HT1459 Connect to itunes disabled, cant type in passcode to connect to itunes

My touch is saying ipod is disabled connect to itunes. When I connected to itunes it says Ipod is passcode protected, type in passcode to continue. Yet it wont even let me type a password on my ipod because it is disabled. My home button is broken. And I cannot figure it out.

Placing the iPod in Recovery mode and then connecting the iPod to your computer normall resolve the issue.
Somes placing the iPod in DFU mode is required.

my IPhone 4 screen cracked and cant type my passcode so was not able to complete backup on ITunes as kept on asking me for passcode! can anyone help please?

sounds like you won't be able to do a backup.  Hopefully, if you've been using your phone as directed, you've been backing up frequently so you won't have much data loss.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.

  • Siri locked me i cant type in passcode

siri kept on talking and i cant type in my passcode

Sounds as though you may have enabled Voice Over.  You will need to get to Settings>General>Accessibility>Voice Over>Off. To scroll try to flick the screen with three fingers which hopefully allow you to get to put your Passcode in.  If not see if you can reset your iPhone by pressing and holding the sleep/wake button and the home button for 10-15 seconds until the Apple logo appears, ignore the red slider.  Then turn back on. You won't lose any data doing the reset.

It's too late for that. Maybe you should consider setting up your next iPhone to backup to iCloud... it happens automatically without user intervention once it's set up. All that's required is a power source for the phone and a WiFi internet connection.

  • HT201328 how can i unlock my phone using itunes i cant remember the passcode

ive accidentially pressed the wrong passcode multiple time and now my phone is locked its says connect to itunes, im not really sure what to do after that.. id appriciate any help. thanks

With the new IOS 7 therer has been what is know as an activation lock in which disables the user to restore the device to default settings without knowing the password to the apple id. Once you have restored the device back to default settings it will then ask you to plug in the apple id password. Once you have verified your identity with the apple id password you will be good to go!
    Good luck.

  • HT1212 my ipad is locked and saying connect to itunes and im trying to connect it but its saying you need to type the passcode in but i cant because its still saying its locked what do i do

my ipad is locked and its saying connect to itunes which i have done and on itunes its saying ipad can not connect because its got a passcode but i cant type the pass code in because its locked what do i do

You need to follow the instructions in the second half of that page
Note: If iTunes asks you to enter the passcode, try another computer that you have synced with. Otherwise, go to "If you have never synced your device with iTunes, or you do not have access to a computer" section below.
So you need to click on the 'If you have never synced your device with iTunes, or you do not have access to a computer' heading and follow the instructions underneath it

My ipod touch is disabled, i installed the latest version of itunes, but cant figure out how to restore the ipod, can anyone help?

If you run into the "another installation" message even after the reboot of the PC (which is an excellent idea by HTP ProXy), reregistering your Windows Installer Service is worth a try.
First, launch a command prompt as an administrator. In your Start search, type cmd then right-click on the cmd that comes up and select "Run as administrator".
    At the command prompt:
Type %windir%\system32\msiexec.exe /unregister and hit enter.
Type %windir%\syswow64\msiexec.exe /unregister and hit enter.
Type %windir%\system32\msiexec.exe /regserver and hit enter.
Type %windir%\syswow64\msiexec.exe /regserver and hit enter.
Restart the PC and try another reinstalll.

Ipod screen says Ipod disabled connect to itunes...but when I connect to itunes it says ipod is passcode protected and I must enter passcode on my ipod to continue.  But I cant enter the passcode becaue the ipod is disabled.  Brothers entered a bunch or wrong passcodes to disable so I couldn't play it.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload iTunes purchases by:

    Hello feeling dumb
You will need to put your iPhone into recovery mode by following the steps highlighted below.
iOS: Forgotten passcode or device disabled after entering wrong passcode
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212
Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to shut down.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then restore the device.
    Regards,
    -Norm G.
