Hey zerrodactyl,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
If your battery doesn't charge, or if your device shows a low-battery image, black screen, or "accessory not supported" alert, follow these steps.
iPhone and iPod touch: Charging the battery
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1476
Inspect the connector at the bottom of the phone:
Make sure that there are no bent pins in the connector.
Make sure that the connector is free from debris.
If there are bent pins or debris, please contact Apple Support.
Otherwise, continue troubleshooting.
Make sure that the outlet you're using works.
Make sure that the Apple USB cable and Apple USB power adapter work.
Plug the device in to power and let it charge for up to 30 minutes. If you don't have an Apple USB power adapter, try connecting to a computer's high-power USB 2.0 port (not a keyboard). The computer must be on.
If the device still exhibits an issue, try turning your device off and then on again while connected to power.
If the issue is persists, please contact Apple Support.
Have a nice day,
Mario

  • IPod Classic not charging after sync

When I plug my iPod Classic into my computer, it syncs up normally with iTunes, and the battery icon gives a "charging" indication. But when it finishes the sync and says "OK to disconnect", the icon stops showing the charging symbol, and the iPod stops charging itself. It only shows the charging icon for the few seconds while it's actually on the "Connected to iPod" screen and syncing up. The battery is now almost dead and I am at my wits' end. It only started doing this recently, I suspect due to some update or another. Help?

I've just had the same problem and couldn't find any answers. You may have found this out by now but thankfully you can still charge the iPod at least...
Open iTunes and click on preferences (either from the small box in top left, or under edit); click on devices; make sure "Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically" is ticked; Click OK.
Now when you plug in your iPod the "Connected - Eject before disconnecting" screen should remain and it should charge. Then do any syncs after it's fully charged.

  • My Ipod Classic wont charge or turn on. Ive never had a problem with it before this.

  • Ipod touch 4g wont charge after I dropped it in toilet?

I dropped my ipod touch 4th gen in the toilet, it was there for around 4 secs then I took it out and I removed the case. I tried using hair dryer and it was working perfectly fine only a bit damage on the lcd so I thought everything was ok but this morning I tried charging it, I left it for a few minutes and then I came back but it was dead, I tried charging it with a different cable and then the charging icon with red battery showed up for a few secs, then the apple logo, and then it went back to dead. then a few seconds later the red battery+charging icon show up again, the apple logo, and then dead again. now I put it in a bag of rice because I dont know what to do I know it's too late, what should I do? huhuhuhu so many important things in this ipod. please help

I would not have used the hair dryer: gets to hot! It maybe to late for this but give it try, if it works your only out a couple bucks. Keep the iPod off, do not attempt to charge or use until the iPod is completely dry. Place the iPod in a sealed bag of uncooked rice for at least a week. Change the rice daily. Then after drying, attempt to turn on your iPod, may need to charge it for an hour. If it works then your in business, check all functions and make sure all is well. If still nothing attempt to reset. If still nothing, contact Apple about replacing your iPod out of warranty for a refurbished iPod. The only question I have is just what are people doing with there iPod's in the toilet in the first place? It's about 20 to 1 dropped iPod in toilet vs bathtub, I'm not judging, just don't get it.

  • IPod classic quits charging after ejecting from iTunes

Running Windows 8.1, more of a recent problem I noticed.  I'm guessing the solution has to do with going into device manager, but not sure what the fix is.  Any help??  Thank you for your time.

It turns out I am having the same problem, and I am also using Windows 8.1. I'm pretty sure that I haven't plugged in my iPod since the update. At first my laptop wasn't recognizing that my iPod was plugged in at all, and after I uninstalled the driver then reinstalled it, it started working again. My best idea for a solution right now is to put the iPod into Disk Mode, because it seems to be charging that way. But maybe Apple could check on a driver update, or what ever it is that is causing the problem.

  • Why does my ipod classic stop playing after a few songs?

why does my ipod classic stop playing after just a few songs?

is your battery charged?  How many songs do you have on the playlist (if you are playing a  playlist when it stops)?   I know that when the earbud wires are accidentally disconnected from the ipod body, the music stops automatically.

  • My ipod touch wont charge nor will the computer recognize it as an ipod

my iPod touch wont charge when connected to my lab top but it isnt the usb cord or port because it works for a different iPod and my computer wont recognize my ipod.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

my ipod shuffle wont charge the orange light just
    blinked (front light)
    when plugged in, for hours
While the orange light blinks it'll NEVER turn
green UNLESS whatever is causing the light to blink
(access by iTunes, used as data storage drive, ...)
stops. IF you EJECT or UNmount or "safely remove
hardware", it might display a solid orange...
i upgraded the software and reset the ipod
now when plugged in no light ??
NO light? That means it's not receiving power from
    the USB port.
it is 2 years old, is the shuffle battery dead ?
It may very be. What happens when you press the
battery status button on the back? Does the LED show
    anything?
it still shows up in itunes and transfers music
    etc.
Yeah, but what good is it if it won't play when
    disconnected?
first thing this morning (after a overnight rest)
    i got a red light
when i press the back light now
    i get nothing,

  • I have the ipod touch 5 generation. As I try to charge my ipod it wont charge unless it is laying down and can not be straight up

i have the ipod touch 5 generation. As I try to charge my ipod it wont charge unless it is laying down and can not be straight up. does anyone have a idea on what i can do????

    - See:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

My old ipod classic will charge when I plug it it in but my computer will no longer recognize that it is plugged in and Itunes will not pop up.  Is it time to retire this 5 year old classic?

    Hello, a.higgins.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Here are some troubleshooting steps in the article below that I would recommend going through.

Pls help me my ipod nano wont charge even if i use other laptop or pc . The battery notification tells its full charge but when i remove my ipod its still not charged

Is it not charging at all? Did you try to reset? If YES to both, request for a replacement of the ipod. Battery or the unit itself is defective. Cheers!

  • IPod Classic 120Gb restarts after syncing?

    Hi,
When I sync and then eject my iPod classic 120Gb, immediately after rejecting (after the progress bar has gone all the way to the right) the iPod reboots...
This seems harmless, I'm having no other problems, I'm sure this isn't supposed to happen, right?
    Any ideas, anyone?
    TIA
    Kevin Pitkin

I forgot to add that usually after I get some songs to sync then I try syncing again, it will end up erasing everything off the iPod and I have to start over.

  • The songs on my Ipod Classic wont play at all although you can feel and hear the machinery working hard. The tracks are not playng at all but you can see the Ipod rewinding them all and returning to the album. And this happens to the second IPOD I have!

The songs on my Ipod Classic wont play at all although you can feel and hear the machinery working hard. The tracks are not playng at all but you can see the Ipod rewinding them all and returning to the album. And this happens to the second IPOD I just got!

First off, I would STRONGLY suggest that a external hard drive would make you life much easier by at least being able to back up your songs on the external drive for when you need them. Even if you don't want them in the iTunes library, you can have them all ready on the external to be re-added as needed. You can get 100's of gigs for under $100 shipped.
Anyway, since you used Yamipod, are all the songs back on the computer? If so, I would go ahead and restore the iPod, let iTunes then resync everything back to the iPod, then switch it back to manual and see if the restore and resync clears up the issue.
