How can I delete trash mail?

I have two trash folders with different icons. The trash folder with a garbage bin as an icon has a Delete All function but the other trash folder does not. When I delete messages they go into the second trash folder. I then have to delete them one at a time. Then they pear in the trash folder with the garbage icon. Then I can use the Delete All button to remove. But it is a long complicated process.

  • How do i delete all my contacts in mail address book

how so i delete all my contacts in mail address book, i have 1,042,000 blank contacts.

In Lion, the user's LIBRARY folder is hidden. So, it's not visible automatically.
    Open Finder.
At the menu items at the top of your screen, click on GO (where you see Finder, File, Edit, View, Go, Help)
Next within the GO options, select the 'Go to Folder' option. You will see a window open to enter text.
Enter ~/Library and click the GO button.
Now you'll be in your user LIBRARY where you need to be to get to your address book file previously mentioned.
You want to open the Application Support folder then from inside there open the AddressBook folder. Then you can follow Barney's instructions.

  • Deleting  trash bin

I was wondering if there is an easy way to empty or delete the trash folder in the emails folder.. The only way I have been able to do this is one at a time.  I feel it is slowing down my phone.
    Thanks

I doubt it is slowing your phone because of the trash folder in your email.
The only way to delete trash is one at a time on the phone itself. If you do not delete the messages and get on a computer to delete your messages they will vanish from your phone without going to the trash.

  • Where can i find the trash bin for my mail?

Where is my trash bin to delete my mail?

Generally speaking it's at the bottom center of the full email message display.
Typically, folks who do not have a trash bin there have archiving set on.  Look at Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > [your email account] and turn "Archive Messages" to "Off".

You should be able to delete an email account from the iPad by selecting it on the right-hand side of Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars and then tapping the Delete Account button on the popup, and there should also be an Add Account button on the right-hand side of that Settings screen

  • IPhone 3GS Trash Bin Icon in Mail not working after update to 3.1

Has anyone encountered the same problem that the Trash Bin icon inside the Mail apps no longer works since after (in seems) the update to 3.1?

No, I haven't noticed. Mine works fine.
All I can suggest is the standard troubleshooting steps in order.
Restart your phone: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until a red slider appears, and then drag the slider. Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset your phone: Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    Restore your phone: Restore: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414

I have a serial number on my iPod.
Whether Apple can delete my data (notes, e-mails, photos) from my iPod and lock it?

Unless you turned on Find My under Settings > iCloud there is nothing more that anyone here or at Apple can do to help.

  • How do I delete/trash an Application (package)?

I am the administrator of a stand alone Mac and I need to remove a couple of apps from my hard drive completely. If I send one to the trash it re-appears in the Applications folder immediately, never showing up in the Trash folder. How do I get rid of these apps?
    TIA
    Jim

If the apps came w/an uninstaller, then use it. Better yet, download this neat little shareware app demo called AppZapper. It basically does all the work for you by not only trashing the apps but the apps preference files, caches & all its associated files.
Another software that does the above is AppDelete. Best of all this software is free!

Open the Script Editor or AppleScript Editor in one of the subfolders of Applications and run the following:
    tell application "Finder" to quit
if (do shell script "defaults read com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles") is "1" then
do shell script "defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles 0"
    else
do shell script "defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles 1"
    end if
    delay 2
    tell application "Finder" to run
If you change your mind later, run the script again.

  • How do I delete 88,000 emails on Mail

I use the email from my COX Internet provider account on Safari and only once in awhile the MAIL application opens up because, for example, I am sending the link to a Web page to someone. For whatever reason, if I do end up opening MAIL, it takes a long time to open all my various mail account on COX, GMAIL, YAHOO, and download new and old emails.   I see that on, one COX account alone, there are 88,000 messages, mostly unread.  I tried to sort via incoming date and deleting them using select shift to highlight pages of the messages and hitting delete. Even if that works, I see that it will take unacceptable amounts of my time and I might even then have to empty the TRASH on Safari to finally get rid of all of them. That takes more hours when the computer, not me, will be working.
Anyway, looking at various support pages I've not found out how to delete either all, or most of the old emails on MAIL and still have them on my accounts in the IP Cox mail, gmail and yahoo.  The INBOXES on those are not close to being as bad as the situation on the MAIL app. MAIL seems to have emails back to when I bought the computer.  Maybe if I straighten it out, I might find MAIL more useful.
Of course, I suppose I could just leave the MAIL inbox full of 88,000 since it does not seem to do any harm, except to make me not want to use MAIL.
Preferably, it would be nice to clean up the application, but I do not know how.

    Hi Donald,
click on "Mailbox" then "Restore" (the very last option in the dropdown menu). Mail will empty the inbox (ALL MESSAGES WILL BE DELETED FROM YOUR INBOX) and will try to reload all the messages right from the mail server(s). If you want to keep the inbox empty simply disconnect your computer from the Internet before clicking "Restore" and change the account settings so that Mail doesn't check your accounts on startup and/or automatically (you'll find that in the account settings).
I hope, this is the solution you were looking for.

  • How do I delete an infected piece of mail in my mac mailbox?

I have bitdefender for mac and it has found tp pieces of mail in my saved mail boxes and it won't let me delete it. It says I don't have permission to delete or move this mail. I have reindexed the box but it did not work.
    any suggestions?
    thanks
    Liza

I've never heard of bitdefender, and I'm familiar with most of the major AV programs available for the Mac.  There's gotta be a reason for that.  You should read my Mac Malware Guide, and if you still want AV software, you may want to consider getting something else, like the free and excellent ClamXav.
Regarding the mail, it's fairly common to find messages with Windows malware attached in the Junk or Trash mailboxes.  That kind of spam arrives all the time.  It can't hurt you, though, and I've never yet heard of any Mac malware being delivered via e-mail.  To get rid of it, find the affected messages in Mail, delete them and then empty the trash.  I don't know how bitdefender works, but in ClamXav, you can get information about malware that has been found, like where the file is.  If you can do that, find the message file (which should end in .emlx), double-click it to open the message in Mail (don't worry, opening a message with a malware attachment in Mail is not dangerous) and delete it.
(Note that my pages contain links to other pages that promote my services, and this should not be taken as an endorsement of my services by Apple.)

  • How can I delete ALL of my junk mail at the same time?

    Hello I need some help!
I could not check my e-mail for a week and now I have nearly 600 junk mail on my mail box.
I am too busy to delete the junk mail one by one.
Mac wizard, please tell me how to delete all the junk mail at once!

Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup),  it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move this folder & file to the Desktop.
Move this Folder to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/
Move this file to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
    Reboot.
If that doesn't do it and you can afford to redo all your Rules, try these & reboot...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist.backup
Note, in 10.5 & up /Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/ may or may not exist.
