I need to Upgrade to Snow leopard OS X from Leopard OS X, can i downlaod it from the Mac App Store, if so how do I do it?

Ah yes.  South Africa.   I checked the international listings for you but there seems to be no direct Apple support in South Africa.   I cannot imagine why since the political restraints for countries like Iran are not those of South Africa.
I understand that Apple United States do not ship orders outside of the USA.
You may have to contact Apple Head Office.

Check that your computer is compatible with Mountain Lion.
To check the model number hold down the option/alt key, go to the Apple menu and select System Information.
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) model number 5,1 or higher
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) model number 3,1 or higher
    Your Mac needs:
OS X v10.6.8 or OS X Lion already installed
2 GB or more of memory (More is better - 4 GB minimum seems to be the consensus)
8 GB or more of available space
If your computer isn't compatible, you might be able to upgrade to Lion.

Check to make sure your applications are compatible. PowerPC applications are no longer supported.

You can also check which applications are PowerPC by going to the  menu, select About this Mac, click on More info…, then click System Report and select Software/Applications.

10.9 is free, so you could upgrade to that if you wished
if that's not an option for software compatibility reasons, you'd either need to re-install it from the original disks (that came with the computer, or a seperate iLife disc), a backup, or purchase a boxed version from someplace like eBay or Amazon (Amazon has iLife '11 for $39)

  • Do i need to download snow leopard to Buy a program from the apps store?

There is a image editing program that I am trying to purchase, but in order to, I have to purchase it now from the Mac Apps Store. It seems I don't have the Apps store And I heard that I needed Snow leopard (10.6.6?) in order to have access to the Apps Store. I currently have 10.5.8..So is this the problem? Would I need to buy Snow leopard? And when I do, Does it just download onto my computer or do I actually have to send out for a disc ? Any feedback would be appreciated.. THANKS!!

Would I need to buy Snow leopard?
You need it to get the Mac App Store. If you haven't already, check the manufacturer's website or the online Apple Store from the link above for that program.
And when I do, Does it just download onto my computer or do I actually have to send out for a disc ?
You need to get it on DVD.

  • I am running iPhoto 6.0.6.  If I purchase the upgrade to iPhoto 9.0 for $14.95 from the app store, will I be able to make the upgrade jump directly from 6.0.6 to 9.0?

I am running iPhoto 6.0.6.  If I purchase the upgrade to iPhoto 9.0 for $14.95 from the app store, will I be able to upgrade directly from 6.0.6 to 9.0 without purchasing any other versions in between?

It seems the App Store doesn't offer iPhoto 9.0 for download.  I presume purchasing iPhoto '11 (v.9.4.2) for $14.99 isn't going to work...because I know the most advanced version my system can handle is 9.2.3.  I'm secretly hoping that if I go for the upgrade to 9.4.2, it'll take me as far as 9.2.3 and just leave me running that version.  But, my hunch is the more likely scenario will be that the upgrade/installation will not be completed/fail.
Can you please just confirm that my hunch (as opposed to my "hope") is correct?
    Thanks!

  • TS4185 I have downloaded facetime from the App store and I keep receiving this message - An internal FaceTime error occurred.  There was a problem with FaceTime. You need to quit and open FaceTime again.  Please help!

I have downloaded facetime from the App store and I keep receiving this message - An internal FaceTime error occurred.  There was a problem with FaceTime. You need to quit and open FaceTime again.  Please help!

This error message could result from an incorrect setting for date and time, or an operating system which does not have the latest updates installed.  It's a good idea to have your location setting on automatic.  Turn on the wi fi in your mac for a minute or so, to allow it to automatically search for your present location.  Do this even though you have the correct time Date settings displayed.

  • I need an upgrade to iphoto, but it wasn't purchased at the apps store

Do I need to start over with a new download of Iphoto 11 if it wasn't purchased from the apps store.  Do I save any money from an upgrade as opposed to buying a new license from the app store

    Hi ...
If you installed iPhoto as part of the iLife bundled software, no.
By the way, any updates from iLife bundled software, iPhoto, GarageBand, and iMovie are not downloaded from the App Store.
Open System Preferences > Software Update  then select the Scheduled Check tab.
You can check for updates by clicking Check Now
If you want updates to download automatically, click the pop up menu to select how often you want Software Update to check for updates. (I use Daily) and select:  Download updates automatically. You will be notified when the updates are ready to be installed.

  • HT1338 I just updated my system to 10.6.8.  New computer just out of the box, but I wanted to download Numbers from the App store and it says I need 10.7.4.  How do I get this update?

I have a new IMac, purchased from my Dad that he never used.  I just did the latest update to 10.6.8.  I wanted to get "Numbers" on the computer from the App Store but it says I need 10.7.4.   How do I get this?  Everytime I try update it goes to 10.6.8.  I am new to Apple and struggling a bit.

Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu and check the processor.
If it's a Core Duo Mac, you must install the DVD version of iWork. If you previously got a compatible version of Numbers from the Mac App Store, go to its home page and click on Support under Quick Links.
If it's a Core 2 Duo or better Mac, try purchasing Mac OS X 10.8 from the Mac App Store. If you get told that it's incompatible, phone the online Apple Store and order a download code for 10.7.
If upgrading to 10.7 or 10.8 requires any other upgrades or replacements(they both require at least 2GB RAM and don't support PowerPC-only software such as Office 2004), it may be cheaper to buy and install the DVD version of iWork even if your computer can be upgraded to use the Mac App Store version.

  • How can I upgrade from an older OSX to Lion, I do have the requisite processor.  I did not have Snow Leopard, so I do not have the App Store.

The people at the Apple Store told me to wait on an upgrade to Snow Leopard because Lion was coming out soon.   However, without Snow Leopard, I can not get the App Store.
I have OSX 10.58 and a processor big enough to support Lion.

So you need to upgrade to Snow Leoapard first so you can access the Mac App Store in order to download Lion.
Snow Leoapard is available from the online store >  http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A?mco=MTY3ODQ5OTY
Lion requires an Intel-based Mac with a Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 or Xeon processor and 2GB of RAM.

  • I just downloaded iphoto from the app store and now it tells me I have an update but it tells me I need to sign on to the user name I used when I purchased the upgrade. I am in the correct username. Whats wrong?

I just downloaded iPhoto upgrade for my Macbook. I just bought Lion and wanted to upgrade my iLife suite. I downloaded this and it works great. I looked the other day at the App Store and saw it said upgrade beside iPhoto. I clicked it and it told me to sign in as the username I bought the upgrade from. I am in the correct log in.
Also I have Lion and it is amazing but it says download beside it. I have Lion and I don't need to download it again. I click it and it reinstalls it to my computer just to tell me that it cannot be installed. Whats up with these situations?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities,
I had a similar issue and it was an easy fix for me. First you need to log out of your account completely in the Mac App Store. Quit the application. Re-open the Mac App Store. Click log-in, enter your Apple-ID and password. Now when the screen pops-up that has all of your billing/credit card information on it DO NOT select done. Instead select View my Account, then select View hidden purchases. There you should be able to find iPhoto. Hope this helps if not let me know. I'm still searching solutions for you.

  • Do you need a sim card for the iPad 3G and when I try to download something from the app store my screen has a black box appear is that normal and why is this happening?

My app store does not let me download things , when I sghn in a black box appers , also does a iPad 1 3G need a sim card to download apps ?

You posted in the iPod Shuffle forum; it might be best to post in the iPad forum, as I was a bit confused at first. Anyway,
It doesn't need a SIM to download apps if you have Wi-Fi. Can you describe this box a little more, or better yet, screenshot it?
    Taking a Screenshot:
Quickly press then release the home and power buttons at the same time.
Get the photo on your computer and upload it here.
If you don't want to do this, can you describe it a little more? When you say "black box," I'm guessing it's an outlined box that appears around any item that you tap on. Is this correct? If so, it sounds like VoiceOver was enabled. See:
    Turning VoiceOver On or Off

  • I am still running OS X snow leopard can my mac book handle the jump to yosemite

I have not updated the OS X because I was comfortable with the set up and honestly too lazy to figure out the quirks of a new system.I am running Snow Leopard 10.6.8   Now my safari browser is completely out of date and I can't view any web pages.  Can my mac book pro 2 GHz Intel Core i7 with 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 handle the upgrade to OS X yosemite? Or will this just completely slow down the computer?

    Upgrading to Yosemite
You can upgrade to Yosemite from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Yosemite can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for FREE.
    Upgrading to Yosemite
To upgrade to Yosemite you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Download Yosemite from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Yosemite is free. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
        OS X Mavericks/Yosemite - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Yosemite
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later

             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
