Have you done a Disk Repair and a Disk Permissions Repair?
If that doesn't resolve the problem I would suggest calling customer support about this issue as it is most likely on their (Apple's) end that the problem exists.

As a first attempt, try a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons untl the apple logo appears and it restarts, ignoring the red slider if that appears.

Please note it did say at the store's discretion, but people have actually been able to return it to the on-line store. (I only saw a couple who tried.)
And given the outcry, I would think Apple might have other Apple stores join in. Just in case, though, if you can, you might bring it in today.
If it's an ARS, my guess is they can stick to their 14 day return. Apple cannot force them to do it. SO if it's not bought directly from Apple, and it's past the 14 day deal, I'd bring it in to the store today if you have one. When I gave people the cnet.com site, I gave it so people could read it and know only Apple had made the decision for Apple. And I suggested to some that an Apple reseller would probably stick with their own return policy.
Because Arnie had just bought his, he should be able to return it to Apple or an ARS because an ARS has to have some kind of full refund or at least return for credit within 7 or 14 days of purchase.

A reset may help. Tap and hold the Home button and the On/Off button at the same time for approximately 10-15 seconds, until the Apple logo reappears. When the logo appears, release both buttons and await restart. No content will be affected.

You will need to connect the iPad to the computer that you normally sync to and you should then be able to reset the iPad and restore/re-sync your content to it (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212) - you may need to put the iPad into recovery mode in order to reset it : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
If you do it via a different computer then :
If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.

You have encounter Activation Lock, the antitheft feature of the iPhone. The previous owner did not remove the phone from their account. The phone cannot be used until they do. i have noticed that with some containers , when i play fast a video LLLL in short i use the jog shuttle controls i got an high cpu consume %70 or even %80
for example this mp4 video
Codec: H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part 10) (avc1)
Resolution: 1280x688
Frame rate: 23.976023
audio Codec: MPEG AAC Audio (mp4a)
with others containers i have such issue

I have searched all over the web too to find any solutions regarding the unavoidable problem of Macs with Adobe's Flash Player. There are little improvements of reducing the high CPU during Flash use on a Mac through changing your main browser to Opera, Camino ... BUT it is still a problem which cannot be solved for now. How do I get the sldies back into the navigator so I can see them. Oddly, they are show up just find on the light table.

Try removing any transitions or builds on these slides, or delete the slides then recreate them as fresh slides.
There are many playback anomalies in Keynote 6 which Apple have said they will be sorting out next year.

I have tried to start up from the installation CD holding down the C key on the keyboard. Same result. I have tried different key combinations while starting up. No result or rather same result. Nothing. Is the computer suddenly dead?
I was about to buy a new computer but I need access to my data on this one (I write this on an iPad) but hven't yet found a way.
Anybody have any good advice?
I thought it was a software problem, that the computer couldn't find the startup software or something and maybe it is, but I am beginning to fear that it could be a hardware problem.

You need to re install OSX. If you have the dmg file downloaded via torrentz this is how you can create a bootable external HD or Flash drive (8 GB+)

Launch iTunes. From the menu bar click Store / View My Account
Click: Edit Payment Information
Make sure you have the correct Security Code.
Then click: Done
