With the information provided, I can only guess. My guess is hardware problems, either bad motherboard or RAM.
You tried running the Apple Hardware Test from the install DVD for you Mac.

Did you check the USB cable or try another one?
Did you check the docking port for any kind of debris or lint?
Did you already try to reset your device by holding the sleep and home button until the Apple logo comes back again?

There is no 'earlier' version that supports XP. iCloud launched with Vista/7 support only.

If no success you will have to bring the MBP in for repair. Note that genius bar technicians are trained by Apple, thus your chance for a correct diagnosis and repair is better there than at an non Apple place.

This is a general comment, not directed to anyone, and not to be taken personally by anyone. This ongoing screw up with the new upgrade (5.0.1) is getting to be a **** SHAME. In no way can APPLE or anyone else for that matter not know by now that the upgrade is terribly flawed. The Ipod machines themselves are super great products, and I enjoy mine to the max. However the upgrade once applied ruins it. And at least, not to my current knowledge, there haven't been any fixes forcoming.
In my opinion Apple should own up to that fact and warn folks that, even though the upgrade was presented with the best intentions, IT JUST AIN"T WORKING. And not to download it until further notice. This noticication could be done through the retail sales outlet, online, what ever.
I liken this to a pharmaceutical coming out with a new vaccine, encourage everyone to use it, then discover it's bad to the degree it causes it uses to become sick. Rather then pull the vaccine they keep on allowing unsuspecting ones to continue to vaccinate, and become sick. What a shame!

You're welcome! I feel your pain - both "closest" Apple Stores to me are almost 2 hours away. When I called for another problem under warranty the AppleCare guy checked my zip code and found an AASP (Authorized Apple Service Provider) 20 minutes from me I had no idea existed. They diagnosed the problem (bad bluetooth keyboard) and ordered a new one for me. The AppleCare person will probably use this http://www.apple.com/buy/locator/service/ so you can check it now. And AppleCare could well diagnose your problem over the phone anyway. And I feel certain it wasn't something you did inadvertently.

I have a new iphone 4 with the latest update so far ,, but I found that it keeps turning on and off itself with no action from my side after I put it in standby mode. !!
this happens only with Battery mode, but if I connect it to the charger it is working normal.
please do your best to help me on this bug.

since like a month it wouldnt turn on but then i looked on iternet and i moved the battery or something and then wheni was moving it, something smelled to burn in the phone, i closed it up and now it turns on and off lthough it has 100% of battery

well if anything since you opened it your warranty is void so apple might be able to fix it but you will need to pay $149 to have that done
