HT1451 How to restore missing playlists

I was updating to iOS 7 on my ipad 2. I did the upgrade through iTunes. First, I did a a complete sync and then did the upgrade.
After the iOS 7 upgrade and the restore to my iPad, I noticed that about half of my playlists were missing in iTunes. All my music is still in iTunes but playlists are gone.
Anything I can do to get the playlists back?

However, my troubleshooting issue is that I also want the songs in my concert playlists to go in order of how they were performed at the concerts.
Give them a track number.
Each time I number them within the playlists the song's number also changes within the Library Music list.
And? I'm not seeing the problem.
However, I can not figure out how to make true copy. I've already tried dragging the song to my desktop, then dragging the new copy back into iTunes. I've even tried renaming the duplicate copy and dragging it into iTunes. Why won't my iTunes make an individual duplicate copy of a song?
How do you have iTunes manage your music? If you drag a song to the desktop it may just be moving the file to the desktop.
Command+R to reveal the file in Finder. Command+D to duplicate the file in Finder. Drag the duplicate to iTunes to add the second copy. Not that I totally understand where the issues lie and feel this is likely not the best remedy...

How to restore lost playlists?

My daughter recently logged onto my computer (using her individual screen name) and opened ITunes. She later logged off her screen name, and I logged on.
when I logged on and opened ITUnes, all of the songs which historically appeared in ITunes were missing. It was blank. I opened the file on my hard drive which contained my songs and imported all of them back into ITunes. So far, so good. However, I observed that none of my playlists were restored. Is there a way to do this, short of manually recreating each one?
One thought occured to me. I have not connected my Ipod to my computer since this mishap occurred. This means that the playlists on my Ipod are still in their original condition. Is there a way to upload the playlist info from the Ipod to Itunes?
Any help would be appreciated.

How to restore from playlists Time Machine?

I replaced my hard drive and restored everything from Time Machine and now all my playlists are gone. How can I get tham back. All the music appears to be there still.

The playlists are stored in both iTunes Library.itl and iTunes Library.xml files located in your iTunes folder. They should have been restored with the rest of the iTunes folder. Restore from your recent Time Machine backup just these 2 files inside your iTunes folder, then hold down option key while starting up iTunes and select the current iTunes folder that holds both library files. If this doesn't fix it and you don't have another recent backup of these files, you might be out of luck and have to re-create your playlists from scratch. See the following articles 1 and 2 on iTunes library files.

I just installed iTunes 10.5. All of my music shows up fine, but my playlists are all gone. These took ages to create.
I tried moving one of the backup files from /User/Music/iTunes/Previous iTunes Libraries but there isn't one more recent than 2 months.

Sorry, but your only option would be to use the previous iTunes library. I'm guessing you didn't read up on iTunes 10.5 before you downloaded it. It's not the final version so it basically wipes everything. I recommend that you create a library backup file and some playlist backups next time you get everything situated just incase your computer dies or something too. To start we have several users and devices on our itunes account....Several weeks ago I was using my itouch to create playlists for a few aerobics classes that I teach. Right before I was about to unplug the itouch I got a notification that my itouch was full and didnt have any space left. Since I was done with what I was doing at the time, I unplug my itouch and figured I would delete unwanted songs later to create more room. A week later, I went to sync my itouch into itunes and over the devices it told me that it was named another device and wanted to know if i wanted to sync the information to my itouch I had just plug in. I had never seen this message before in all the other times I had used it, and at the time I didnt realize that it was giving my device the name of another user in my house. Without realizing it itunes started to sync the new information to my itouch. I immediately unplugged the usb cable stopping the process. I then replugged the usb cable in, hoping to get done what I needed to get done on my itouch thinking it might have just been a strange glitch. Also, since I hadn't notice any change on my itouch from the incorrect syncing, I continued to start itunes again. This time it asked me the same question as before "did I want to sync the information from another ipod?". Since I didnt notice any changes before I just let it do the syncing not realizing at the time that it was earsing all the info I had on my itouch and replacing it with info coming from the other users ipod.
I contacted Apple and they gave me infomation on how I could go look for my itouch under devices and get the information back. When I did this my itouch was no longer there under the devices and it was replaced with the new name that itunes had given my itouch. This device is one of the first generation itouches and has never been backed up that I know of... So my question to you all is...Is there any way of getting my playlists back???? I spend countless hours creating these playlists for my classes and have been completely out of my mind trying to figure out how I can possibly get the infomation back. Please let me know if you think there might be a way to do this!!!

The devices that are listed are: 2 under the name of the device that synced incorrectly with mine and then 3 others that are not associated with my itouch. The name of the ipod, before the incorrect sycning is no longer under devices. It has been replaced with the incorrect one because I can see the serial # of my ipod under the wrong name.
The playlists that are in my itunes library are from an ipod that I used a few times before I took this one over... Which happens to be the ipod that took on the ID of my itouch.
Both of these ipods used to be my kids.. I used my sons a few times and then switched to my daughters. They each had their names attachted to their particular devices and now it just says my sons, which is the ipod that itunes was connecting to when all this happened. The really strange thing is my son doesnt use his ipod any longer and now uses his phone for music...So, it had been a while since that particular device was even synced to itunes!

Have iPhone 4 iOS 4.2.8
To install an app (Skype), my phone recommended I do it thru iTunes 10.5.2 (via usb tether)
Checked the sync box, selected the Skype app after I downloaded it in iTunes.
The sync process went thru a bunch of 'finding, removing, backing up' of my installed APPs.
When it was done, all my installed APPs were gone from my iPhone.
Tried doing the 'Restore' function, I believe.
That went thru some dialogs, but still no APPs were restored to my iPhone.
Some blogs say to use the 'Purchased' icon in the APP STORE app on the iPhone; there is no 'Purchased' icon. (there used to be, but not now)
Prior to Sycing I had more than 15 updates to install. I no longer have any updates, as the apps are gone I suppose.
Is there a back up of my iPhone APPS on my computer? The dialogs that were running and identifying the APPs that I have instaleld leads me to believe that iTunes was making a backup ,and that everything was fine.

When, if ever, was the last time you synced your phone with that computer? It sounds to me like you either set up a new sync relationship with a computer other than the one you normally sync to, or you set up a sync relationship for the first time since you got your phone. In either case, you apparently did not read the warning dialogs that popped up telling you that your phone would be erased and the contents would be replaced with what was in iTunes on the computer.
You're going to have to re-download the apps that you're missing now. It's easiest to do this from the computer (especially now that you have a sync relationship established).
On the phone, open the app store. Click on updates. Click on purchased. Select "Not on This iPhone" and donwload the ones you want.

iTunes is pretty unforgiving about deleting playlists. There no "undelete". You can revert to using an earlier version of your iTunes library file from a backup.
It doesn't make a difference in this case but you did post in the iTunes for Mac forum and your computer information says you are running Windows.

I have done a data recovery of my tunes, and brought the recover files back to itunes, and somehow itunes transferred my tunes to the media folder, but said there was not enough space on my Hd, so I deleted some of the recovered files i thought were not needed to give space for the transfer to the media folder, then i find, yes the media folder saves space, and my tunes are in the library, but all my previous playlists are gone, I probably removed then, trying to create space, the recovered tunes are on a back up drive, but what particuliar files do i use to get my playlist back, without re instaling everything, and considering my tunes are in the media folder already, Any one got a answer that `i could understand, I would be grateful. thanks.......!!!!!!

My server went offline at thursady 6.00 PM and became online at sunday 12.30 PM.
Users still waiting for emails on that period. Does it take this much time normally ? or is it depending on the external mail server configuration?
As noted - it can take up to 3 days to resend mail depending on how the servers are configured. Usually all mail is delivered within 24 hours and no sooner.
There is no script or way we can help you with this. Call you ISP or your vendor for more help on how to administer Internet mail.
Your outage may guarantee that you will have lost at least a days mail. Call the senders and ask them to send it again.
As Bill has pointed out - this is not a scripting question but is a question about how to manage a mail server.

How to restore missing bookmarks icons after system reinstall?

After reinstalling my system (Win 7 x64) and downloading the latest Nightly build of Firefox, logging in to Sync and syncing my bookmarks, I discovered that the icons are missing (white square with gray outline). After visiting a web page, the icon is set back to normal. The problem is, that I have lots of bookmarks, and it would take an enormous amount of time to visit every page. And on the second hand, with icons its easier to access bookmarks.

I don't think you can, you'd have to revisit every website.

HT1451 How to create a 'playlist' ?

After 'updating' my itunes I am having trouble with syncing music and books to my pod and creating playlists. I have read the itunes tutorial re creating a playlist but fall at the first hurdle because the playlist heading doesn't come up on my screen from any of the categories I tick. What should I be doing to get that screen?

Ctrl B to Show the Top menu bar
then View > Show left hand sidebar
View > Show Status Bar
It should now look like itunes 10 and playlists work exactly the way they did before

How to restore missing fonts after Mavericks upgrade

If your fonts are not working in Pages and other software after a Mavericks 'upgrade', it might be that you still have them, and simply need to turn them back on...
1. Go to Font Book
2. Find the failing fonts.
3. If they are marked 'Off' then right click them and highlight 'Enable Fonts' option.

FWIW Mavericks has wasted DAYS of my time this week... it disabled fonts, made my WD HDD incompatible, trashed Time Machine and lost my Google Drive folder, so my files don't sync etc.

There's a very old thread about this for CS2. Domingo Chavez listed the required fonts and where they belong for that version, and even posted them for others to download and replace. I don't know if the collection has changed, but judging from my system I think not, so it would be worth trying the older files. As always, back up first..

With Itunes 11 I do not see any reference to my plugged in iphone 4s anywhere. I can't even find it in the help menu. Thanks for any help.

Everything in iTunes with regards to syncing works the same as it always has.
Connect the device.
Select the appropriate content tab.
Select the content to sync.
Sync.
If you prefer to drag and drop, this may require turning the sidebar back on. Cntrl + S will enable the sidebar
