HT1430 My iphone 3GS is unusable as it has a permanent "no service" message.

By searching the net it seems that loads of people are having trouble with their iphones giving a "no service" message and being useless.
How is this the customers problem?
Why aren't apple putting up fixes to this problem?
It is the phone that's not working, not the sim, that's fine in my other phone.
Come on apple what's your solution?

You aren't talking to Apple here.  Read the forum Terms of Use.  Apple isn't reading these posts.
The "solution" depends on what the problem is.  NO SERVICE can be caused by several completely different issues.
Since your post contains absolutely no useful info about your phone and circumstances, and you appear to want only to whine, there is no way to determine your solution.  If you search you'll find many threads where the problem was solved.

my iphone 3gs turned off and on abruptly?

Try holding down the Sleep/Wake button and Home button at the same time,
Continue to hold both down until you see the Apple Logo on the screen. Once you see the Apple Logo on the screen let go of both buttons and allow the iPhone to reset.
    Hope this helps

  • Only receiving repeat entries in iCal on iPhone 3GS v5.1.1 since iMac went down for service

Yesterday I took my iMac in for service.  Today I was checkingl entries in iCal in my iPhone 3GS v5.1.1 and all entries were missing except those that were Repeat entries.  I tried to go to iCloud to check iCal but iCloud didn't recognize my account and password and said I had to creat a new account.
    What is up?

I had this same exact issue while traveling in Italy and France (I returned yesterday 17-October).
Before leaving, I verified by phone w/At&T that I had all necessary features to use my phone overseas. They said yes I did have all necessary features to use my phone overseas. They did offer me their AT&T World Traveler plan for $5.99/month but I declined since I would not use this feature enough to justify the monthly cost. They said my phone would still work overseas, but my per minute usage rate would be slightly higher. ...HOWEVER, I could not connect with any of the available networks while overseas (same results/messages as you).
I just spoke w/At&T again. Now they say I did not have the necessary feature to use my phone overseas. This is what I found out:
    1. You can sign up online for the World Traveler $5.99/month plan. This will allow you to use your phone overseas.
    2. If you do not want the $5.99/month plan, you need to have the Expanded International Roaming feature activated on your phone. If it is activated, you will see it on your online account under "International Features". Be aware, the rates will be higher for all services (I believe they told to make sure "Data Roaming" is turned off, otherwise I will be charged $20.00/minute for internet access")
    3. If you have had your phone less than 90 days, and you want to activate Expanded International Roaming, you must call AT&T and ask to speak with International customer service. According to my recent phone call with AT&T, this is the only department that can activate the services (@ less than 90 days).
I'm still not confident this issue is resolved, but I will find out next time I travel outside the United States.

I have an iPhone 3gs and today it started just vibrating instead of ringing and vibrating. It also has no sound what so ever. None of the apps or games have sound and I was wondering if anyone has any clue as to what could have caused this and how I can fix it.

  • IPhone 3GS MMS works when sent through Photos app but not Messages app?

I recently got the iPhone 3G S 3.1 update, but for some reason when I send MMS through the camera button on the Messages screen it doesn't send. The "Sending" bar would go almost to the end and then stop for about 5 - 10 seconds, and then it reaches the end, but it doesn't send when I did a test with two of my friends. Though, when I click the "MMS" button on the photos app, it does send. I don't get why MMS doesn't work in the Messages app when it does in the Photos app, can you guys help me figure out the problem and how to fix it?
    Thanks.

  • Snychronization from iPhone 3GS to iTunes software

Summary: I transitioned from an old laptop (iTunes 9.1.1.12) to a new laptop (iTunes 9.1.1.12). Per Apple's backup instructions, I successfully backed up the iTunes library on the old laptop to cd-rom and imported the cd-rom to the iTunes software on the new laptop.
During my transition, I experienced the following challenges.
    1. My iPhone 3GS (software 3.1.3) has songs and one video. Within iTunes on my new laptop, my iPhone 3GS successfully appears under the devices. Under the Movies tab, I select the checkbox to Sync Movies. The prompt appears, "Are you sure you want to sync movies? All existing movies on the iPhone will be replaced with movies from your iTunes library."
Under Devices, there is the Movies tab: There are no movies currently residing in my iTunes library on my new laptop. Therefore, further action to synchronize will erase the video on my iPhone 3GS! Yikes!
Under Devices, there is the Music tab and Photos tab: Similar prompts appear for music and photo synchronization! Yikes!
What should I perform to avoid this dilemma?
    2. My iPhone 3GS (software 3.1.3) does not automatically synchronize when I attached the data cable on my new laptop. On the old laptop, synchronization was automatic when I attached the data cable.
What should I perform to see automatic synchronization?
    3. Under Devices, there is the Apps tab: All the application icons are gray! I recall that I could see application icons in full color and rearrange them in iTunes on my old laptop.
What should I perform to see the application icons in iTunes on my new laptop?
    Thank you for your support!

  • IPhone 3gs wont turn back on once it goes into sleep mode!

2 days ago my iPhone 3gs (OS 6.0.1) has gone completely wacko on me and i'm completely frustrated!   I have my phone set to have the screen shut off after 5 minutes.  Usually, to just reaccess the phone I just simply hit the home button.  Now, if I let it go into sleep mode, the phone WILL NOT come back on!  I went online and did some research, and it suggested holding the home button and the sleep button for 10 seconds to get it to come back on.  It works most times, but sometimes it takes a few tries to get it to come back on, and when it does come back on it takes forever to load up.  But the whole thing happens all over again when it goes into sleep mode.  My phone is fine as long as I set it to never go into sleep mode, but it is killing my battery.  I need to be able to put it into sleep mode as I have to be able to go all day without charging it at my job.  PLEASE help...I don't know what's going on with it.  I have never done anything to it (jailbreaking, illegal stuff, etc.) and I do all the updates that it asks to do.
    Please please help!
    Jennifer.

If you actually see a "6" error code, here's what it means.  Disable your anti-virus and/or firewall.
Errors related to third-party security software
    Error 2, 4 (or -4), 6, 1000, 9006
Follow Troubleshooting security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
There may be third-party software that modifies your default packet size in Windows by inserting a TcpWindowSize entry into your registry. Your default packet size being set incorrectly can cause these errors. Contact the manufacturer of the software that installed the packet size modification for assistance or follow this article by Microsoft: How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
Verify that access to ports 80 and 443 are allowed on your network.
Verify that communication to albert.apple.com or photos.apple.com is not blocked by a firewall, or other Internet security setting.
Discard the .ipsw file, open iTunes and attempt to download the update again. See the steps underAdvanced Steps > Rename, move, or delete the iOS software file (.ipsw) below for file locations.
Restore your device while connected to a different network.
    Restore using a different computer.
