile me but need my apps!!! Please help. I have a Macbook with OS X (10.7.4).

We got a brand new iphone 5 from Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). We are living in Italy and we are trying to setup the FaceTime on brand new iphone 5 but to no avail. Is there a way to enable the FaceTime features?
Can Apple or the carrier are capable of doing it?

Unfortunately that device does not have FaceTime.

Proximity Sensor Not Working on Brand new Z2

Hi, The Proximity sensor is not working on my new Xperia Z2. I have ran all the tests on the phone and they have failed. When Put up to the ear during a call the screen does not switch off and all the icons get pressed etc. This is VERY annoying as i cant even speak to anyone for a minute before im dialing someone else by mistake. All Software is up to date. SONY, What the soslution here? I will be taking it into the Sony Center here tomorrow but I dont want to be without my only buisness phone for 3-4 days.

OK installed each update to the pre-installed apps one at a time and tested the proximity sensor after each. All fine till Sony TV Side view : quick remote. after instalation proximity sensor stopped working. after uninstall all working fine again.Seems this is the culprit but I will add my 3rd party apps one at a time just to make sure.

Spotlight is not working on brand new Mac mini

I got an issue with two brand new Mac minis running 10.7.3 (11D50d):
Spotlight is not working. I'm only getting the Wikipedia-Search.
Here's what I did:
Installation:
- took the stock Minis and set up two users, admin and user (limited account)
- updatet the System
- installed manually: Adobe Reader X, Office 2011, Firefox 12, Flip4Mac, Perian, Cyberduck, Google Earth 6.2 (the installer without the updater), VLC 2
- installed using AppStore: CalendarBar, TextWrangler, Unarchiever
- copied a few documents (Word and Excel files) from a PC to the Desktop
Troubleshooting:
- tried to restart Spotlight by adding the entire harddrive to privacy using »Spotlight« within the System Preferences
- that threw an error "no priviliges"
- started the System from the recovery system (on an USB-thumbdrive) and repaired permissions
- that did not help
- tried to restart Spotlight through the Terminal, running the command: sudo mdutil -E /
- that command returned: No index.
- the tried: sudo mdutil -i on /
- returned: Error: unable to perform operation. (-400) No index.
- went the hard way
- unloaded the daemon: sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.metadata.mds.plist
- erased the Spotlight folder: sudo rm -fr .Spotlight-V100/
- loaded the daemon: sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.metadata.mds.plist
That made everything work fine until I did a restart of the System. After the mini restarted I was back at square one...
Does anyone have an idea how to fix this issue?
Apple support suggested to reinstall the system. Something I can't do right now, as people need to work on those computers and cannot take a tow hour break...

TS4079 Siri is not working on my new iPhone 5s. It was working yesterday...

I bought a new iPhone two days ago. Siri was working fine. Now it is not. Any suggestions?

The voice recognition software ("Siri") seems buggy. I've been shutting down the phone and restarting. The VR then seems to work for a week or two and then it starts having the same problem you described. Another reboot brings back the VR. I really hope Apple has noted the problem and fixes it for the next iOS update.

ISight microphone not working on Brand New Leopard Install Solved

Hi everybody,
I had this problems during last days, and after solving it I want to share it with everybody thinking it may be helpful.
I got ten brand new never used iSights and I wanna to use them on a few MacPro Intel 2xCpu QuadCore 2,8 OS X 10.5.4 to 10.5.7 for videoconferencing using Skype and iChat.
With the video everything was fine but there was any solution to make the built-in iSight microphone works.
After a week googling and talking around I found by myself that the problems was the camera firmware.
Mac OS X 10.5.x doesn't update the iSight firmware so the audio mic doesn't work.
If you connect the camera to an old OS X (I used 10.4.11), open iChat and log in, it will ask you to update the iSight firmware to the latest version.
After that, if you unplug the camera and put it back to OS X 10.5.x the audio mic magically works.

Aperture 3 not working on brand new MBP???

Just tried to open Aperture 3 on my brand new MBP and I get this error message:
Dyld Error Message:
Library not loaded: /Library/Frameworks/PluginManager.framework/Versions/B/PluginManager
Referenced from: /Applications/Aperture.app/Contents/MacOS/Aperture
Reason: no suitable image found. Did find:
/Library/Frameworks/PluginManager.framework/Versions/B/PluginManager: no matching architecture in universal wrapper
I downloaded A3 from the Mac Store, I've deleted it and re-installed and still get the same message. My MBP is running 10.6.8.
Any ideas, hope you can help.

Hi, Thanks! The solution on the Macrumors forum worked! A plugin manager issue!
I've copied the solution below for anyone else who may run into the issue.
Turns out it's a simple fix.
For those with the same problem:
1. Navigate to: /Library/Frameworks/PluginManager.framework/Versions/B/PluginManager
2. Delete the PluginManager
3. Get a new copy of the PluginManager. (You can copy one from a friends macbook) or use the one hosted here: http://qvenon.com/files/PluginManager.zip

PPTP Not Working on Brand New WRT54G2 w/Newest Firmware

Subject of post says it all. Have a VPN connection that works perfectly through an old Linksys router. When I replaced it this weekend with the WRT54G2, all of a sudden the authentication portion of the VPN connection fails. Yes, I can telnet to the remote port 1723. Yes, I have the PPTP pass thru enabled. Yes, when I replace my new router with my old one, the VPN connection works perfectly.
So now I have a brand new router that I have to use as an access point in order to get to my VPN. What gives???

I did not try changing the MTU size, although I did see another post that talked about something like that. Seems like this should work straight out of the box though - never needed to adjust it on any other similar devices.
Definitely shouldn't need to do any port forwardinng since the traffic is being initiated from my side of the firewall.
I'm also surprised that something like this should be broken with all the experience Linksys has. But they also have a history of having problems with PPTP and this model appears to be very new - the firmware is like 1.0.01. My guess is that this feature didn't get tested properly - the same thing that happened on the original WRT54G. Should have known better than to buy this...

Speakers not working on brand new pavillion dv6. headphones work fine

I've just taken this Pavillion DV6 PC out of the box and the speakers are not working. Windows 7. Sound is fine when I plug headphones in.

Try using Recovery Manager to reinstall your Audio Driver ( probably IDT ) - the procedure for using recovery manager to reinstall Software and Drivers is detailed in the relevant document on the link below.
Recovery Manager - Windows 7
When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices. Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio through the speakers.
If you still have no sound, I would return the unit and get it replaced - you shouldn't have to be troubleshooting a brand new machine.
