HT1444 how do i upgrade my Mac OS on my MacBook Pro

I have MacBook Pro with Mac OS 10.6.8. I want to install iBook Author software but when I try to install, I get error message stating that I need Mac OS X 10.7.4 or later to able to install this application. There seem to be no software updates available from menu. Could anyone tell me how I can obtain Mac OS X 10.7.4 or later? Thank you.

How do I get my Mac OS 10.7 macbook pro connected to my already-functioning Brother HL-5370DW printer?

We recently purchased both a new Brother HL-5370DW (wireless) printer and a 15 inch macbook pro with OS X v.10.7. I got the printer set up using the CD-ROM's setup assistant, my older mac and our time capsule and it works great from there - no problems connecting or printing. However, now that we are trying to add the new mac, we can't figure out how to get them to talk to each other. When we try to run the setup assistant from the CD-ROM, we get an error message saying that PowerPC applications are no longer supported. We thought maybe that was related to it being a flash-based assistant, so we installed flash, but that made no difference. We downloaded the latest printer drivers from Brother and installed them, but still no dice. Any thoughts? My husband is convinced that the problem must lie in the time capsule and he wants to do a factory reset of that. I think that is nuts because if it was the time capsule, why would the older computer still work fine printing through it? Help!

When OS 10.6 came out, I found out that I couldn't upgrade to it because of my graphic card. In the technical specifications it is mentioned that :

requires one of the following graphics cards or graphics processors:
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M, GeForce 9600M GT, GeForce 8600M GT, GeForce GT 120, GeForce GT 130, GeForce GTX 285, GeForce 8800 GT, GeForce 8800 GS, Quadro FX 4800, Quadro FX5600

Now, OS 10.5.8 is becoming more and more outdated. I would like to know how can I upgrade my Mac Pro ? What kind of graphic card can I put in ?

It's been a while since I've used it but I installed Snow Leopard on my old Mac Pro 1,1 with the 7300GT and it worked. OpenCL may not have but the rest of it did. I don't think what you've quoted says you can't upgrade but only that an upgrade won't deliver all of the features in Snow Leopard. Indeed, I was able to move the HD in the 1,1 Mac Pro into the 5,1 Mac Pro, boot from it (10.6.4 is the minimum the 2010 Mac Pro will boot with), clone it and then updated it.

No. You cannot download Snow Leopard. You can only download an updater for Snow Leopard after it's been installed. You need to purchase the DVD to make that first installation of Snow Leopard.
