HT1449 iTunes files - didn't copied all after moving to new HDD.

I have a 2nd HDD and running out of space on the first one. So I followed instructions and organized but it didn't copied all the files to the new location. Missing many different files; books, songs, apps, etc. What do I need to do? Did this twice.

Attempted to uninstall Quicktime. The uninstall will not finish, saying it encountered a fatal error. Quicktime will not run, either.
when a QuickTime uninstall throws that message at folks, it's usually best to try completely scraping the itunes and QuickTime program files and installation configuration information from the PC, and doing a careful staged reinstall afterwards.
try the technique in the following post. (it includes instructions on what to do if Add/Remove isn't letting you uninstall one of the programs.)

ipad apps 1 I lost all after I installed new windows and I tried to connect it between your computer and iPad, what's the solution? (Please Inbox : [email protected]) Thanks

    Hi,
Sounds like it isn't to serious. the Bluetooth connection had an error and that is that generated
    the Problem report.
When the Blackberry started to use Bluetooth the "gold standard" was using Microsoft's
"native" windows drivers. Now, every major PC company has there own version
    Thus the problem report.
There is  rather involved and lengthy procedure to check and install the correct Bluetooth drivers
in the Dell, but I really don't think you want to take that on.( Nod you head and say H*LL YES)
    Here is what I propose;
The problem report needs to be resolved or it wont go away. Read the manual, call Dell,
try apologizing to it and that you'll never never do it again, what ever it takes!
Make the best investment you can make for your Blackberry, buy a media card.
All the memory in the BB is dynamic, this facilitates the functions of the phone.
By storing media in that memory, you effect are wasting X amount for file storage.
Store all media and files on the media card, and you will have a smooth running device.
They run about $25.00usd, they are easy to install, and they also make moving your
media a snap. You will need the USB adapter that came with it, but you can get that at
    your local carrier store.
So if you agree with this I need some info.
On the Blackberry go to the options icon, click then scroll up to ABOUT.
I need your software version number, it's listed in this format: 4.x.x.xxx.
Send it back to me and I can tell you what size card you can get.
    Let me know your thoughts!
    Thanks,

  • How do I find music and movies that didn't copy over after restoring Ipod?

I restored my ipod and all of my movies and music didn't copy back over. (Most did.) How do I find the ones that didn't?  When I check Itunes it showed them in the cloud before and now they are not even showing up in Itunes.  What are we doing wrong?

    Hello Cindy,
It sounds like not all your purchases transferred to your computer before your restored your iPod touch.  I found an article with some steps to download your past iTunes purchases.  I recommend following the steps in the section titled "Apps, Books, Music, Movies, or TV shows on a computer" in the following article:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • HT1386 Unable to transfer iTunes file/folder on my iPod (Classic) to my new computer.

I am trying to transfer my iTunes music to a new Windows computer from my iPod (Classic) but I am unable to see my iTunes file/folder on my iPod when connected to my new computer.

I managed to recover my music from my iPod Classic (formatted F00, F01, F02, etc......F49), but I am unable to get iTunes to recognize any of it. It keeps defaulting to a previous old iTunes library and trying to locate those songs.
How can I get it to recognizewhat I would like to be my new!!! iTunes library (off my iPod)?

  • Events and project thumbnails missing after moving to new computer

I just helped a friend to move to a new Mac. I have copied all her personal data to her new computer, so iMovie Events and Projects are present in her new Movie folder. However, after opening iMovie '08, all events and project thumbnails are missing. How could this be? Is there perhaps some library file that keeps track of all this that I need to copy as well? Is there a way to re-link iMovie with the events folder?

    Try this:
First, make sure you've quit out of iMovie. Then go to your Movies Folder > iMovie Events > and then into the folder of the even that's giving you trouble. Drag the folder "iMovie Thumbnails" to your trash. Then open the folder "iMovie Cache" and drag the file "Cache.plist" to the trash. Restart iMovie. It should rebuild the thumbnails, and by regenerating the .plist file, it should have the data it needs to reed the new thumbnails into iMovie.
It worked for me. Hopefully it will work for you too.

  • Satellite M45 - Will not boot after restore to new HDD

I installed a new PATA 250GB HDD into my pc. Configured BIOS to boot from CD/DVD. In started Toshiba recovery disk from cold boot, followed instruction to load a new system on the HDD. It performed a (quick) format on the HDD, spent 50 mins copying files from CD to new HDD. Followed instructions to remove CD and reboot pc. Did that. I get the Toshiba splash screen for 2-3 seconds, then I get a blank screen with a white block cursor in the upper LH corner of the screen. Seems like it cant find the boot block on the HDD?
Did the recovery procedure 3 times with same results. Checked BIOS to make sure it is set to boot from HDD after the install.
The recover CD is virgin. Never used since I bought the PC (3.5 years ago). Put new HDD into a USB enclosure and formatted with Windows, tried again with same result?! Put the old HDD in, PC boots and runs fine. Put Knoppix live CD and boot from that, works fine. Sees the new HDD.
So, any suggestions are appreciated. Is the Toshiba recovery CD defective? Anyway to test?
    Thanks
    -J

Thank you for your reply. I doubt it is the hd. I took it out of the laptop, put it into an external usb-pata enclosure, formatted it under windows, copied files to it...deleted files, etc. all was fine. I'll install DSLinux just as a test (maybe something wrong with boot block but I doubt it.)
Yea could be corrupted recovery disk. I am in the process of getting an XP disk (I am actually trying to get out of the situation of buying an xp disk but will see if I can borrow one)
If the recovery disk is hosed, know where I can get a replacement? Doubt that Toshiba will give me one. There got to be some images around that I can dnld for free (not really interested in paying for one....)
I'll still need to slipstream in the driver updates no matter which route I'll go.
This kind of **** really ********* me off....grrrr

  • 'Invalid Public Movie Atom' after moved movies across HDD's

    hi all.
im kind of freaking out because i have just lost over 1TB of movies when purchasing a new usb HDD.
now all i did was copy the movies from 1 USB hdd to another USB hdd and now they won't work, i get the error 'Invalid Public Movie Atom' or 'this is not a movie file'.
    They are all .mp4
i tried dropping one of them into visualhub and it came up with an error.
is there a way to recover or fix all my movies.
edit: one of the movies happens to work. i have moved my data to a WD MyBook mirror edition, its status currently is RAID 0 +HFS, the moveis were on a MyBook 1TB formatted MacOS Extended (journaled)

  • Slow internet with SIS900 after moving to new network

After moving to a new house I am having internet problems on my main box. I have two computers, both of which are running archlinux:
    1. My athlonxp 1700 MAIN BOX with a SIS900 onboard nic
    2. An old celeron 500 LAPTOP, with an E100 onboard nic
The symptoms are similar to the "2.6.8.1 slows my internet to a crawl" problems described in the wiki.
    http://wiki2.archlinux.org/index.php/Ke … 0a%20crawl!
The problems can be described as follows:
    - DNS lookup is working fine
    - My browser is slow when connecting to a site. After a while the page begins to load very slowly (less than 1k per second) but halts after several kilobytes
    - Same thing for downloads. Download starts but halts after something like 30 k
In my house we use a shared ADSL connection, with a windows 2000 box configured as a router, and all others connected through a switch. On my LAPTOP everything is working fine. I had to do two things to get internet working properly:
    1. Turn TCP Window Scaling off (echo "0" > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_window_scaling)
    2. Set MTU (max transfer unit) to 1350 by adding "mtu 1350" to the eth0 line in rc.conf
However, on my main box this does not work. Since both computers are configured the same way, I am guessing the problem lies with the SIS900 driver. I did try the 2.6.11.3 as well as the old 2.4.26 kernel, but both show the same behaviour. Somehow it seems like the window scaling problem persists, even though window scaling has been turned off. By now I have spent hours trying fix this. Is there anyone that has an idea how this could be fixed?
    thanks in advance
    jw

Ok, after some more mucking about I have made some progress. By changing MTU to 100 I can get pages to load, albeit slowly. At least now I can post about this from my main box ;-).
I have noticed the following things:
    - With MTU 100 pages load, but my adsl broadband is about as slow as an old modem. I get about 1Kbps on ftp downloads. After ~200K the transfer stalls.
    - When using aMule i notice that my eth0 monitor (in superkaramba) indicates outward traffic of about 20 Kbps, eventhough aMule itself only indicates 5Kbps being transferred.
    - When I ping my router by doing "ping 192.168.0.1" I have about 10% packet loss. This does not happen on my laptop.
So, I'm stuck with the following questions:
    - Why does my internet grind to a halt when I use MTU>1000?
    - Why do my downloads halt after ~100K?
    - Where do I start looking for differences in my LAPTOP setup, which works fine, and my MAIN BOX, which does not?

  • Bootable copy of SL on a new HDD

    Hi!
I've bought a new HDD. Can I make a clone of my current SL volume on the new HDD, and then just replace the old one with the new in my MBP? Will it work as it had always been there?
    Thanks guys!

Yes. You can use SuperDuper or CarbonCopy Cloner both free for cloning.
Remember to repair permissions after cloning.

  • When iTunes creates an iTunes library, does it copy all of the files?

Or does it just create a pathway to those files? I remember waaaaaaaay back when I tried putting my library into iTunes, it physically copied every single file and filled up my harddrive. That was years ago, granted. But I'm still gunshy about it happening again. I would hope they've fixed it by now.
Also, will iTunes be able to understand where my files are if they're located on an external harddrive? I keep all of my music on a WD Passport external drive and I plug and unplug it a lot. Will it be able to keep up with that these days?
    Thanks.

It depends on how you have iTunes' preferences set. If you just use the default preferences, iTunes will copy any tracks you add into its own library folders. If you want to keep your tracks on your external drive, just turn off the "copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library" the iTunes -> Advanced preferences. You will also want to turn off the "Keep iTunes Music folder organized" option in the same preference. Then when you use the Add To Library command, iTunes will link to the tracks on your external drive rather than copying them to the internal.
You'll want to set the location of the iTunes Music folder in that same preference pane to your external drive if you want future purchases from the iTunes Store and imports from CD to be stored on your external as well.
    Regards.

  • Can't get iTunes to come up at all after upgrade

I got the message to upgrade Safari, iTunes and Quicktime. I started the download and left. When I came back I got a message to power off the MAC using the power button - it was a transparent box in several languages. I did that and then tried to check the update again to see what didn't get loaded. The only thing there was iTunes so I tried to update it again. It crashes every time I try to bring it up. After trying to download it again and repairing my permissions, I tried to follow these instructions to install an earlier version of iTunes.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1224?viewlocale=US
I also did the extra things suggested in the post by Barbara Daniels1
by trashing the iTunesaccess.pkg and iTunesx.pkg
and went to the iTunes Music folder and trashed the ITunes libraryextras.itdb, genius.itdb, and music library.xml
it still crashes and won't come up.
I am on the updated Safari and Quicktime.
Here is my latest crash report - Can someone help me? I have been trying to fix this for about 3 days now.

  • HT1449 music files didn't chang their location

I have the latest iTunes version. I am moving my itunes media folder to another drive because the one it is on now is very slow for some reason. I changed the media location and organized my library. The files copies over but when I look at the song info the location is still the old hard drive. Videos have the new location. What can I do now to point the songs to the right place without copying them again.

my OS is 10.7, not as indicated above.

I'd be happy to help you if you're going to help me. :-)

    Anyone? Please?
